NBA Vet Hoping to Join WNBA as First ‘Trans’ Player Says He’s Coming for Caitlin Clark’s Biggest Hater, Angel Reese www.westernjournal.com

EXCERPT:

Well, since the WNBA still can’t seem to determine what the “W” in that acronym means, former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom could be the first pick in the next WNBA Draft. And he’s already coming for Caitlin Clark-hating Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese, comparing her to one of the NBA’s great choke artists of all time.

Also, if he gets his way, he says he and Clark — if teamed up — could be the WNBA’s “Kobe and Shaq.” Considering that Reese and Clark have been beefing since their college days (with Clark getting the better of it in the WNBA), that would be really something.

If you haven’t been following this story (and really, if you’re a fan of inadvertent woke hilarity, you’re missing out, even if you hate sports), Kanter is one of three males who have declared that they want to play in the WNBA; two have previous NBA experience: Kanter and Royce White.

Both are trying to make a point here: The WNBA, which is a league that functions as much as a progressive PAC as it does an ongoing sports concern, doesn’t really define what a woman is, except how you define it.

NATO fighter jets were scrambled in Poland and Romania overnight as Russia staged massive strikes on Kyiv.

At least 12 people were killed and 34 wounded in a missile and drone onslaught on the Ukrainian capital in some of Vladimir Putin’s most intense strikes of the entire war lasting more than seven hours.

A children’s hospital and apartment blocks were damaged as Russian source claimed to have hit Ukrainian missile and drone plants, logistics hubs, and railways.

In the early morning, people were rescued from the rubble as a woman was seeing weeping over the body of a relative on a debris-strewn street.

NATO F-18s were scrambled when a suspected Russian drone crashed in Romania and burst into flames.

Michigan Democrat U.S. Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed compared his progressive political platform to the teachings of Jesus Christ during a podcast interview, arguing that many of his signature policies are rooted in religious principles despite being labeled “radical.”

Appearing on the Progressive Christians Podcast in May, El-Sayed was asked how his Muslim faith influences his campaign and why policies such as Medicare for All, opposition to war, and rejecting corporate money in politics are often portrayed as extreme.

‘Jesus … Was Considered Radical’

Rev. Blair Stowe, one of the podcast’s hosts, suggested that many progressive policies closely resemble “the teachings of Jesus” but are nevertheless branded as radical by critics.

“And yet, those platforms and those policies are being named radical,” Stowe said.

Indiana U. professor not reappointed after complaint she linked MAGA to ‘white supremacy’

A social work lecturer at Indiana University will not be reappointed following a student complaint that she linked the “Make America Great Again” slogan to “white supremacy.

Jessica Adams learned her contract would not be renewed via a letter from IU Indianapolis Chancellor Latha Ramchand following her mid-year performance evaluation for spring 2026.

The letter did not provide specific reasons the school is letting her go.

“After careful review of your work by all appropriate groups at Indiana University, a recommendation has been made that you not be reappointed,” Ramchand wrote in the letter.

A free speech expert with the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression raised concerns about this case in an interview with The College Fix.

Faculty Legal Defense Fund Fellow Graham Piro said professors and students should be able to explore difficult matters without fear of censorship.

“Faculty have the academic freedom to teach their course in ways that engage and enlighten students,” Piro said.

Students are up to eight years behind, professor says

Calculus students at the University of California Berkeley don’t know how to work with elementary-level fractions, one professor wrote in a recent op-ed.

“I teach mathematics at UC Berkeley. Three days a week, I stand in front of lecture halls with 500 to 1,400 students. By the second week of the semester, I already know who is in trouble,” Zvezdelina Stankova wrote in an article published by The San Francisco Standard.

Stankova added that she works with students who are “five to eight years behind in mathematics.”

“Office hours that should be spent discussing integrals instead become lessons on fractions and basic algebra you would expect students to learn in middle school,” she wrote.

She noted that other professors are having similar experiences, which is why thousands of faculty at all 10 UC campuses signed open letters asking for the return of SAT and ACT requirements in admissions.

UC ditched the standardized testing requirement in 2020 to promote “equity.” Then, a court ruling on disability access forced the system to go fully test-blind through 2025, Stankova wrote.

Both the WNBA and the Atlanta Dream criticized security at the Atlanta Gateway Center Arena for telling a mother and daughter to cover their “XX-XY Athletics” shirt in support of Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham.

As Breitbart News reported on Monday, a mother and daughter said they were forced to cover up their “XX-XY Athletics t-shirts on Sunday during a Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) game at Atlanta’s Gateway Center Arena as the debate rages over biological men playing in women’s sports.

“We were made to cover up our XX-XY shirts at this game. They gave us T-shirts during overtime and told us we had to leave or cover our shirts up. This just happened,” the Georgia mother, identified as Casey, said.

“We were just sitting there. I didn’t make signs; I wanted to make signs, but I didn’t. I did nothing,” she added.

After massive pushback on social media, a WNBA spokesperson released a statement on Monday saying that the incident “should not have happened.

Russia has sent a heavily armed warship close to a NATO island in the Baltic Sea.

