Biden Auto Pen

Blurb:

Former President Joe Biden has lost a battle in his effort to limit the investigation into the use of the autopen during his presidency.

Biden had contacted the National Archives in an effort to claim executive privilege over certain documents, but the Trump administration turned down the request Tuesday, Fox News has reported.

“I am concerned that disclosure of these materials would damage important institutional interests of the Presidency, including by impairing the ability of future Presidents to receive robust, candid advice from their close advisers,” Biden said in an Oct. 1 letter to the Archival Operations Division of the National Archives and Records Administration

A new Rasmussen Reports poll shows 52% of Americans want former Biden aids connected to the auto pen scandal prosecuted. 32% said they disagreed, while 17% said they weren’t sure. Another Rasmussen Reports poll shows 55% of U.S. voters “consider it likely that, when Biden was president, members of his White House staff used the autopen to sign documents without Biden’s knowledge.”

Blurb:

Mike Howell, a leading investigator in the Biden autopen scandal, told The Federalist last week that “investigating is no longer good enough. We need accountability.”

A majority of Americans agree, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll.

The national telephone and online survey of 1,157 likely voters finds 52 percent of respondents believe former President Joe Biden’s aides tied to the suspect use of the autopen should be criminally prosecuted. Less than a third of voters (32 percent) disagree, while 17 percent of those surveyed said they are not sure whether prosecutions are in order. The survey was conducted Oct. 28-30.

Last week’s report from the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform provides copious evidence of the former president’s incredibly shrinking cognitive and physical abilities, his “inner circle of loyalists attempting to mislead the nation to ignore what people’s eyes plainly showed them,” and the constitutional crisis his decline and the cover-up created.

The U.S. House Oversight Committee issued a report that claims the evidence they have collected nullifies the legal authority of the Biden autopen on key pardons. The report claimed, “Barring evidence of executive actions taken during the Biden presidency showing that President Biden indeed took a particular executive action, the Committee deems those actions taken through use of the autopen as void.”

The committee also asked the Department of Justice to “determine whether legal action is necessary to ameliorate consequences of any illegitimate pardons granted, or executive actions implemented, throughout the Biden Autopen Presidency.”

Blurb:

The House Oversight Committee released a nearly 100-page report on Tuesday deeming invalid those executive actions and pardons issued without proper authorization and with machine-generated signatures in former President Joe Biden’s name.

The former Chief of Staff of former President Joe Biden, Jeff Zients, went before a congressional panel September 18, 2025, and testified that Biden became increasingly difficult to work with.

Jeff Zients is the last scheduled witness to take questions from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee for its investigation into Biden’s fitness while he was in office. Zients said that Dr. Kevin O’Connor told him he would take the suggestion under advisement, according to a person familiar with Zients’ closed-door interview with the committee.

Zients was White House chief of staff from February 2023 to the end of Biden’s term in January 2025. He ignored reporters who peppered him with questions as he walked into the interview with the committee. He told the committee that after Biden’s poor debate performance against Trump, he thought it made sense for the president to drop out of the reelection race.

The House committee has been investigating Biden’s cognitive state and whether staff improperly used the White House autopen for major presidential actions, such as offering clemency to felons, without authorization from the president.

Zients also said the former president’s son, Hunter Biden, was involved in the pardon discussions and attended meetings on the matter, according to the person familiar with the interview. The then-president pardoned Hunter Biden, who had been convicted of tax and gun crimes.

Joe Biden has been cashing in since leaving the Oval Office.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Joe Biden sold his presidential memoir to a publisher for $10 million.

The number may sound high, but it’s significantly lower than the deals Barack Obama and Bill Clinton received.

The New York Post shared more details on the deal and how it compares to previous presidents:

Former President Biden has sold his presidential memoir for a $10 million advance – far less than the lucrative deals won by the Obamas and Bill Clinton, according to a report.

Biden, 82, made a deal with Hachette Book Group for an advance of around $10 million, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal.

