Cannon Rejects Trump’s Dismissal Plea but Warns Prosecutor is Mixing Narrative with Fact

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon rejected Donald Trump’s plea to dismiss charges, but she did remove a part of the indictment claiming Trump showed a military map to an unauthorized person, adding that it was inappropriate for special counsel Jack Smith to even list it.

Cannon stated, “The identified deficiencies, even if generating some arguable confusion, are either permitted by law, raise evidentiary challenges not appropriate for disposition at this juncture, and/or do not require dismissal even if technically deficient, so long as the jury is instructed appropriately and presented with adequate verdict forms as to each Defendants’ alleged conduct.

Having reviewed these arguments in their totality and carefully considered the Superseding Indictment as a whole, the Court agrees that much of the language in the Superseding Indictment is legally unnecessary to serve the function of an indictment as explained in the foregoing caselaw. The Court also notes the risks that can flow from a prosecutor’s decision to include in a charging document an extensive narrative account of his or her view of the facts, especially in cases of significant public interest.”

The federal judge overseeing the trial of former President Donald Trump on charges of mishandling classified documents on Monday rejected a bid from Trump’s lawyers to have multiple charges dismissed.

U.S. District Judge Alieen Cannon did, however, strike one part of the indictment against Trump that claimed he showed a military map to a former aide who did not have sufficient clearance to view it, according to the Washington Examiner.

In her ruling in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Cannon took a sour tone concerning the indictment brought by special counsel Jack Smith but said most of the claims from Trump did not rise to the level of tossing out the charges against him.

House Republicans have released a video of Nancy Pelosi recorded on January 6, 2021, which reveals Pelosi was the one who decided not to active the National Guard ahead of the planned protest of the mass mailer election by American citizens.

Pelosi can be heard on video, saying “We have responsibility, Terri,” Pelosi is heard saying on the videotape to her chief of staff, Terri McCullough. “We did not have any accountability for what was going on there, and we should have. House Republicans say newly obtained footage of former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi on January 6 undermines a years-old narrative about the security failures on Jan. 6.

The video, taken by Pelosi’s daughter Alexandra as she’s being led away from the Capitol, was obtained by House Republicans from HBO. Alexandra had helped the network with a documentary about the J6 riot, but the full clip was not released until Monday.

Pelosi can be heard saying “I take responsibility” for the security failures.

Canada’s National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians (NSICOP) has issued a report that claims members of Parliament are engaging in acts of treason by assisting foreign governments in interfering with national elections, including past elections in 2019 and 2021. The report was heavily redacted, not revealing the names of the members.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said, “The national security committee indicates there are members of this House that have knowingly worked for foreign hostile governments. Canadians have a right to know who and what is the information — who are they?”

The Canadian Parliament is in the grip of dramatic allegations from a national security committee that some lawmakers assisted a foreign government in interfering in the 2019 and 2021 elections.

The bombshell report gives few details. No names have been named, no party singled out. But Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is refusing to fill in the blanks, leading to wild speculation that it is his party that’s involved in treason.

The heavily redacted, 92-page report from the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians (NSICOP) is a separate investigation from an inquiry into election interference by foreign powers in those elections.

“The national security committee indicates there are members of this House that have knowingly worked for foreign hostile governments,” Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said Wednesday. “Canadians have a right to know who and what is the information — who are they?”

The NSICOP said it reviewed intelligence that suggests “semi-witting or witting” members of Parliament have worked with foreign countries, “to mobilize voters during a political campaign; have taken cash ‘knowingly or through willful blindness’ from foreign missions or their proxies; and have shared privileged information with foreign diplomatic officials.”

Yeah, treason.

Politico:

One of the most damaging lines in Monday’s report points out Canada’s failure to address long-standing challenges in how national security information can be used in criminal proceedings. The report says this is one reason why criminal charges for the potentially illegal activities are unlikely.

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland told reporters Tuesday that she takes the issue seriously. She deflected when asked if Canadians have the right to know the identity of the parliamentarians involved.

“We should recognize this is a new time,” she said, adding that authoritarians want to undermine democracies by sowing public distrust in government.

 

Freeland will not commit to releasing any names. Evidently, “transparency” is something reserved for members of the Conservative Party.

Justice Marie-Josée Hogue is conducting the parallel investigation into foreign interference in Canadian elections. Her commission is investigating “claims that the Chinese government helped mobilize voters against a Conservative candidate in western Canada and helped elect another as a Liberal in the Toronto area,” according to Politico.

Which members of Parliament are assisting foreign governments in interfering in elections?

