Civil rights grifter Al Sharpton has accused President Donald Trump of “race-baiting” by taking federal control of the police department in Washington, D.C., to crack down on violent crime in the nation’s capital.

During a Tuesday appearance on MSNBC’s “Chris Jansing Reports,” Sharpton claimed that Trump is targeting “black mayors” by deploying the National Guard to tackle surging crime.

“Reverand” Sharpton promoted the Left’s false claim that violent crime has reduced in D.C. and other Democrat-run cities.

“The data says that crime and violent crime has gone down in Washington, he’s going to send out the National Guard,” Sharpton alleged.

Tyrannical New York Governor Kathy Hochul is fuming over the Texas State Legislature’s decision to engage in mid-decade redistricting to add more Republicans and is determined to counter by any means necessary, regardless of what the law in her state allows.

During a press conference in Albany on Monday, where some of the Texas fleebaggers are residing, Hochul called for the New York Redistricting Commission to be completely disbanded so the state legislature can ram through a heavily gerrymandered map in contrast to the somewhat fair current ones.

“I’m tired of fighting this fight with my hand tied behind my back,” she said. “With all due respect to the good government groups, politics is a political process, and to think we are going to do this with a purity test and make sure it is completely fair to everyone involved…The reason we are able to draw the lines as Democrats is because the majority of people in this state elected us to be leaders.”

“And when we say we cannot use this power to its fullest, we are abdicating the responsibility that we all have. (If) Republicans take over the legislature, they can have at it, but until then, we’re in charge, and we’re sick and tired of being pushed around when other states don’t have the same aspirations that we always have had.”

After the Supreme Court signaled on Oct. 1 that it would seek to probe whether or not states violate the Constitution when they attempt to remedy violations of the Voting Rights Act by adding an additional majority-minority district to make sure that Black voters and voters of color have an equal chance to elect the candidate of their choice, election law experts began to sound the alarm regarding what the Supreme Court could do to bring about the end of the Voting Rights Act.

As one expert, Rick Hasen, of the UCLA School of Law, wrote in his blog, he believes that the Supreme Court is taking “a big, and dangerous, step toward knocking down” a key component of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

According to CNN, the case, which will test whether or not the State of Louisiana’s “intentional creation of a second majority-minority congressional district violates the Fourteenth or Fifteenth Amendments to the U. S. Constitution,” is regarded as one of the most important appeals the court will issue rulings on over the back half of the judiciary calendar.

The case has been decided differently by two federal courts; one ruled that the state violated the Constitution by drawing only one majority-Black district out of the six that currently comprise the state. When it tried to remedy that problem by drawing another majority-Black district, another federal court said that it violated the Constitution by relying too much on race to meet that court’s demands, which seems to directly contradict language in Section 2 of the VRA.

President Trump’s growing use of military force in immigration enforcement is a dangerous erosion of the line between civilian and military authority—one that threatens the constitutional balance and civil liberties at the heart of American democracy.

A newly leaked Department of Homeland Security memo obtained by The New Republic, combined with recent federal court rulings and press coverage of indiscriminate enforcement in Los Angeles, reveals a chilling effort to use military force against civilian populations under the pretext of immigration control.

The memo urges senior Pentagon leaders to deepen cooperation with DHS on immigration operations—not just at the southern border, but in cities like Los Angeles. It calls for military personnel to be detailed inside Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection to support planning and operational logistics. It praises recent military-style raids in Los Angeles as a model for future deployments and likens threats from Central and South American street gangs to those posed by Al Qaeda or ISIS.

The document reveals a July 21 meeting between top DHS and Department of Defense officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine, and NORTHCOM Commander Gregory Guillot. The aim of the meeting was to secure high-level buy-in from Pentagon leadership to increase the role of the military in domestic immigration enforcement.

After Gov. Greg Abbott threatened to have the state House Democrats who left the state to deny Republicans a quorum so that they could pass a new gerrymandered election map, Texas House Minority Leader Gene Wu went on CNN’s News Central and during an interview with John Berman discussed Abbott’s threat.

Video:

Rep. Wu said:

First of all, I would say, you know what? Today is a great day to end the corruption of Greg Abbott. This has gone on far too long.

The public has been enraged about this. How politicians continue to tell the public pretty words, but never actually do what they say they would do. This is Governor Abbott being upset about that because he’s been caught doing exactly that. And to Governor Abbott, frankly, he doesn’t know how to read the attorney general’s opinions because he used to be attorney general. And frankly, Democrats say come and take it.

CNN’s John Berman asked, “Come and take it. Do you think he could be successful taking your seats away?”

Leader Wu said, “No, it’s all bluster, sound and fury signifying nothing.”

White House Economic Adviser Kevin Hassett couldn’t offer any evidence that the Bureau of Statistics was involved in any nefarious actions with their jobs reports and admitted Trump just wants to put his own people in.

After the BLS issued the worst jobs report for years for July, Trump, in a fit of rage immediately fired Erika McEntarfer, the commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Making Trump’s economy look even worse, the Bureau revised their jobs report for the last two months showing Demented Donald added 258,000 fewer jobs than initially reported.

