General Motors CEO Mary Barra said that the company will push forward with its operations in China despite a whopping loss in the country in the first quarter of 2024.

Barra recently visited China and promised that GM remained committed to the market, which has been a mainstay for the manufacturer since 1997. A $106 million loss in the first quarter in China was just GM’s third quarterly loss in the far east in the last 15 years, CNBC reported, but the company announced that it expects the numbers to turn around.

GM CFO Paul Jacobson reportedly told investors that the company expects similar or slightly lower than $446 million in profit, which is what it garnered in China in 2023.

However, 2023 was the lowest year for equity income for GM in China since at least 2012, but this has come at a much smaller market share. GM’s percentage of the market has shrunk from nearly 15% down to 8.6% in the last decade, lowering expectations.

Still, 2023’s numbers were more than $230 million lower than 2022, despite only losing 1.2% of the market share in that time. Comparatively, GM’s income in China stayed relatively the same between 2014 and 2018 despite its market share dropping by about 1%.

Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) believes that “young black kids growing up in the Bronx don’t even know what the word ‘computer’ is.”

“They don’t know,” she added. “They don’t know these things.”

This condescension toward black people has always simmered just beneath the surface of the Democrat Party (the party that fought a Civil War to hold onto their slaves, and then created the Ku Klux Klan, Jim Crow, and segregation). But earlier this month, it bubbled and then burst to the surface through Hochul’s ignorant and racist mouth.

You can watch the full video of her appearance at the “Milken Institute Fireside Chat” here. Her racist remarks are heard at about the seven-minute mark… Afterward comes my favorite part… Watch as Hochul, after spewing racism, is allowed to go on without being challenged by the event moderator, the far-left Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart. He’s such a good dog, he allows a white woman to get away with a blatant act of racism without challenging her, pushing back, or even mentioning it.

In a speech on the House floor Monday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) accused the Biden regime of holding Former Trump adviser Peter Navarro as a political prisoner, denying him access to his lawyer and refusing to allow anyone to interview him.

Navarro, 74, began serving a four month prison sentence on March 19 after a jury found him guilty of failing to respond to congressional subpoenas for documents and testimony in the U.S. House’s partisan investigation into the events at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Gaetz said that after five weeks of trying, he was directly informed by Colette S. Peters, Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, that his request to interview Navarro would be denied because the prisoner is “too notorious” to be interviewed by a member of Congress.

“John Gotti was interviewed when he was in prison,” Gaetz noted. “The QAnon Shaman was interviewed in prison. Director Peters HERSELF brought NBC News THROUGH PRISONS to showcase the work of corrections that’s being done!” he exclaimed.

The New York Times has released a trove of raw government data on the unaccompanied alien children who have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border in recent years. Among over 10,000 pages of information is data on the number of children who crossed the border into America without an adult and then were handed over to someone other than a family member.

From January 2015 through May 2023, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released tens of thousands of minors who crossed the border illegally to sponsors who weren’t an immediate or distant relative, raising concerns about human trafficking and forced labor.

“More children are crossing the border on their own than ever before, and thousands are ending up doing dangerous, illegal jobs,” New York Times reporter Hannah Dreier wrote on X in a thread sharing the numbers with the public.

The Times sued the government to gain access to the records, which reveal more than 550,000 minors crossed the border illegally between 2015, halfway through Barack Obama’s second term as president, through May 2023, about two years and four months into Joe Biden’s presidency. From 2017 through 2020, Donald Trump was president.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump walks to speak to the press at his trial for allegedly covering up hush money payments at Manhattan Criminal Court, New York, U.S. May 7, 2024.

A judge Tuesday denied a request by Donald Trump‘s lawyers to declare a mistrial in response to testimony from porn star Stormy Daniels.

“I don’t believe we’re at the point where a mistrial is warranted,” Judge Juan Merchan ruled from the bench in the former president’s New York criminal hush money trial.

The judge did, however, grant a bid by Trump’s attorneys to strike some testimony from the record.