The ship is fortified with cruise and hypersonic missiles and has been deployed to a German island, according to reports from The Telegraph.

The frigate is equipped with nuclear-capable Zircon hypersonic missiles and was seen last week off the coast of the island of Fehmarn after the Kremlin threatened to attack British and EU vessels. Fehmarn is a popular tourist spot.

The ship, the Admiral Kasatonov, was built in 2020 and is reported to be one of the most advanced warships in Russia possession. It is capable of long-range strikes as well as anti-submarine warfare.

The movement in the warship in the Baltic, a vital shipping zone, marks the latest tensions between Russia and NATO.

Federal Judge Blocks DHS Access to 17 Million Commercial Driver Records › American Greatness amgreatness.com

EXCERPT:

A federal judge has temporarily blocked the Department of Homeland Security from accessing a database containing records on approximately 17 million commercial drivers as the Trump administration seeks to identify illegal immigrants holding commercial driver’s licenses.

U.S. District Judge Anthony Trenga issued an administrative stay preventing DHS from accessing records maintained by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators. Trenga, who was appointed by President George W. Bush, also ordered the department to return records it had already obtained and prohibited officials from reviewing them.

The order follows a lawsuit brought by a coalition of Democratic-led states challenging the federal government’s demand for the data.

The states argue that DHS does not have authority to obtain the records in bulk and should instead be required to issue individual subpoenas for information it seeks, according to FreightWaves.

The Trump administration asserts that access to the database is necessary to identify immigrants who are in the country illegally but have received commercial driver’s licenses from states. Federal officials say the effort is intended to determine whether licenses were improperly issued and improve highway safety.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) triumphantly shared the results of a poll released last week showing that she enjoyed a 50%-39% lead over Councilwoman Nithya Raman (D) ahead of the Nov. 3 mayoral runoff.

Bass tweeted an image of herself beside a graphic of the poll results and wrote, “Doing the work, showing up, and gaining momentum. Let’s do this, LA!”

‘The mayor’s campaign promoted a fake poll without properly vetting the source.’

Unfortunately for the Democrat, the poll — said to have been based on a survey of 560 L.A. voters between July 30 and Aug. 5 — was entirely fake, reported the Los Angeles Times.

The outfit behind the poll, which calls itself Median Strategies, announced on its website that it has “concluded its polling project and will not publish additional polls. All previously published polling releases have been withdrawn and should not be cited or treated as genuine polling data.”

Your local Kroger may be in danger of closing.

A new report has revealed 39 Kroger supermarket stores some of which are identified under a different banner have closed its doors.

The closings won’t end there though.

Dozens more are set to close its doors by the end of 2026.

Fox Business was the first to break the story and provided insight on what led Kroger to make the tough call:

Kroger has closed at least three dozen stores since announcing plans last year to shutter 60 locations that were not “delivering sustainable results” by the end of 2026.

The Cincinnati-based grocery giant did not release a full list of stores or banners slated for closure, but online searches listed 39 locations across nine banners as no longer operating. Local reports also confirmed that many of the locations were part of the broader store overhaul.

As of January 2026, Kroger operated 2,697 supermarkets across 35 states under roughly 20 banners, including Fred Meyer, Fry’s Food and Drug, Harris Teeter, Jay C, King Soopers, Mariano’s, Pick ’n Save, QFC and Ralphs, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The company said the closures are intended to help it “run more efficiently and ensure the long-term health of our business,” according to FOX 26 Houston, which reported that two Houston-area locations were slated to close in April.

The closures come as Kroger announced plans last month to acquire regional grocery chain Giant Eagle for $1.65 billion, which would add another 197 supermarkets and 11 standalone pharmacies across northern Ohio, western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland and Indiana.

Thirty academic institutions across the nation must immediately conduct research security audits under a demand coming from the U.S. Department of War, the agency announced Monday.

The notification directs the schools “to initiate immediate and comprehensive reviews of their academic, financial and research collaborations with foreign entities of concern,” according to a department news release.

The academic institutions are not named, but the release states “organizations associated with rebranded Confucius Institutes” are among them.

Confucius Institutes, funded by communist China, were set up on campuses nationwide years ago ostensibly as a cultural exchange, but they were flagged by Republican lawmakers as vectors through which China could spy on America, obtain taxpayer-funded research, and spread communist propaganda.

By 2021, the more than 100 institutes on campuses had reportedly dwindled to 27. By 2023, that number had dropped to five, according to stats from the Government Accountability Office.

The Department of War’s news release states the audit is needed “to protect American taxpayer-funded research investments from unauthorized technology transfer, intellectual property theft and adversarial exploitation.”

Far-Left Agitators Plan to Protest GOP Midterm Convention in Dallas to ‘Show Trump Regime They Are Not Welcome!’ › American Greatness amgreatness.com

A coalition of far-left agitators is planning to protest the 2026 Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas, next month, sparking concerns about security.

The Dallas Against the Trump Agenda coalition includes the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NAARPR), the DFW Anti-War Committee, El Movimiento and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO). The agitators are seeking permits, lining up legal support, organizing training, and making signs, according to the Dallas Morning News.

