EXCERPT:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Israel’s Arab political parties of election fraud Wednesday, amid record-level Arab voter turnout and election wins in the ongoing Knesset polls.
Netanyahu alleged that the Arab parties “support terrorism and the elimination of the Jewish state” and had “stolen” the elections “through serious criminal offenses of bribery, threats, violence, forgeries, and the use of prohibited software to mobilize voters,” according to a translation of his statement posted on X.
The two main Arab parties are Ra’am and the Joint List, according to the Times of Israel.
Speaking for his Likud party, Netanyahu accused the Arab parties of trying to rig the elections through “thousands of envelopes with cash and Ra’am slips, threats and violence against polling station members, multiple voting behind the curtain, voting with double identities, discrepancies between the number of envelopes and the number of voters, the use of prohibited mobilization software, and more.”
His party demanded an investigation of the Arab parties by the police, the Shin Bet — Israel’s domestic security and counterintelligence agency—and the Central Elections Committee, which oversees the general elections for the Knesset.