Defense lawyers sought to scrap the historic trial after Daniels testified about the night she says she had sex with the then-married former president.

“The only reason the government asked these questions, aside from pure embarrassment, is to inflame this jury,” attorney Todd Blanche told Merchan.

Andrew Dudum, the CEO of telehealth company Hims & Hers, is facing backlash after expressing his desire to hire students who protested against Israel on college campuses. In the immediate aftermath of his comments, the company’s stock value plunged, wiping out nearly $210 million in market value.

The controversy began when Dudum, in a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), stated his willingness to employ students who participated in protests against Israel and faced disciplinary action from their universities. He framed the act as “moral courage” greater than a “college degree.” Encouraging protesters to continue their activism, Dudum said that there are many companies and CEOs eager to hire them, linking the post to the company’s job openings.

This caused outrage among many stakeholders, especially as protest actions were often linked to antisemitism and intimidation. The market quickly reacted. Hims & Hers stock fell 8% on May 3, as investors rushed to distance themselves from Dudum’s controversial comments. The company’s market value decreased from $2.62 billion to $2.41 billion in a matter of hours according to The New York Post.

Anti-Israel protesters at the University of Chicago claim that the university has agreed to an initial set of demands put forth by anti-Israel protesters who have set up an encampment at the school, but a statement put out by the school casts doubt on that claim.

In a joint post on Instagram, the National Students for Justice in Palestine, Palestinian Youth Movement, US Palestinian Community Network, and UChicago United for Palestine said the college has agreed to one item in order to start negotiations with the camp.

“As a precondition for meeting with administration, the power of our encampment forced the University to establish a Gaza Scholars at Risk Initiative, which will bring 8 at-risk Palestinian scholars to work and study at UChicago,” the groups’ statement said but added, “We’re appalled to have to pull the University’s teeth for them to protect not only academic freedom but individual human lives.”

Last week, a group of heroic Pi Kappa Phi fraternity brothers from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill saved an American flag from being torn down a desecrated by a mob of anti-Semitic/pro-Hamas student extremists. But in the week since the incident occurred, the flagship morning and evening newscasts of ABC and CBS ignored the incident, while NBC only gave their heroism in the face of evil anti-Americanism a fleeting eight seconds on NBC Nightly News two nights later.

To be fair, the broadcast networks were too busy whining about the pro-Hamas encampment at Columbia University being busted by the NYPD. ABC in particular was also busy lying about the UCLA encampment being “largely peaceful.” And CBS was busy worrying that the protests could hurt President Biden’s reelection chances.

ABC and CBS might argue that they thought that the flag-saving incident didn’t rise to a level that would allow it to be considered a national story, but that’s debunked by the fact that at least NBC gave it a few seconds.

Leftists love to believe that churches should be run like clubs — the majority rules. So they’ll make a big deal out of polls, like the Pew Research Center finding six of ten Catholics disagree with the church’s opposition to abortion. They do not ask self-identified Catholics whether they actually go to church on Sundays, or if they stopped the minute they became an adult. You would get a more conservative result.

On Tuesday, NPR’s newscast All Things Considered brought on reporter Katia Riddle to channel the views of pro-abortion Catholics, but what made it more shocking is touting a pro-abortion nun — someone who is financially supported by the Church, and who should be accepting of all the Church teachings.

KATIA RIDDLE: Today, Missouri is replete with Catholic churches, iconography and people like Sister Barbara.

SISTER BARBARA: I certainly did not intend to, you know, become a sister or a nun.

RIDDLE: She’s standing outside her modest apartment, wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. She grew up Catholic but wasn’t all that religious. In her 20s, she describes a kind of love affair she fell into with Catholicism.

If there’s a competition for the most unhinged, unglued, wackadoodle conspiracy theorist in the United States House of Representatives, Maxine Waters has to be, if not in first place, then at least in the top three. And mind you, she’s up against some pretty stiff competition. In the latest episode of “Maxine Waters Gone Wild,” she took to MSNBC to decry the violence that will ensue if former President Trump wins reelection this November – not from the left, but from some shadowy right-wing groups up in the hills.

