I was interviewed recently by the Jerusalem office of Mishpaca Jewish Family Weekly, which is targeted at the Orthodox Jewish community in its various forms, about the situation on U.S. campuses.

My interview was one of several interviews as part of an article on Degrees of Hate:

Students from Harvard, Columbia, and Cornell were interviewed, along with a Rabbi from UCLA, a Israeli Columbia law professor, and a professor at Tauro University.

The Jewish students that I’ve talked with at Cornell and other universities have been devastated by the reactions of their peers and professors since October 7. Are you surprised by what’s happened?

From WXYZ: “The 7 Investigators were the first to show you in February how patients have been alleging they were held against their will in psychiatric hospitals, or they say they were coerced into staying for treatment they don’t need. Since then, we’ve received hundreds of calls and emails from patients and family members with similar stories . . . the 7 Investigators have learned that more complaints have been filed with LARA about the psychiatrist in our story.”

CNN aired a special documentary entitled The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper: The Battle Over Transgender Athletes on Sunday that purported to be a nuanced look at the issue of transgenderism’s relationship with women’s sports. However, the program clearly had a preferred side, as it claimed there’s no evidence that men who think they are women have an athletic advantage despite showing examples of people climbing the leaderboard and setting records after their transition.

Despite his name being on the title, Cooper barely appeared during the show, instead, the documentary bounced around to various subjects who each said their own piece. In one clip, former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines was denouncing the movement in a speech, “A lot of world leaders, the message that they’re sending is that we as women don’t matter. Our safety doesn’t matter. Privacy: forget it.”

President Joe Biden underscored his record with labor union workers as he announced new, higher tariffs on Chinese imports, including a 100% rate on electric vehicles.

“I’m determined that the future of electric vehicles will be made in America by union workers,” Biden told a crowd on Tuesday in the White House Rose Garden.

Hurrying through his remarks, held under the threat of rain, Biden also criticized former President Donald Trump for his trade policy, contending Trump’s deal with China did not increase U.S. exports.

“Now, Trump and MAGA Republicans want across-the-board tariffs on all imports from all countries,” he said. “Well, that would drive up costs for families on an average of $1,500 per year each year. He simply doesn’t get it.”

The Washington Post is warning all you rubes out there that you need to stop using hot water because we need to save the earth… or something.

That’s right, folks, you low down, rabble need to stop valuing your comfort, your nice hot showers, and you hot-water to clean your dishes and clothing. How water is destroying the earth, dont’cha know?

Take the word of Allyson Chiu of the Washington Post. She knows better than you do, of course.

Just look at this nonsense:

You may not be giving a second thought to setting your washing machine on the hot cycle, cranking your showers to a steamy temperature or scrubbing your dirty dishes under a stream of scalding water.

If you did, you’d find that you probably don’t need to use so much hot water — and that you could be saving energy and cutting your utility bills. Water heating is responsible for more than 10 percent of both annual residential energy use and consumer utility costs, the biggest share after air conditioning and heating, according to the Energy Department. An American household uses an average of 64 gallons of hot water a day — close to the amount needed to fill an average bathtub — by doing laundry, showering, washing the dishes and running kitchen and bathroom faucets.

ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos said Tuesday on “The View” that the Senate Republicans who voted not to impeach former President Donald Trump were enabling his un-American “lies about the election.”

Stephanopoulos said, “I think the most important thing that people should understand go this election is how far from normal it is. We have never had a former president, presidential candidate who was impeached then indicted for trying to overturn an election. Never in all of our history, we’ve never had a former president, a presidential candidate who lies about the election that he lost. We’ve never had a former president or presidential candidate who refuses to pledge to accept the results of the next election if he lost. You know, the peaceful transfer of power is the most fundamental tenet of our democracy. Refusing to accept it is un-American. I believe it’s unconstitutional and I think it’s the job of the media to put that in context.”

The staunchly racist and anti-Semitic co-host of ABC’s The View, Sunny Hostin (the descendant of slave owners) was again allowed into the New York courtroom for former President Trump’s hush money trial and reported back to the Cackling Coven her shocking findings. Last week, she was startled by Trump’s “radioactive orange” face. This time, she was rocking brand new “binoculars” with which she deduced that there were too many white people in the courtroom.

