At 10:30 p.m. ET on July 22, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces completed another round of strikes against Iran for the 12th consecutive night.

U.S. forces struck Iranian military targets including maritime capabilities, missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance sites, and air defense assets. The strikes further degrade Iran’s ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial vessels.

This month, American forces have targeted dozens of Iranian military sites on land while resuming a blockade against Iran at sea. As of today, CENTCOM has redirected nine commercial vessels and disabled one to prevent ships from entering or departing Iranian ports.

As a result of contentious Democratic primaries in Michigan, Maine, and New York, I’ve been reading a lot of conversation about the role that class plays in voting patterns in the United States. In these primaries, candidates like Graham Platner and Abdul El-Sayed who are associated with democratic socialism often claim to have the mandate of the working class. But in practice, their strengths tend to be with college-educated voters. Even before his scandals, Platner wasn’t particularly doing better among voters without college degrees than previous (losing) Democratic nominees in Maine. El-Sayed has relatively weak support from Black voters in polls, meanwhile…

I’m reminded here of Peter Turchin’s elite overproduction hypothesis. It basically argues that America is producing “too many” college graduates relative to the number of high-prestige, well-paying jobs available to them. People who wind up in this situation often carry heavy student loan burdens or other sorts of debt. Even if their material situation is objectively “just fine,” it’s rarely great. They’re gloomy about their own financial prospects, and feel aggrieved about the state of the country. Their class status is ambiguous: privileged in some senses, but they’re part of the “have-nots” in other meaningful ways.

On July 9, Liberty Counsel filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Baton Rouge and the East Baton Rouge Parish Library system on behalf of a library technician who was allegedly terminated for refusing to use preferred gender pronouns that conflicted with his Christian beliefs.

The complaint, which also names the Metropolitan Council and the Library Board of Control, contends that the library’s “Inclusivity Policy” violates the First Amendment and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by forcing employees to engage in compelled speech and denying reasonable religious accommodations.

The plaintiff is Luke Ash, the lead pastor of Stevendale Baptist Church. Like many pastors of smaller churches, he also worked a full-time day job to support himself and his family while serving his congregation during evenings and weekends. In March 2025, he took a job as a library technician for the East Baton Rouge Parish Library and worked there without incident — until he was abruptly terminated from his position.

His offense? Respectfully refusing to lie by using false, gender-deluded pronouns to refer to a biological female coworker.

For American evangelical Christians, this is yet another crucial moment that exposes the dangerous, hostile nature of gender ideology. When the government demands that Christians speak lies that violate God’s truth, it is time for the Church to stand up and say: We will not bow.

Releasing prisoners back onto the street does nothing to protect the public. This is why it is bizarre and evil, to say the very least, that the DSA continues to fight for the release of people who have been convicted of a crime.

According to NYC DSA Co-Chair Grace Mausser, the United States has far too many prisoners, especially compared to the rest of the world. She implies this somehow proves those people don’t deserve to be in prison, despite everyone being innocent until proven guilty. Rather than prove the current system is evil, and thus everyone should be exonerated of their crimes, she thinks throwing out random data points somehow makes her point, which is extremely lacking.

If the best argument you have is quoting Bernie Sanders, you have no point whatsoever. In fact, she has proven herself to be nothing more than a parrot for the far-left, while showing the world how naive she truly is.

Mausser believes we have an over-incarceration problem. She added that, “The radical thing is not the idea that we should decrease our incarcerated population.” The problem with that statement is that this is the most radical point in the history of opinions. Abolishing prisons, which is essentially what these people want, is solely intended to destroy and cause destruction. People like Mausser fool no one with their cherry-picking of random numbers, as if that somehow proves those people ought not to be in prison.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche spent about an hour Thursday afternoon at the Justice Department with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse. The meeting resolved nothing. Blanche told reporters afterward that the meeting was not entirely cordial because the survivors wanted “some form of justice” he did not believe he could deliver. The survivors described deflection and no credible plan for accountability.

That meeting did not deliver justice. It did show that advice and consent still mean something when a senator treats his vote as leverage rather than a ceremony.

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, where the arithmetic on this nomination is tight. With Democrats opposed, his vote could determine whether the committee advances Blanche at all. On Wednesday, Blanche cited ethical restrictions on meeting directly with survivors who have lawyers, while insisting the department had dealt with their representatives. On Thursday, survivors testified that their requests had gone unanswered. Tillis drew a line. He said he had not made a final decision, and then he said he expected the meeting to happen before the committee marks up the nomination. “I’m trying to get to yes,” he told the room.
