Secretary of State Marco Rubio is changing how the State Department will determine leadership roles in the U.S. Foreign Service by putting merit over seniority.

A State Department official told the Daily Signal that the department is “trying to fundamentally shift how the Foreign Service works, replacing an expectation of promotion with a merit-based system.” To expand the pool of individuals eligible for merit-based promotions in the Foreign Service, the State Department has downgraded approximately 200 Senior Foreign Service positions overseas.

“We are committed to ensuring that the senior ranks of the Foreign Service are populated by the people who are best equipped to advance American interests, rather than simply those who have accumulated the most years of service,” State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott told the Daily Signal.

“That means rewarding performance, leadership, and results while giving talented officers the opportunity to take on greater responsibility based on merit. The result may be fewer promotions at certain levels, but the objective is clear: a stronger, more capable leadership corps serving the American people,” Pigott continued.

The Foreign Service employs roughly 14,000 officers overseas working in U.S. embassies representing America. Prior to this reclassification, Foreign Service Officers were promoted to leadership positions on a relatively predictable timeline, even if they weren’t the right fit for a leadership role.

A/I’s cadre of radical hackers and tech developers provide a full spectrum of services – including encrypted chats and email, web hosting, secure video conferencing and streaming, anonymity shields, and a suite of other technological tools – to Marxist, anarchist, and other left-wing extremist groups in the United States, Europe, and elsewhere. The Justice Department is preparing to activate a long-dormant maritime war court to streamline military capture of Iranian oil tankers as US prizes, according to three people familiar with the plans.

Reviving prize courts, which is expected to face legal challenges, is intended to strengthen the blockade of Iran and offset the cost of the conflict.

In two separate investigations, the Washington Free Beacon has exposed some questionable tactics the Democrats appear to be using to trick the electorate into thinking El-Sayed is someone he’s not. The first involves allegations that the El-Sayed campaign paid a black pastor $82,500 to host the controversial Democrat candidate at a “clergy round table” in order to try to shore up the black vote for the campaign.

The second investigation centers on revelations that a “Soros-funded fake news site falsely identified Abdul El-Sayed as ‘Veteran’” in a mailer that was sent to voters.

On the matter of that pseudo church donation, the Free Beacon reported that when El-Sayed showed up at that “’clergy round table’ with a black Detroit pastor to whom the El-Sayed campaign has quietly paid $82,500 for ‘strategic consulting,’” he did so after realizing that black voters aren’t all that into him.

SPD confirmed Wednesday that it will stop offering incentives to both entry-level recruits and experienced officers transferring from other agencies. Applicants already moving through the hiring process, along with those who apply before the end of August, will remain eligible for the bonuses.

“I am deeply saddened by the death of a New Yorker in City custody at a jail on Rikers Island early this morning,” Mamdani said. “My thoughts are with his family and loved ones as they grieve this loss.”

Mamdani said officials have not yet determined what caused the inmate’s death.

Another oil tanker was blasted by a mystery projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, setting the vessel ablaze as Iran tightens its grip on one of the world’s most important shipping routes.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations issued a warning Thursday after local authorities reported that the tanker had been struck near Oman. The attack itself was reported Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. UTC.

“Local authorities have reported a tanker has been hit by an unknown projectile causing fire to the vessel which has since been extinguished,” the organization wrote in its warning.

“All crew are reported as safe and accounted for and there has been no report of environmental impact,” the warning continued.

No country or military group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. The identity of the vessel was not disclosed, and officials did not reveal what type of projectile struck it.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, who is running against Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) in November, indicated he would reluctantly comply with New York’s new anti-ICE law. But in doing so, he intends to join a federal lawsuit challenging the measure.

The law in question bans local police from entering into or continuing their cooperation agreements with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Nassau was one of nine New York counties that had the agreements, which allowed state law enforcement agencies to detain illegal immigrants and conduct other immigration enforcement activities in coordination with the federal government.

Hochul’s statewide ban on the 287(g) cooperation agreements took effect Tuesday, forcing Blakeman to abide by the new law.

“This is one of the saddest days of my life as county executive,” the Republican official said at a Wednesday press conference.

“I am a law-and-order county executive,” he added. “I believe in the rule of law — even when it’s a bad law. And this is a very, very bad and dangerous law. But we don’t get to pick and choose the laws that we have to enforce or abide by.”

White Muslim inmates went from 2,767 in 2022 to 3,218 by June 2025. Overall, Muslim numbers in prison rose from 14,037 to 16,051 in the same stretch. They’re now about 18 percent of the prison population in a country where Muslims are only 6.5 percent of everyone else.

Timothy says the gap “raises serious questions.” Experts have been warning for a long time about Muslim gangs pushing conversions behind bars. He wants the Labour government to look into it properly. The Ministry of Justice’s answer is the usual line: they don’t tolerate intimidation or faith-based coercion. Okay. That still doesn’t explain the figures.

Not every conversion is forced, of course. Some guys convert for the structure, the food, or just to have people watching their back. Some white Muslims grew up in the faith. Fair enough. It still doesn’t account for the size of the shift.

The Trump administration is preparing to revoke the business and tourist visas of as many as 200,000 foreigners who entered the United States as temporary visitors and later sought asylum, escalating its campaign to restore control over an immigration system systematically abused for years.

If carried out at the projected scale, the action would amount to the largest mass visa revocation in American history.

State Department documents cited by the Associated Press show the measure would apply to B1 and B2 visas issued between 2016 and 2026. Officials expect the State Department and Department of Homeland Security to carry out the revocations jointly and on a rolling basis.

Hochul announced that a new state law that bars police from cooperating with ICE agents has gone into effect. She did this because, according to the left, no human is illegal. Well, unless, of course, you are a law enforcement officer working with federal agents to uphold national security. That, in fact, would be illegal, according to Hochul.

Per CBS:

It bans local government agencies from maintaining agreements with ICE for civil enforcement. It also prohibits ICE agents from using local detention centers for civil enforcement, including mass raids.

“Local police will assist ICE only if a real crime has been committed,” Hochul said. “But on civil immigration matters, ICE is on their own.”

The problem with this claim is that breaking federal immigration laws is a crime. Can someone please clear that up for the Governor?

She said the law will help protect immigrants from aggressive enforcement while they pursue asylum claims.

What a bunch of nonsense. This is nothing more than an effort to vilify federal agents, while turning a blind eye to criminal aliens who have disregarded this country’s laws from the very start.

Back in July, state officials sent letters to 12 local law enforcement agencies that have agreements with ICE. The letters stated that they must unwind the agreements by Aug. 25.