The book’s publisher, Hachette’s Little, Brown & Co., has not yet set a publication date.

Former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama, meanwhile, sold the rights to their memoirs to Penguin Random House for a record-breaking $60 million in 2017.

Alfred A. Knopf, which is owned by Penguin Random House’s parent firm Bertelsmann, paid $15 million for former President Bill Clinton’s 2004 memoir “My Life.”

President Trump did not publish a presidential memoir after his first term.

In Hunter Biden’s recent interview with Andrew Callaghan, he flew off the handle over left-wing actor George Clooney, as well as others, who criticized his father during the 2024 presidential election.

“F*** him. F*** him. F*** him and everybody around him.” Biden said. “I don’t have to be f***ing nice.”

“No. 1, I agree with Quentin Tarantino. F***ing George Clooney is not a f***ing an actor…He’s a brand,” he continued. “F*** you. What do you have to do with f***ing anything? Why do I have to f***ing listen to you? What right do you have to step on a man who’s given 52 years of f***ing life to the service of this country and decide that you, George Clooney, are going to take out a four-page ad in the f***ing New York Times?”

Townhall previously reported how President Joe Biden’s decline was so intense that he did not recognize Clooney at a campaign fundraiser he was hosting for the president.

It is becoming increasingly obvious to most Americans that President Joe Biden was, in fact, a committee president, not an individual. More evidence is emerging that shows President Biden wasn’t involved in much of the decision-making process during the autopen process. Now, President Trump has ordered a formal investigation of the illegal and treasonous action.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explained the order to Fox News, saying, “Joe Biden was the worst, most incompetent, and senile president in our country’s history. It has been widely reported that Joe Biden handed the power of the presidency to an autopen controlled by unelected leftist staffers, who were allowed to make terrible decisions that destroyed our country. The Trump White House is committed to finding the answers to the many outstanding questions the American people still have about how business in the Biden White House was conducted.”

In a startling confession, former President Joe Biden has admitted that he was unaware of many of the pardons signed by his autopen.

Biden made the confession to the New York Times.

He told the newspaper that he did not approve many of the controversial pardons that he nominally signed at the end of his term.

Biden defended his administration’s frequent use of an autopen as perfectly “legal,” and insisted that he made “every decision.”

However, he also conceded that he delegated the details of the pardon process to his staff because there were too many to sign.

“We’re talking about a whole lot of people,” he said.

Biden’s frequent use of the autopen has fueled doubts about his authority over the White House and the legitimacy of the actions he took as president.

The controversial pardon spree of his final days in power has especially come under the spotlight.

Biden granted clemency to 4,000 inmates, including nearly every federal prisoner on death row.

He also gave pre-emptive pardons to members of his own family.

According to the Times, Biden “did not individually approve each name for the categorical pardons that applied to large numbers of people, he and aides confirmed.”

Biden only approved the basic criteria that were used for three sets of mass pardons, the Times reported.

A fourth set of pardons involved high-profile Trump critics like Mark Milley and Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Biden insisted that he discussed their cases individually.

“We know how vindictive Trump is, and I’ve no doubt they would have gone after Mark for no good reason,” Biden said.

“The general, you know.

“So they may read off his name — what’d I want?

“I told them I wanted to make sure he had a pardon because I knew exactly what Trump would do — without any merit, I might add.”

The White House used a multi-step process to record the proof of Biden’s involvement.

Senior advisers like chief of staff Jeff Zients would relay Biden’s decisions to assistants to be written down.

The assistants, who were not present for Biden’s meetings, would then send their notes back to Biden’s advisers for approval before sending them off to staff secretary Stefanie Feldman, who had the autopen.

If revisions were made to the pardon list, staff would run the final versions through the autopen without asking Biden to sign again.

On the final night of his presidency, Biden decided to pre-emptively pardon his family members.

However, Zients had the final sign-off.

In an e-mail at 10:31 p.m. on January 19, he wrote:

“I approve the use of the autopen for the execution of all of the following pardons.”