A new report from the World Bank called for resources to be allocated away from producing red meat and dairy and instead focus production on low-carbon foods, which could lead to an increase in prices for some foods.

In a new paper, the World Bank noted wealthy nations should switch from high production of red meat and dairy, which produce high levels of carbon dioxide and are dangerous for accelerating climate change, to producing more foods such as chicken, fruits, and vegetables. It argued the switch to chicken and plant-based production is one of the more cost-effective ways to curb climate change.

“We have to stop destroying the planet as we feed ourselves,” Julian Lampietti, the World Bank’s manager for global engagement in the bank’s agriculture and food global practice, told Politico.

Litigation against pharmaceutical giant Merck regarding one of its common childhood vaccines has lingered in the court system for more than a decade even though there has been seemingly little dispute about the veracity of the fraud claims against it.

Blaze News reviewed court documents related to the Merck cases and spoke with one attorney as well as several individuals who have put together a feature film, “Protocol 7,” about the allegations made in them. According to this evidence, it appears that Merck knew about problems with the mumps component of its measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine, often referred to as MMR II, in the 1990s and has spent significant resources in the decades since to cover up those problems rather than admit the truth or improve the vaccine’s quality.

Merck’s attorneys did not respond to Blaze News’ request for comment.

From Joe Biden inviting transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney to speak with him at the White House to inviting other transgender influencers who took off their shirts on the White House lawn, the Biden administration has ensured that nation’s capital would become a hotbed of this increasing degeneracy.

A leading pro-life group tells LifeNews.com today that it refuses to follow a new Biden rule forcing employers to promote abortions.

In December 2022, Congress passed the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), a pro-life bill that aimed to make the workplace more accessible to pregnant women by requiring employers to provide accommodations to pregnant workers under The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This bill was implemented at the end of June 2023.

However, the Biden administration is manipulating the bill’s language to require that employers provide accommodations for abortion.

The PWFA requires employers to provide “reasonable accommodations to a worker’s known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, unless the accommodation will cause the employer an undue hardship.” However, the bill does not define what is considered a “reasonable accommodation,” or what is considered a “related medical condition.”

Leaders of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have told faculty to discontinue the practice of requiring mandatory diversity, equity and inclusion statements in faculty hiring.

“On Saturday, an MIT spokesperson confirmed in an email to me that ‘requests for a statement on diversity will no longer be part of applications for any faculty positions at MIT,’ adding that the decision was made by embattled MIT President Sally Kornbluth ‘with the support of the Provost, Chancellor, and all six academic deans,’” John Sailer reported for Unherd.

“…In a statement provided to me via email, president Kornbluth notes: ‘We can build an inclusive environment in many ways, but compelled statements impinge on freedom of expression, and they don’t work.’”

He described it as a “watershed moment” because MIT is “the first elite private university to backtrack on the practice that has been roundly criticised as a political litmus test.”

The Libertarian Party invited Donald Trump to be their headline speaker at their party’s convention later this month. Now, Libertarians are a little goofy, but they agree with conservatives on some important issues, especially on fiscal issues like low taxes, restrained spending, and the limited role government should play in society.

Grabbing a headliner like Trump for their national convention would seem to be a coup for the minor Libertarian Party. And many Libertarians see it that way.

But there are some Libertarians who agree more with the socially liberal Democratic Party and hence have been bad-mouthing Trump’s appearance.

Libertarian Party National Committee Chair Angela McArdle told The Washington Post that opposition has come from “a small noisy faction,” and the dissent will not change her mind about inviting Trump.

“I can certainly understand that there are a handful of people allergic to relevance, afraid to confront their political opposition, afraid of losing control of the narrative,” she said, “but in 50-plus years, the Libertarian Party has never been on the main stage politically and this is an incredible opportunity for us to bring someone who grabs the spotlight and put them on our stage.”

