Newly declassified FBI files show that Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) received illegal campaign donations funneled through U.S. citizens by Chinese national Fang Fang, a female spy whom investigators tied directly to China’s Ministry of State Security.
The records, declassified by President Donald Trump and released Monday by the White House Government Transparency Task Force, detail the FBI’s investigation into Fang’s efforts to cultivate American politicians through campaign money, political access, congressional interns, and sexual relationships.
Swalwell emerged as one of her most important targets.
FBI Linked Fang to Chinese Intelligence
FBI officials knew early in the investigation that Fang, also known as Christine Fang, had ties to China’s Ministry of State Security, Beijing’s civilian intelligence service.
The files also identified her parents as MSS agents.