President Donald Trump has ordered a formal investigation of his predecessor’s use of autopen signatures to sign a number of key documents throughout his tenure, including pardons. In total, the investigation is set to review more than one-million documents signed during the Biden presidency.

Officials familiar with the probe told Fox News that they already are reviewing tens of thousands of documents turned over by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The White House Counsel’s Office is taking the lead on the probe, while the Department of Justice is also assisting.

A senior administration official told the outlet that they are not yet able to discuss findings of the investigation, though NARA has confirmed that more than 27,000 records have already been turned over to investigators.

The past week finally blew the lid off the worst political corruption scandal of the 21st century. And if you’re not sure what I’m talking about, that means the criminal conspiracy behind it is already winning.

The revelations of the last seven days indicate that the coverup and exploitation of former President Joe Biden’s deteriorating health by his inner circle were more treacherous than first suspected. Moreover, we now know for sure that their conspiracy is still active.

Exhibit A: Last Wednesday, Joe Biden’s White House Physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, finally appeared before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee after months of delays. He was subpoenaed as part of the committee’s investigation into the former president’s mental incapacity.

As the president’s official physician, O’Connor would have been consulted — and probably conducted neurological assessments on his patient — as soon as Biden started falling down in public in early 2021. He may have also tested and treated him for prostate cancer. O’Connor knows better than anyone when, how quickly, and how badly the president fell into cognitive and physical decline.

There’s a striking detail buried in the latest New York Times report on the unfolding autopen pardon scandal: the Biden officials now under scrutiny for signing off on controversial presidential pardons are being represented by some of the top law firms in Washington — at no cost in some cases.

According to the Times, a “flight of white-shoe lawyers” from firms like Latham & Watkins, Cooley and Steptoe, and Covington & Burling have swooped in to shield Biden’s inner circle, with some of the work being done pro bono.

What began as a legal curiosity has ballooned into a serious constitutional scandal that implicates some of the most powerful names in Democratic politics. At the heart of it lies a simple but damning question: Did President Biden personally approve a sweeping series of controversial pardons — such as that of Anthony Fauci — or were unelected aides quietly signing off in his name after he was no longer mentally competent to do so?

On June 4, President Trump issued a memorandum directing the Department of Justice to investigate “whether certain individuals conspired to deceive the public about Biden’s mental state and unconstitutionally exercise the authorities and responsibilities of the President.” The memo specifically raises the possibility that Biden’s aides “secretly used the mechanical signature pen to conceal this incapacity, while taking radical executive actions all in his name.”

Under oath, the former director for the White House Domestic Policy Council, Neera Tanden, testified that she did, in fact, use the autopen to sign orders for President Biden. She claimed she was only using the precedent set by past administrations.

Tanden’s activist past makes the decision to give her autopen authority even more suspicious. Former White House stenographer Mike McCormick testified to congress that Tanden was a “super aggressive, very progressive operative.” He also said if there was one person willing to act on behalf of Biden without his knowledge to push a far-left agenda, “She would be the person…If she came into his White House knowing that [Biden] was debilitated, would she be the kind of person who would take advantage of that? I think she would.”

Neera Tanden, a prominent fixture in the Democratic establishment who served as director of the Biden White House Domestic Policy Council, appeared before the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday for hours-long, closed-door testimony concerning Biden’s cognitive decline while in office, its cover-up, and its alleged exploitation behind the scenes.

Despite mounting evidence to the contrary, Tanden, a former Hillary Clinton aide, stuck with the narrative that Biden was mentally fit during his tenure, her opening statement showed. She also suggested that the controversial use of the autopen — a machine used to affix Biden’s signature to a myriad of documents, which critics suspect was abused by unelected individuals to advance radical agendas and to circumvent the will of the American people — was above-board.

Tanden’s spin notwithstanding, congressional investigators appear to have made headway on Tuesday thanks in part to some poetic justice.