Biden’s remarks come in the face of antisemitic protests that have roiled college campuses. Many people feel that not only has Biden not spoken out enough about the issue but that he also “both sides” it by doing things like talking about Islamophobia in an attempt to appeal to leftist voters.

Israel’s initial assault on the Rafah border crossing has successfully given the IDF “operational control” of the Gazan side of the Rafah crossing with Egypt. Israel is signaling that this will be the jumping-off point for the main thrust into the city.

The border operation resulted in the killing of 20 Hamas fighters, as well as the discovery of three operational tunnels. The IDF is taking its time searching for other “infrastructure” in the area. In the meantime, the crossing has been closed to all aid deliveries and all traffic. The IDF is sealing Rafah as tight as a drum and is ratcheting up pressure on Hamas to agree to a real ceasefire deal, not the bogus agreement that Hamas said it would accept just minutes before the attack on the border crossing began.

After false claims from Hamas that they accepted a ceasefire agreement Monday, playing games in hopes of staving off further military action against them in the Gaza Strip, Israel is moving forward with a ground operation into Rafah.

The southern city near the border with Egypt is crawling with thousands of Hamas terrorists who are holding hundreds of hostages, including Americans. Earlier in the day the Israeli Defense Forces dropped leaflets warning non-combatants to evacuate.

The White House confirmed that Hamas had submitted a positive ceasefire response on Monday but declined to discuss the parameters or say if it was the proposal put forth by the United States, Israel, and other regional allies.

The terrorist group responsible for the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel said Monday afternoon that it had accepted a three-tiered ceasefire proposal that would allow for hostages held by Hamas and Palestinians arrested by Israeli forces to be released.

However, Israeli officials said in public statements that the proposal Hamas accepted was a watered-down version and would not be accepted by the Israeli government.

According to the Daily Mail,

Chinese scientists have engineered a virus with parts of Ebola in a lab that killed a group of hamsters.

A team of researchers at Hebei Medical University used a contagious disease of livestock and added a protein found in Ebola, which allows the virus to infect cells and spread throughout the human body.

The group of hamsters that received the lethal injection ‘developed severe systemic diseases similar to those observed in human Ebola patients,’ including multi-organ failure,’ the study shared.

First on MRC Business: George Soros’ Open Society Foundations sunk massive amounts of cash into several universities—most of which have been a breeding ground for radical anti-Israel students and whose administrations responded poorly to protestors, agitators and rioters trespassing, breaking into and occupying buildings and harassing Jewish students.

Both the New York Post and Politico have reported on Soros’ connections to the groups leading the anti-Israel protests. And now, an MRC Business investigation exposed how Soros has also given at least $34,638,060 to the nine universities that have made headlines for their slow response to anti-Semitic protests and riots, as well as their ineffectual or possibly even sympathetic administrators.

Among the recipients of Soros funding connections were Columbia University, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of North Carolina (UNC), University of Southern California (USC), City University of New York (CUNY), the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and, of course, the University of California Berkeley from 2016 to 2022.

Soros also poured money into media and journalism-related initiatives at several of these schools, including $2,399,360 to Harvard, $1,827,560 to Columbia, $366,369 to UNC and $125,000 to CUNY.

Late last year, six of the LLGB’s
12 trustees took a stand against the directors’ attempt to insert mentally-compromised men into women’s spaces nationwide, indicating that the demand contravened British law, which protects sex-segregated spaces. They implored the U.S.-based board to permit the organization to remain single-sex, as groups in Muslim countries and other nations resistant to gender ideology are permitted.

The international wing of the LLL responded in February, “We focus on providing breastfeeding support and understand the importance of making our spaces welcoming to all those who want to breastfeed or give their babies human milk.”

“We don’t argue with parents or other leaders about how they identify; we accept them with respect, just as they say they are, and do not refer to them with words that conflict with their identity,” added LLLI.