Earlier in the interview, Hassett tried to claim the BLS numbers were propaganda, which is absurd.

WELKER: So is the president prepared to fire anyone who reports data that he disagrees with?

HASSETT: No, absolutely not. The president wants his own people there, so that when we see the numbers, they’re more transparent and more reliable.

In a stunning display of the Democratic Party’s ongoing effort to blur the line between citizenship and lawbreaking, Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) claimed that illegal immigrants—who by definition broke federal law to enter or remain in the country—are merely “long-term residents of the United States who happen to be undocumented.” The remark highlights the Left’s continued push to downplay the rule of law in favor of feel-good rhetoric, redefining criminal entry into the country as nothing more than a paperwork issue.

During an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press, Padilla doubled down on his defense of illegal immigration, claiming his mission is to protect the millions of undocumented individuals living in the United States from what he called an “aggressive” and “cruel” approach to enforcement. Padilla criticized the Trump administration’s efforts to arrest, detain, and deport those who entered the country illegally, painting law enforcement and immigration officials as the villains, rather than acknowledging the legal consequences of breaking U.S. immigration laws.

Padilla is just one of many left-wing voices in Congress that continue to weaken immigration enforcement, reward illegal entry with taxpayer-funded benefits, and vilify anyone who dares to demand secure borders. By rebranding illegal immigrants as “undocumented residents,” Padilla and his fellow Democrat colleagues are attempting to erase the distinction between those who respect the nation’s laws and those who break them.

The shock and outrage over President Donald Trump firing the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) commissioner because of weak jobs numbers seems increasingly bipartisan.

Several Republican senators told NBC News that they did not support Trump’s firing of Erika McEntarfer if it was, in fact, motivated by his displeasure over the poor jobs numbers released on Friday. (All indications are that it was.) Democrats, meanwhile, said Trump’s latest move was the behavior of an authoritarian.

On Friday, Trump quickly claimed without any evidence that the revised jobs numbers, which showed weaker job growth in May and June than previously projected, had been “manipulated.” But experts on the work of the BLS, which is part of the Department of Labor, pushed back, saying Trump’s claim is not plausible.

Former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, who served in the Clinton administration, said on ABC’s This Week that Trump’s firing “is way beyond anything that Richard Nixon ever did.” Summers explained: “These numbers are put together by teams of literally hundreds of people following detailed procedures that are in manuals. There’s no conceivable way that the head of the BLS could have manipulated this number.”

The Trump administration declined to provide a guest to ABC News after the leader of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) was fired over a poor jobs report.

On Sunday, This Week host George Stephanopoulos revealed that ABC had contacted the White House after President Donald Trump fired BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer.

“After the president fired the head of the BLS on Friday, we invited the White House to provide a guest to respond,” the host explained. “They declined.”

Instead, Stephanopoulos spoke to former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers about the BLS shakeup.

“I mean, this is way beyond anything that Richard Nixon ever did,” Summers remarked. “I’m surprised that other officials have not responded by resigning themselves, as took place when Richard Nixon fired people lawlessly. This is a preposterous charge.”

“These numbers are put together by teams of literally hundreds of people following detailed procedures that are in manuals,” he continued. “There’s no conceivable way that the head of the BLS could have manipulated this number.”

The Trump administration has launched a concerted drive to undermine American elections. These moves are unprecedented and in some cases illegal. They began with the pardon of the January 6 defendants who sought to overturn the 2020 results. They include affirmative attacks on democratic institutions, the repeal and withdrawal of voter protections, and symbolic or demonstrative moves. A clear pattern suggests a growing effort. As the 2026 midterms approach, that effort will likely gather momentum.

This resource offers the first chronicle of the Trump administration’s actions this year to undermine election integrity. They include:

  • attempting to rewrite election rules to burden voters and usurp control of election systems;
  • targeting or threatening to target election officials and others who keep elections free and fair;
  • supporting people who undermine election administration; and
  • retreating from the federal government’s role of protecting voters and the election process.

Many Democrats see their political party as “weak” or “ineffective,” according to a poll that finds considerable pessimism within Democratic ranks. Republicans are more complimentary of their party, although a small but significant share describe the GOP as “greedy” or say it is generally “bad.”

The poll conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research in July reveals warning signs for both major U.S. parties as the political focus shifts to elections in New Jersey and Virginia this fall and the midterm contests next year.

Respondents were asked to share the first word or phrase that came to mind when they thought of the Republican and Democratic parties. Answers were then sorted into broad categories, including negative and positive attributes. Overall, U.S. adults held a dim view of both parties, with about 4 in 10 using negative attributes, including words such as “dishonest” or “stupid.”

But nearly nine months after Republican Donald Trump won a second presidential term, Democrats appear to be harboring more resentment about the state of their party than do Republicans. Democrats were likelier to describe their own party negatively than Republicans. Republicans were about twice as likely to describe their own party positively.

