Robot companies are becoming AI companies as AgiBot reveals the new logic of embodied AI competition– technode.com

EXCERPT:
If we look back a few years, competition among humanoid robot companies seemed relatively straightforward: whoever could build a robot had a chance to capture the market. But by 2026, that logic is changing.
The moves made by AgiBot this year show how the boundaries of a robotics company are being redefined. Rather than simply being a hardware company focused on building robot bodies, AgiBot is increasingly evolving into an AI company that combines robots, foundation models, data platforms, and simulation systems.
In 2026, AgiBot has continued to advance products such as the Expedition A3, while upgrading its embodied AI models and data infrastructure. In April, the company released GO-2, its embodied foundation model, further enhancing robots’ ability to understand, plan, and execute tasks.
Genie Sim 3.0, meanwhile, uses simulation environments to generate training data. AgiBot has also launched projects such as AGIBOT WORLD and the GE-2 Action World Model. These projects connect data, models, and robotic hardware into an increasingly integrated technology stack.
Taken together, these developments point to a clear trend: the robot itself is gradually shifting from being the core product to becoming a carrier for an intelligent system.