There is also a strong Antifa presence in the Dallas area, but they may be on their heels after eight members of a North Texas Antifa cell were recently hit with maximum or near-maximum federal prison terms amounting to a combined 450 years in prison.

Organizers of the protest reportedly say they want the GOP’s convention to include voices beyond those of “politicians, billionaires and Republican Party officials.”

President Trump on Wednesday urged fellow Republicans to attend the convention at American Airline Center in downtown Dallas on September 9 and 10,  calling it “THE GREATEST RALLY OF THEM ALL.”

NEW: Embattled Socialist Mayor Publicly Betrayed By Governor, Now Faces Recall Push trendingpoliticsnews.com

Seattle’s socialist mayor is taking fire from fellow Democrats as a recall drive threatens to cut short her rocky tenure at City Hall.

Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson appeared to take a swipe at Mayor Katie Wilson this week by reposting journalist Ari Hoffman’s blistering account of her response to the July 27 mass shooting at the Bite of Seattle food festival.

Three people were killed in the bloodshed.

Hoffman reported that Wilson refused to speak or turn on her camera during an emergency Zoom call hastily arranged for Washington leaders after the shooting.

When Hoffman filed a Freedom of Information Act request seeking records of the call, Ferguson’s office said it did not have a recording.

The Democratic governor’s account then shared Hoffman’s post targeting Wilson, an unexpected move that caught the conservative journalist by surprise.

Hoffman wrote on X that the repost “wasn’t on my bingo card for today.”

“There are no talks or conversations going on, or scheduled, with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the president wrote Tuesday on Truth Social. “The Naval Blockade remains in full force and effect. The Hormuz Strait is open and operating. All water mines have been removed or detonated.”

The memorandum of understanding with Iran was initially signed in June at the Palace of Versailles in France, as Trump was wrapping up his attendance at the G7 summit. The agreement was meant to “instantly reopen” the Strait of Hormuz and“immediately lift” the U.S. naval blockade on all Iranian vessels.

But the 60-day deadline passed without either side agreeing on how to end the Iran war that began on Feb. 28.

On Monday, Trump signaled that no extension of the agreement would occur, although the ceasefire had already fallen apart between the two sides.

“Look, we’re in there for one reason: Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, you understand that?” Trump told reporters while speaking in the Oval Office. “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, and they won’t have a nuclear weapon.”

He also told Fox News yesterday he has “no time schedule” and is “not in a hurry” to negotiate with Iran.

MIT researchers melt resin pellets and spin them into thin, stretchy fibres designed for repeated recycling.

MIT engineers have developed a new elastic yarn made from polyethylene that could offer a more recyclable alternative to conventional stretchy fibres such as spandex. The material is designed so its components can be melted together and processed into new fibre instead of requiring complex separation. In laboratory tests, the researchers melted and respun the yarn 10 times and found that it retained its strength and flexibility through the recycling cycles. The team says the yarn could eventually be used in lightweight and stretchy clothing and then recycled into fresh fibre or other plastic products. The development addresses a major problem in textile recycling because many stretchy garments contain blended fibres that are difficult to recycle together. However, the technology is still at the research stage. It has not yet become a commercial replacement for spandex.

Spoiler: Donald Trump has not deported every illegal in America with his own two hands yet. I know. Between that, Iran, and the whole $20 burrito thing, I’m as disappointed as you are. And I know keeping perspective is something that tHe NeOcOnS (huRr DeRp) tell us to do. But when Democrats are saying with their whole chests that their next presidential candidate will pledge to abolish ICE, mayhaps perspective should be somewhat kept.

I’m old enough to remember when the People Who Controlled Joe Biden Administration’s border crisis led to tens of millions of new illegals invading our country. Not to mention all the children they misplaced. Though, to be fair, “crisis” would imply the play didn’t work exactly how the People Who Controlled Joe Biden drew it up.

I’m also old enough to remember when some elements of the Marxist/Horseshoe/Woke Right attempted to tell us Ro Khanna was someone who they could find common ground with. Ro led the charge calling for the Abolish ICE resolution:

“Murders our neighbors in broad daylight”

“Cruel, rogue agency”

“Racist institution”

“Terrorizes Latino families”

Odd, considering that while this meeting was going on, potential future Speaker of the House Temu Obama didn’t have the grapefruits to say the words himself.

The “Abolish ICE” plank is just a proposed resolution. The actual democrat platform won’t be passed until the presidential convention in 2028. There is a chance that democrats, for a change, nominate someone who is open-minded and tolerant toward a single opposing viewpoint. Maybe that viewpoint is admitting ICE enforcing current immigration law is a good thing. Monkeys could also fly out of James Talarico’s butt. You always have to allow that less that 1% chance.

I just wanted to make a point to the “both sides are the same” sect of the right-wing internets. One side has not deported everyone who needs to be deported, but is doing more than anyone has before them, and is doing the best they can with all the forces they have working against them.

The other side is the democrat party, which values illegal immigrants more than they do you.

Perspective keeping.