According to the race-obsessed co-host, there were too many white people and her job was to “give a little color to the courtroom.” Even moderator Whoopi Goldberg wanted her to walk it back:

HOSTIN: I was! I was in the courtroom again yesterday. Yes, thank you.

[Applause]

Thank you. What I want to do is give a little color to the courtroom, because a lot of people –

GOLDBERG: Oh, redo that.

HOSTIN: No, no, a little color. I mean that literally and figuratively.

ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos proclaimed Tuesday that the “Deep State is packed with patriots” who “don’t care about political parties.”

What an odd thing to say, especially considering the media and Democrats for years had dismissed the existence of the Deep State as a conspiracy theory.

Stephanopoulos made the remarks on The View while discussing his book where he interviewed many bureaucrats in the intelligence agencies and military.

“Some people like to call those people the Deep State. Well, the big thing I learned doing this book is that the Deep State is packed with patriots,” he said.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is cashing in on Donald Trump’s hush-money trial in New York just hours after appearing alongside the former president as he entered the Manhattan courthouse for the fifth week of his first criminal trial.

Shortly after making remarks outside the courthouse, during which Johnson decried the charges as being politically motivated and corrupt, the House speaker’s political action committee sent out a fundraising email touting his defense of the former president. The email accuses Democrats of using Trump’s trial to interfere with the 2024 election, urging supporters to chip in to end the “political hit job.”

“President Donald Trump is on trial for one reason and one reason only: to interfere with our election. Democrats are weaponizing the justice system to defeat him,” the missive states. “Democrats are putting their fingers on the scales to interfere with an election they know they’d otherwise lose. They know they can’t beat him at the ballot box … The stakes could not be any higher. The future of our country is on the line.”

It happens frequently – weather reports promise bad activity in your area and then you awaken to clear skies and no activity. Meteorologists have little in the way of accountability, as they get to wave off their off-target predictions with explanations of an unforeseen atmospheric influence leading to their faulty forecast; somehow their inability to predict what threw off their prediction is excusable, and they go back to promising what will happen next.

The mainstream press loves to behave in this same fashion, and we saw this play out last week with another prediction of inclement legalities when Stormy Daniels testified in the Donald Trump business accounting trial. The former porn star took the stand, and her gripping, weepy accounts of her time spent with the then-mogul and future politician had the press all atitter. That this case has itself become a laughingstock was already evident, but the very fact that she took the stand was just another risible layer to the proceedings.

This is a case that normally would warrant, at most, a misdemeanor charge. But Alvin Bragg is following through on his campaign brag to punish Donald Trump, elevating his charges to a felonious case. The Department of Justice and the Federal Election Commission had previously looked over the accusations and waved them off, which was the first sign that this is all a sham.

The press wants you to think otherwise. The preamble to the Stormy appearance was full of promise that she would bring down Trump. This was laughable. She was already a compromised witness, had previously lost in court to the man, and what she could possibly reveal concerning the charges was negligible at best. That level of objectivity however was scant to be found in the media.

ABC’s “The View” co-hosts expressed their growing concern on Monday that Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s high-profile trial against former President Donald Trump might actually be boosting his 2024 presidential campaign. The trial, centered on Trump’s plea of not guilty to 34 counts related to falsifying business records, has dominated headlines, overshadowing other significant news items.

Ex-lawyer Michael Cohen, the prosecution’s star witness, testified on Monday in the case alleging hush money payments made to actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. As the prosecution wraps up its list of witnesses, anticipation builds around the defense’s forthcoming arguments.

Drama also unfolded on the set of “The View,” where the co-hosts debated the trial’s unintended media repercussions. Sara Haines highlighted the media’s obsessive coverage, noting, “I would say when you say the Biden campaign has to get more active, I actually blame the media slightly. We talked last week a lot about how I don’t think people are able to watch this Trump trial 24-7. Now we’re talking about we’re in a campaign.”