“We all know that no responsible government would reveal names under these types of confidential circumstances,” Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc responded on the floor of the House of Commons.

Do we all know that?

“It’s important for Canadians to understand that these names are contained in intelligence reports, in some cases, it’s uncorroborated or unverified intelligence information,” he told a parliamentary committee studying foreign interference. “The idea that there’s a perfect list of names that is entirely reliable that should be released to the public is simply irresponsible.”

David McGuinty, chair of the NSICOP, which published the buzzy redacted report, said the decision to publicize the names of lawmakers is outside of his control.

McGuinty and the nine other NSICOP members with top-secret security clearance are bound by Canada’s Security of Information Act and risk prosecution if they inadvertently reveal classified information, he said.

He wouldn’t say if he’s bothered by sitting in the same party caucus with potential abettors of foreign interference.

“I’m more concerned about the fact that now the government has to move forward on this,” McGuinty said.

 

Conservative MP Michael Chong, whom China has been targeting for his advocacy on behalf of Uyghurs, is demanding that the committee release the names. China had spied on him and his family, and he wanted to know which of his colleagues was helping them.

“Certain members of this House acted in the best interest of hostile foreign regimes interfering in Canada’s democracy. This is a disgusting betrayal of Canadians who elected us,” party legislator Jasraj Singh Hallan told the House on Monday.

Indeed it is.

Europe’s Left Buckles After EU Parliament Elections Give Right Major Victories

The backlash against leftist policies in Europe continues as the right and the center-right make significant gains at the expense of the far-left in the latest EU Parliament election The biggest successes were in France, Germany, and Belgium. In France, Macron’s party lost so badly he immediately dissolved the parliament and called for flash elections.

In Germany, the Greens have faded to near irrelevancy, while the right’s AfD party surpassed Germany’s ruling party in votes, undermining PM Scholz’ legitimacy as the leader of the country. Belgium’s PM, Alexander De Croo, resigned after his party was crushed in the election. The Austrian Freedom Party garnered the most votes in the election with 25.7 percent of the votes going to them.

The results may also help alleviate the suffering of European farmers and ordinary citizens who are being crushed by ludicrous Green New Deal-esque policies. The Greens were reportedly crushed across most of Europe, including in Germany where they have been aggressive in pushing ridiculous policies hobbling farming and food production.

… In France, the National Rally party of Marine Le Pen dominated the polls to such an extent that Macron immediately dissolved the national parliament and called for new elections, a massive political risk since his party could suffer more losses, hobbling the rest of his presidential term that ends in 2027.

. . . . In Germany, the most populous nation in the 27-member bloc, projections indicated that the AfD overcame a string of scandals involving its top candidate to rise to 16.5%, up from 11% in 2019. In comparison, the combined result for the three parties in the German governing coalition barely topped 30%.

Scholz suffered such an ignominious fate that his long-established Social Democratic party fell behind the extreme-right Alternative for Germany, which surged into second place. “After all the prophecies of doom, after the barrage of the last few weeks, we are the second strongest force,” a jubilant AfD leader Alice Weidel said.

… Overall across the EU, two mainstream and pro-European groups, the Christian Democrats and the Socialists, remained the dominant forces. The gains of the far right came at the expense of the Greens, who were expected to lose about 20 seats and fall back to sixth position in the legislature. Macron’s pro-business Renew group also lost big.

. . . . Germany, traditionally a stronghold for environmentalists, exemplified the humbling of the Greens, who were predicted to fall from 20% to 12%. With further losses expected in France and elsewhere, the defeat of the Greens could well have an impact on the EU’s overall climate change policies, still the most progressive across the globe.

 

The Austrian “far-right” Freedom Party came out on top in the EU elections, winning 25.7% of the votes and beating their rivals. The “moderates” and the Greens lost. They hope to maintain their momentum in the upcoming general elections.

France has a 5% cut-off to enter the chamber. They very nearly had no seats at all. And the Greens spend A LOT on the European elections. It’s where they win their most votes.

Also in Spain the right-wing Vox party is making gains, becoming the third largest party with around 10% of the votes.

Four instructors with ties to an Iowa college were stabbed in China on Monday. Their injuries were described as not life-threatening.

The four Americans from Cornell College, which has no connection to Cornell University in New York state, were attacked about noon, while touring a park in Jilin, a city in the northeastern part of the country, according to reports.

Hunter Convicted on All Three Felony Counts

The son of Mass Mailer President Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, has been convicted by a Wilmington, DE jury of three felony offenses related to a purchase of a revolver in October 2018 where he claimed in the background check he had not been under the influence of illegal drugs.