For having dared to suggest that babies deserve real breast milk contra some drug-induced slurry from fetishists, the LLLI suspended the dissenting trustees, stating, “The continued promotion of LLL as an organization that excludes people is damaging to LLL’s credibility.”…

The ousted trustees said in a
statement obtained by the maternity care advocacy coalition With Woman, “La Leche League (LLL) has always been about mother-to-mother support to breastfeed. Being able to provide a female-only service is fundamental to the rights, safety and wellbeing of both mothers and babies.”

“Pressure to abandon mother-only breastfeeding services has been building internationally at LLL for several years as gender-identity activism has gathered force,” continued the statement. “We are now at the point that group leaders around the world are being told they must support ‘male lactation.'”

Comedian and podcast host Russell Brand shared a video on social media discussing his first week living as a baptized Christian, in which he described the reawakening he has experienced since getting baptized.

Brand started his video by showcasing a crucifix and described the “incredible” baptism he had inside of his home. He also detailed how someone attending the ceremony injured his foot and had to get hospital treatment, with Brand joking that he went right from getting baptized to living out the Christian lifestyle of helping others.

“The main thing is that since it, there’s been a different connection,” Brand said. “I do see what an amazing gift it is.”

The podcast host noted how some people will prevent others from experiencing the feeling of awakening and questioned if this form of suppression is unique to Christianity. He added that some people want others to be controlled “by their material models” instead of experiencing the feeling of awakening that Christianity offers.

In yet another blow to DEI initiatives across the country, three white former executives with the Department of Education in New York City will soon receive a hefty payout after they had allegedly been demoted in favor of “less-qualified” employees “of color,” the New York Post reported.

Five years ago, Lois Hererra, Jaye Murray, and Laura Feijoo filed a lawsuit alleging that the city’s DOE had discriminated against them on the basis of their race, as Blaze News previously reported. The lawsuit originally sought $90 million in damages.

Hererra, a Harvard alumna who had become executive director of the Office of Safety and Youth Development following decades at the agency, had been demoted in favor of Mark Rampersant, a black man with a GED. Murray, a former executive director of the Office of Counseling Support Programs, was demoted three rungs and had to report to Rampersant at one point. Finally, Feijoo, a former senior supervising superintendent who once supervised all other DOE superintendents was passed over for an opening at deputy chancellor by one of her black subordinates, Cheryl Watson-Harris, who did not even have the license necessary for the position at the time she was hired.

Democratic Attorney General Letitia James of New York sued multiple crisis pregnancy centers on Monday over their promotion of the abortion pill reversal.

James targeted 11 crisis pregnancy centers in the state, accusing them of “misleading” pregnant women about whether medication abortion can be reversed, according to the court filing. James claimed that the centers, along with organization Heartbeat International, engaged in “deceptive acts or practices” and “false advertising.” (RELATED: NRA Scores Court Victory Against NY AG Letitia James)

“Abortions cannot be reversed. Any treatments that claim to do so are made without scientific evidence and could be unsafe,” James said in a Monday press release. “Heartbeat International and the other crisis pregnancy center defendants are spreading dangerous misinformation by advertising ‘abortion reversals’ without any medical and scientific proof.

Heartbeat International highlights on its website 17 cases from its “Abortion Pill Rescue Network,” which connects women who have taken an abortion pill with a medical provider to begin the reversal process.

ANALYSIS: Republican speakers absent at Ivy League universities, most Big Ten universities

Democrats will again outnumber Republicans as commencement speakers this spring, according to an analysis from The College Fix.

The Fix found similar results last year, after reviewing public statements, news articles, and political donations to determine party affiliation. The Fix reviewed the main graduation speakers at the Southeastern Conference, the Ivy League, and the Big Ten.

Four Republican speakers could be identified among the 36 colleges examined by The Fix. By contrast, The Fix identified 11 keynote speakers who are Democrats. Some universities have not announced their main speakers yet, do not have them, or select students. The analysis only looked at the university-wide ceremony or the undergraduate ceremonies, not those of individual colleges or graduate programs.