Michael Cohen’s Testimony Gets Off To A Rough Start

Deputies to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg began the quizzing with relatively innocuous questions about Cohen’s work history with Trump, who allegedly paid him $525,000 annually toward the end of the 2016 election. Cohen has maintained that he personally paid $130,000 to Stormy Daniels, an adult film star who testified last week, to silence her from speaking with reporters about a tryst with Trump more than a decade ago…

Cohen further stepped on the prosecution’s case when he described the atmosphere of his former workplace. Working for Trump, “was fantastic… working for him of those 10 years was an amazing experience… there were great times, there were less than great times, but for the most part, I enjoyed the responsibilities given to me,” he testified.

A recent paper from the Massachusetts Institution of Technology (MIT) suggests Artificial Intelligence (AI) is learning how to use various forms of deception to achieve the goals they were programmed to complete.

Peter S. Park, the paper’s author, said of the paper, ‘Generally speaking, we think AI deception arises because a deception-based strategy turned out to be the best way to perform well at the given AI’s training task. Deception helps them achieve their goals.”

Despite decades of leftists claiming that oil is running out, a new report finds that we have enough oil for 200 more years of use at current levels.

These enviro nuts have been claiming since the 51950s that the oil is running out. Apparently the “follow the science” types are off… just a bit… in their calculations.

Per Just The News:

Tom Pyle, president of the Institute for Energy Research (IER), a free market think tank focusing on energy, told Just the News that anti-fossil fuel activists latched onto “peak oil” to push for alternatives, and with the U.S. leading the world’s production, their rhetoric has evolved.

“First, they said, ‘We don’t have the resources. We’re big consumers, but we don’t have the energy. So we have to get off of the resource. Then it became evident and clear that that was not the case,” Pyle said.

In 2011, IER produced its first North American Energy Inventory.

The protests in the summer of 2020 after George Floyd’s death in police custody and today’s antisemitic, pro-Palestine protests on college campuses are rooted in the same ideology of Marxism, Katharine Gorka says.

Marxism preaches that the world “is divided between oppressor and oppressed,” says Gorka, co-author with Heritage Foundation scholar Mike Gonzalez of the new book “NextGen Marxism: What It Is and How to Combat It.” (Heritage launched The Daily Signal in 20014.)

German-born philosopher Karl Marx believed that the oppressors were the business owners and the oppressed were the workers. But Gorka says that Marxism today, or “NextGen Marxism,” holds that the “oppressors are white, Americans, Israelis, [but] some Asians … kind of the successful.”

Automakers love to wow us with the latest infotainment systems — and it’s not just to move more cars. The private data these apps gather provides a nice secondary income stream for car companies.

Dutch conglomerate Stellantis — which owns Ram, Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler, among other brands — harvests so much data that it recently started a separate company to sell it.

Overuse has blunted the power of the term “Orwellian,” but it certainly applies to the mobile surveillance states these companies have created in the vehicles they sell.

It is not alone. If your vehicle has any kind of connectivity, chances are you’ve inadvertently consented to having all sorts of data tracked: from your location and direction of travel to your speed. Not to mention the possibility of in-car audio recording.

The board at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill voted to cut funding from diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and instead divert the funds to increase public safety.

If approved by the full board, the decision would move $2.3 million to help police the campus.

“It’s important to consider the needs of all 30,000 students, not just the 100 or so that may want to disrupt the university’s operations,” said budget committee vice-chair Marty Kotis. “It takes away resources for others.”

‘I don’t think it gives a return on investment to taxpayers.’

He also said that the funds needed to be funneled to police in order to provide enough security to protect students and faculty.

“They do not have all the tools they need right now to keep this campus safe from a larger threat,” Kotis said about the police.

A woman at the Central California Facility for Women says she witnessed the immediate aftermath of a jailhouse rape by a transgender inmate.

Mimi Le provided a sworn declaration to lawyers with the Women’s Liberation Front, which will be included in the organization’s case against California, according to evidence from the filing obtained by Reduxx.

