AUSTRALIAN MP Helen Haines has had both her legs amputated after a left-wing climate activist allegedly rammed her with a car.

A suspect has been charged after the terrifying “targeted” ordeal saw the MP, 65, repeatedly hit by a Toyota Land Cruiser before being pinned underneath it.

Helen’s husband Phil confirmed the double amputation today saying: “We had been hoping that her right leg would be saved, but as of this afternoon or this morning, the surgeons had to also remove her right leg.”

“But the good news in all this is Helen is alive and she’s stable. That is the most important thing for our family.”