Shield withdrawn

Despite protest from President Donald Trump and warnings from numerous critics about setting an undesirable precedent, Biden waived executive privilege in October 2021 and directed the National Archives to furnish congressional partisans with Trump-era White House records pertaining to the Jan. 6 protest at the U.S. Capitol.

Biden’s counsel noted in a letter that asserting executive privilege was “not in the best interests of the United States.”

University of Virginia School of Law professor Saikrishna Prakash, among the legal scholars at the time who understood this move could come back to bite Biden and his advisers, told the Associated Press, “Every time a president does something controversial, it becomes a building block for future presidents.”

Trump stacked on this building block this week in the interest of helping along the Oversight Committee’s investigation into the autopen scandal.

In a jaw-dropping revelation that should shake every American to their core, former Biden advisor Neera Tanden has admitted under oath that she — not Joe Biden — was in control of the president’s autopen for nearly two years.

A top White House aide, utterly unelected and unknown to most of the country, had the authority to affix the President’s signature to official documents, including sweeping executive orders and controversial pardons, all while the nation was led to believe these were the deliberate actions of the commander-in-chief himself.

“As staff secretary, I was responsible for handling the flow of documents to and from the president,” she testified. “I was also authorized to direct that autopen signatures be affixed to certain categories of documents.”

This isn’t some minor bureaucratic quirk. Tanden’s testimony before the House Oversight Committee exposes a chilling reality: for a significant stretch of Biden’s presidency, the man who was supposed to be in charge may have been little more than a figurehead, with crucial decisions and official acts rubber-stamped by staffers operating behind the scenes.

Tanden, who served as Senior Advisor and later as Staff Secretary, openly acknowledged that from October 2021 to May 2023, she was authorized to direct the use of the autopen on Biden’s behalf.

“We had a system for authorizing the use of the autopen that I inherited from prior administrations,” Tanden claimed. “We employed that system throughout my tenure as staff secretary.”

Despite her admission, she insists there was no abuse of the autopen or a cover-up.

For weeks, House Republicans have been turning up the heat on the Biden administration—and now, one of the First Lady’s closest aides is officially on the hot seat.

Anthony Bernal, a longtime senior advisor to former First Lady Jill Biden and often referred to as her “work husband,” has been subpoenaed to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on July 16 at 10:00 a.m., according to an official subpoena obtained Thursday. The hearing will take place at 2247 Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.

Bernal had previously agreed to voluntarily testify behind closed doors today, June 26, as part of the committee’s ongoing investigation into former President Joe Biden’s cognitive health and use of the autopen for signing executive documents. But after the White House Counsel’s Office waived executive privilege related to his testimony, Bernal abruptly pulled out of the scheduled appearance, drawing fierce criticism from Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY).

“Let this subpoena send a clear message to Biden’s inner circle: We will stop at nothing to expose the truth about Joe Biden’s decline & unauthorized use of the autopen,” Comer wrote Thursday.

A new report said that a top Justice Department official is investigating multiple pardons issued by former President Joe Biden.

Reuters reported, pardon attorney Ed Martin, formerly the U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., has sent an email to staff saying he was investigating Biden’s late-term pardons.

In addition to pardoning his son, Hunter Biden, the former president pardoned James Biden, Frank Biden, Valerie Biden Owens, and their spouses even though no charges were filed against them. Biden also pardoned several high-profile Democrats who had previously clashed with President Donald Trump and doled out clemency to multiple death row inmates.

Martin wrote staff members that his investigation focused upon whether Biden “was competent and whether others were taking advantage of him through use of AutoPen or other means.”

Autopen use has been controversial because multiple reports have emerged that Biden aides who used the autopen – which generates an exact replica of a president’s signature – may have done so without Biden’s knowledge.

President Donald Trump has ordered an investigation into the alleged use of an autopen to sign pardons under the Biden administration without the former president’s knowledge.

“In recent months, it has become increasingly apparent that former President Biden’s aides abused the power of Presidential signatures through the use of an autopen to conceal Biden’s cognitive decline and assert Article II authority,” the presidential memorandum says. “This conspiracy marks one of the most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history.”