Le reportedly said she was one of many inmates who saw events involving what was described as a “sexual assault” committed by a man who identifies as a woman and was therefore locked up in a women’s prison.

On May 19, a female inmate was taken to a medical-administrative building after other female inmates reported to staff that she had been raped, Le explained, adding that she found the woman to be “barely conscious.”

Advocacy groups say schools must do more to protect staff from antisemitism

A Jewish administrator has a new home at a Catholic college after she says a “hate-filled” backlash drove her from job at Clark University

Mary Jane Rein recently resigned as executive director of the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the Massachusetts college, citing “unruly and hate-filled” backlash to her Jewish advocacy work and a lack of support from Clark’s administrators.

Now, she works at Assumption College, a Catholic institution, where she said she feels more welcome.

A Jewish advocacy organization predicted more colleges will lose valued scholars like Rein unless they do more to stop antisemitism.

Over the weekend, a Louisiana church that was filled with families and small children got a shock as a teenager dressed all in black entered the building during a first communion mass armed with a rifle.

Luckily, the parishioners acted quickly and piled on top of the would-be shooter, stopping him in his tracks.

This is an excellent reminder that people have to be aware, be vigilant, and act quickly at the first signs of trouble.

RedState has more details:

Terrifying Moments: Teenager With Gun Stopped at First Communion Mass in Louisiana

The folks at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Abbeville, Louisiana, were having a First Communion mass for about 60 kids on Saturday. They likely thought that they were going to have a beautiful celebration together.

But unfortunately, they also had some scary moments that intruded on the solemnity of the day. As the priest Fr. Nicholas Duper was on the altar, at about 48 minutes in, you can see a man come up to the altar, bend over, and whisper in his ear. That is certainly not a usual occurrence during a Catholic mass. You can see the priest absorbing something, and then he suddenly asks the parishioners to sit and to pray, as he starts to say a “Hail Mary.”…

George Mason University has at least 87 staffers working on diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, according to an analysis by The College Fix. To put that in perspective, there are 59 full-time history and art history professors employed at the school.

Of the 87 DEI posts, it’s a mix of employees and students with full-time or part-time positions working to advance DEI in some capacity, and most of those positions appear to be paid and full-time, the analysis found.

The roles include vice president for DEI and chief diversity officer, director of the Center for Culture, Equity and Empowerment, and director of faculty diversity, inclusion and well-being.

Many high school seniors lost the opportunity to attend commencement four years ago due to COVID-19 lockdowns. Now, some of those same students are graduating from college and, once again, missing out on the momentous occasion.

Columbia University, the University of Southern California, Pomona College, and Emory University, among others, recently canceled or modified their commencement ceremonies due to safety concerns after raucous pro-Palestinian protests on campus.

Other recent graduation ceremonies have been disrupted by protesters, including at Duke University, Virginia Commonwealth University, UC Berkeley, Emerson College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Axios reported.

A court in Germany ruled on Monday, May 13th that the anti-globalist, anti-immigration party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) can be designated as a “suspected extremist organisation.” This means that the domestic intelligence agency, Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV), has the right to spy on the party, using such intelligence tools as phone tapping, intercepting emails, or recruiting informants from inside the party.

In its verdict, the court said “there is sufficient evidence that the AfD pursues goals that run against the human dignity of certain groups and against democracy.” The judges added: “There are grounds to suspect at least part of the party wants to accord second-rank status to German citizens with a migration background.” Interior Minister Nancy Faeser welcomed the ruling as showing that the “state has instruments that protect our democracy from threats from within.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) — Heather Idoni, 59, who had a stroke two weeks ago, disclosed to LifeSiteNews that she is a victim of gross medical neglect at the D.C. jail, which has failed to administer essential medication for her heart while falsifying her medical record as she awaits sentencing next week for taking part in a traditional pro-life rescue.

Idoni said she received three stints above her heart for three major arteries. While she was prescribed several medications, some of which she has been given, she has been denied one essential medication prescribed by the doctor to be taken once a day to lower her blood pressure.

“It’s just the metoprolol that I’ve had a difficult time with,” she said. “I haven’t even been given one dose.”
