Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud, an 18-year-old Somali-American, was arrested and accused of plotting to kill Americans in the Mall of America using an AK-47 and 200 rounds of ammo. The teen purchased the inert AK-47 from the FBI. This is how the arrest was made.
The DOJ released a statement that, in part, exclaimed, “The FBI rendered the AK-47 rifle inert prior to the transaction. During the sale of the firearm and ammunition, Mohamud reaffirmed his plan to use the firearm and ammunition to shoot people at the Mall of America”