Though Biden appeared to suffer from cognitive decline, the White House issued more than 1,200 presidential documents, appointed 235 federal judges to the Federal bench, and issued many pardons and commutations.

Shortly before Christmas 2024, Biden commuted the sentences of 37 death row criminals.

Trump ordered an investigation into activity designed to hide Biden’s health from the public, agreements between Biden aides to elevate the former president’s abilities, and the circumstances around Biden’s executive actions during his final years in office, particularly policy documents signed with autopen.

Biden’s comments came one day after President Donald Trump issued a Presidential Memorandum directing his White House counsel, in consultation with the Attorney General Pam Bondi, to investigate Biden’s executive actions, including his pardons and the use of an autopen for signatures. The president also ordered an investigation into efforts by Biden’s top aides to hide his cognitive decline.

The Memorandum directs an investigation into whether certain individuals conspired to deceive the public about Biden’s mental state and unconstitutionally exercise the authorities and responsibilities of the President.

The Memorandum also mandates an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Biden’s purported execution of the numerous executive actions during his final years in office, examining policy documents signed with an autopen, who authorized its use, and the validity of the resulting Presidential policy decisions.

A new investigation has been launched that could produce shocking new revelations about former President Joe Biden and his questionable use of the autopen. A growing number of individuals have decried the use of autopen signatures, claiming it is further evidence that the previous administration was aware of Biden’s cognitive decline and took steps to cover it up.

Critics claim the president was not capable of making final decisions on policies that would become law, thus someone whom the American people did not elect was leading the government.

A senior official within President Donald Trump’s Justice Department informed staff on Monday that he has received orders to launch an investigation into the clemency given to Biden in the final days of his presidency to both members of his family and inmates on death row.

DOJ pardon attorney Ed Martin penned an email obtained by Reuters that said the new investigation will look into whether the former president “was competent and whether others were taking advantage of him through use of AutoPen or other means.”

“An autopen is a device used to automatically affix a signature to a document. Trump and his supporters have made a variety of unfounded claims that Biden’s use of the device while president invalidated his actions or suggested that he was not fully aware of these actions. It is not known whether Biden used autopen on pardons,” Reuters explained.

Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett told “Kudlow” guest host David Asman Monday the answer to one question could render some pardons issued by former President Joe Biden “null and void.”

President Donald Trump declared in a March 17 post on Truth Social that pardons issued by Biden to members of the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol were invalid due to the use of an autopen, a mechanical device that can replicate a stored signature. Asman asked Jarrett about whether the use of the device would render pardons invalid.

“There were thousands of pardons and if the president, President Biden, didn’t know about or have the capacity to know about what these things were, that somebody says we’re using the autopen for this, does that make them null and void?” Asman asked.

A whistleblower has come forward to U.S. Pardon Attorney Ed Martin claiming there were three people who primarily controlled access to the autopen, and they made a lot of money selling that influence. Martin isn’t taking the claim as plain fact, but the investigation has begun. We know Biden was not cogent, with numerous stories about how aides and the media covered up his mental decline. There also might be some funny shadow games regarding his prostate cancer diagnosis. Still, one thing that watchdogs who have been watching this activity agree on is that Martin is on the case and that with a senior Democrat coming forward, he’ll get to the bottom of this (via The Blaze):

Martin revealed on Tuesday that his investigation into the use of the autopen has actually been underway for weeks; that he has reached out to members of the Biden family; that some persons of interest have “lawyered up”; and that a whistleblower has already come forward with some troubling allegations.

“I had a whistleblower in my office 10 day ago — senior, senior Democrat — saying, ‘Look, it was these three people that controlled access, and they were making money off of it,'” Martin told journalist Mark Halperin on the “2WAY Tonight” show. “I don’t know if I believe it yet, but the point is, I think, we have to get to the bottom of it for the American people and to protect the process, and that’s what we’re doing.”

Martin indicated that the whistleblower was involved with the 2020 Biden campaign at the highest levels.