Biden faces up to 25 years in jail, which is considerably less than he would face if he were charged with some of the crimes many suspect he took when he appears to have been the frontman of a family operation selling American interest to her foreign enemies for millions of dollars.  The verdict comes only after the presiding Judge, District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika, cancelled the original plea deal Special Investigator David Weiss had struck with Hunter.

A Delaware jury convicted Hunter Biden on three felony gun charges Tuesday.

Special counsel David Weiss charged Hunter Biden in September on three counts relating to his purchase of a Colt Cobra revolver in October 2018, alleging he knowingly possessed the gun while addicted to drugs and made false statements on the purchase form. The jury found him guilty on all counts.

Hunter Biden was indicted on separate tax charges in December.

Last July, a deal that would have had Hunter Biden plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and enter a diversion agreement for a felony gun charge fell apart under questioning by District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika, who voiced concerns about an immunity provision included in the diversion agreement. The diversion agreement stated Hunter Biden would not be criminally prosecuted for any crimes encompassed by the statement of facts in his plea deal, which listed the millions of dollars he received through foreign business dealings in China, Ukraine and Romania.

The payments, along with President Joe Biden’s involvement in his son’s business dealings, have been the subject of investigations by the House Oversight Committee.

Prosecutor Leo Wise admitted to Noreika at the time that he was not aware of precedent for an agreement not to prosecute crimes “that have nothing to do with the case or the charges being diverted.”

Last year, a radical abortion ballot initiative passed in the solid red state of Ohio, shocking pro-lifers across the country. The results weren’t even close: 56.78% of Ohio voters backed a ballot initiative to write “reproductive rights” into the state constitution, while only 43.22% opposed it.

How did it happen? The Left’s dark money network provides a key part of the explanation, and the Buckeye State just approved a law to prevent the kind of foreign funding that helped boost abortion across the finish line last year.

While the Left has long demonized “dark money,” the term merely refers to funds that influence American politics and policy without disclosing donors. Most nonprofits are forms of dark money influence, but a network of pass-through nonprofits on the Left further cloaks dark money, and the Left’s dark money network spent more than comparable groups on the Right in 2020.

According to the Ohio Secretary of State’s records, pro-abortion forces spent $53.8 million to back the initiative, while pro-life advocates spent $36.1 million to oppose it. A large chunk of the pro-abortion funding ($8.2 million) came from one left-wing dark money group, the Sixteen Thirty Fund.

United Kingdom Enacts ‘Emergency Ban’ on Puberty Blockers for Minors

On Wednesday, the government of the United Kingdom declared a new “emergency ban” on the prescription and distribution of puberty blockers for underaged children, in yet another defeat for the transgenderism movement.

As the Daily Caller reports, the latest announcement follows previous decisions by England and Scotland in March and April, respectively, to halt the use of puberty blockers for minors under the age of 18, as the long-term physical and mental effects of such treatments are still not yet fully understood.

The new regulation will be enacted over a three-month period from June 3rd to September 3rd, during which private prescribers in England, Scotland, and Wales, plus “prescribers registered in the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland,” will be forbidden from offering puberty blockers as a treatment for gender dysphoria. The ban will also prevent providers from participating in the “sale or supply” of such treatments.

“During this period no new patients under 18 will be prescribed these medicines for the purposes of puberty suppression in those experiencing gender dysphoria/incongruence under the care of these prescribers,” the government announcement reads. “In addition, the government has also introduced indefinite restrictions to the prescribing of these medicines within [National Health Service] primary care in England, in line with NHS guidelines.”

The drugs affected by this ban include “gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues – medicines that consist of, or contain, buserelin, gonadorelin, goserelin, leuprorelin acetate, nafarelin, or triptorelin.” Patients over the age of 18 will still be allowed to access such drugs. Also, minors who have already been on such medication for 6 months or more prior to June 3rd will be permitted to continue getting prescriptions for puberty blockers.

In recent months, the U.K. has cracked down on the promotion and use of puberty blockers, gender mutilation surgery, and other procedures championed by the transgender movement, which falsely believes that there are more than two genders and that anyone can simply change their gender at any given time.

A major milestone in the fight against transgenderism was the release of the Cass Review, a comprehensive report by pediatric consultant Dr. Hillary Cass, the former president of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health. In her report, Dr. Cass concluded that there was “weak evidence” behind the theory that puberty blockers were a beneficial treatment for minors, and that the research claiming that such treatments are largely harmless was “insufficient” and “inconsistent.”