After the Biden administration released its new Title IX rule on April 19, it took less than two weeks for the Defense of Freedom Institute to file a lawsuit against it.

“We are asking the court to … basically stop the effect of the regulations for a variety of legal reasons,” says Robert Eitel, the institute’s co-founder and president. That’s because the rule change is “simply unlawful,” he explained.

Among the changes to Title IX, the Biden administration is attempting to redefine sex to include gender identity and sexual orientation. Title IX is an education amendment that was signed into law by President Richard Nixon in 1972 and requires there be equal opportunities for men and women in schools across the country.

Eitel says the Biden administration’s attempt to redefine sex in Title IX is “federal overreach.”

The states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, and Idaho filed the suit with the Washington-based Defense of Freedom Institute, a conservative nonprofit dedicated to providing policy and legal solutions within the spheres of education and the workforce.

The April 30 outreach at CVS near Baylor University is the 4th location for Pharmacy Outreach in Waco, Texas. Pro-Life Waco launched Pharmacy Outreach soon after CVS and Walgreens announced their intentions to enter the abortion industry in January of 2023. Regrettably, these corporations began filling chemical abortion prescriptions in March of 2024 in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, California, Illinois, and Rhode Island.

The dreadful CVS and Walgreens decisions created thousands of potential venues for ongoing public square outreach. From pharmacy public rights-of-way we can simultaneously engage the pro-life faithful, the pro-abortion hostile, and, most importantly, the undecided of the “mushy middle”. Both chains operate in all 50 states with a combined 18,000 pharmacy locations.

Each CVS and Walgreens location has its pluses and minuses. We expected this CVS near Baylor to offer many opportunities to distribute our Chemical Abortion flyers, along with holding signs. The heavy stop-and-go traffic from 11:30 to 1 p.m. did not disappoint. During each stop-light cycle, five to ten cars were stationary next to “our” sidewalk.

The always energetic Lisa Muller Muñoz offered a smile and an abortion pill flyer to each of these drivers. Over 100 accepted, some with a brief (mostly friendly) chat. Lisa summed up her engagement time, “It’s an amazing experience doing the Lord’s work by sharing truth. It’s a joy when a person accepts a flyer and agrees to learn the details of chemical abortion.  I am encouraged when a traveler thanks us for being out there. It’s a brief koinonia of sorts.”

LifeNews is on TruthSocial. Please follow us here.

We hoped to interact with Baylor students. This happened as well. At lunchtime, many students drive to nearby fast-food restaurants. One was Anna Bjorklund. Our outgoing Melissa Manning recalls, “As Anna walked toward us wearing a Baylor t-shirt we wondered if she was with us or not. She spotted us while driving, was curious, and supported pro-life all the way. She promised to join us this summer and work for more pro-life support with Baylor student organizations in the fall. Making ourselves visible to the public is instant networking!”

CVS near Baylor will become Pro-Life Waco’s second monthly Pharmacy Outreach. This event will be on the last Wednesday of each month from 11:30 to 1 p.m. After our spirited initiative, PLW will provide lunch and fellowship at the nearby Panera Bread. See more about the past and the future of Pharmacy Outreach in Waco.

Pro-Life Waco is taking its commitment to Pharmacy Outreach nationwide. We will provide a free “start-up kit” to any individual or group willing to join the national collaboration (12 cities at this point) with pharmacy outreach on at least four occasions.

The Pharmacy Outreach kit features six large, corrugated plastic signs. The protest signs are 2’x2’ and 2’x4’, printed two-sided on corrugated plastic. You will also receive 100 copies and a PDF file of our Chemical Abortion flyer. Pharmacy Outreach is a powerful educational tool to challenge chemical abortion lies whether the source of the pills is pharmacies, mail orders, or abortion centers. See the details of the PLW Pharmacy Outreach offer that can bring a fast launch at CVS or Walgreens in your hometown.

LifeNews Note: John Pisciotta is the director of Pro-Life Waco.