During an interview on Fox News Sunday, host Shannon Bream asked Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) whether a special counsel was warranted following Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s release of documents alleging that former President Barack Obama led the effort to weaponize U.S. intelligence agencies against Donald Trump in 2016.

“Well, you know, the allegations and the conspiracy theories by Tulsi Gabbard would be sad if they weren’t so dangerous,” Crow replied. “She has turned herself into basically a weapon of mass distraction, is what I’ve been calling it, because it’s very clear what’s happening here. She’s trying to curry favor and get back into favor with Donald Trump, and has concocted these theories to do so.”

He added, “But let’s be really clear here that the Russian investigation and allegations of Russian interference into the election, have been the most examined and reexamined finding in the intelligence community history. There have been four investigations, including a bipartisan Senate investigation led under the first Trump administration and led in part by Marco Rubio. That was very, very clear on these findings.”

As New York City grapples with the aftermath of a deadly mass shooting that claimed the lives of four people, including an NYPD officer, Zohran Mamdani, the radical Democrat mayoral nominee, is facing renewed scrutiny over his controversial pledge to “disband” a key police unit.

The pledge, made during his mayoral campaign, has drawn sharp criticism, especially in light of the tragic events that unfolded in Midtown Manhattan on Monday.

Mamdani, currently in Uganda celebrating his wedding, has been vocal in the past about his support for defunding the police.

As a candidate for mayor, he has softened his anti-police rhetoric.

However, his previous pledge to dismantle the New York Police Department’s (NYPD) Strategic Response Group (SRG) remains a point of contention.

The SRG is a specialized unit within the NYPD responsible for responding to civil disorders, riots, and significant public safety events.

A Democratic member of Congress said the quiet part out loud over the weekend, admitting that prominent party officials knew the Trump-Russia collusion allegation was a hoax but chose to pursue it anyway in order to hamstring Trump at the start of his first administration.

The offhand remark by Rep. Jason Crow (D-WI) on “Fox News Sunday” was flagged by conservative legal scholar Jonathan Turley, who called the admission “damning” in light of “falsehoods” being promulgated by U.S. Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and others.

“That is a particularly telling and frank[ly] damning statement since figures like Adam Schiff were out spreading the false collusion claims,” Turley wrote on X.

In a column, the George Washington University law professor described the Trump administration’s effort to tell “the story of the real Russian conspiracy: how high-ranking officials in the Obama Administration seeded this false claim with the help of an eager, unquestioning press corps.”

“Not surprisingly, the media (which spent years repeating the false Russian collusion claims) is doing a full-court press to kill the story. Yet, many of these key figures are retaining counsel in anticipation of the unfolding investigation. Many previously secured contracts with MSNBC or CNN, or book deals, where they doubled down on the false claims detailed in these new documents,” he wrote.

The Democrat doom loop is continuing to destroy the left-wing party with a new poll finding that most voters now feel that the Democrats are just too radical to earn support.

The I&I/TIPP Poll of 1,421 U.S. adults was taken at the end of June and asked, “Do you think the Democratic Party has become too radical in its views and policies?”

Apparently, the answer was yes.

Per Issues and Insights:

A strong plurality of 45% of all poll respondents said yes, while 36% said no and another 18% said they weren’t sure. The poll’s margin of error is +/-2.7 percentage points.

As would be expected, the question elicited predictable differences among Democrats, Republicans and independent and third-party voters.

Among Democrats, for instance, 64% answered “no,” while 22% said “yes.” Republicans were quite different, as befits the current political schism, with just 16% noes and 73% yesses. Independents were at a 40% plurality for yes, and 33% no, with a hefty 27% not sure.

But a key point to make with regard to the political breakdown is that more than one-in-five Democrats believe their party is too radical, sharply reducing the number of reliable votes for the party come election time.

In announcing last week that there has been an 830 percent increase in violence against federal immigration agents, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) placed the blame squarely on false media reports and unhinged claims by left-wing politicians.

They’re absolutely right.

All we’ve heard for months from Democrat members of Congress, governors, mayors, and other radical politicians are exaggerations, incitement, and flat-out lies about the federal effort to legally deport criminal aliens and all we’ve seen in response are daily riots, protests, and direct attacks against both Immigration Custom, and Enforcement (ICE) agents and Customs and Border Patrol (CPB) officers.

And the mainstream media has been only too happy to parrot that dangerous rhetoric while also largely ignoring their own role in bringing about harm to law enforcement officers.

Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) is not expected at the National Governors Association retreat this weekend as reports emerge suggesting cracks in the Democratic relationship with the organization.

Gov. Laura Kelly (D-KS) has not registered for the summit either, though the meeting of the bipartisan governors group will enjoy a “record number” of governors at the summer meeting in Colorado Springs.

The NGA reportedly will not get any more dues from Walz or Kelly over its reaction to President Donald Trump’s ventures into state matters. The Washington Examiner did not confirm the report but did confirm that the two governors had not registered for the summit.

Both have concluded that the “organization’s usefulness is now in doubt” because it allegedly did not respond sufficiently to incidents such as the pause on the disbursement of all federal funds in January, when Gov. Janet Mills (D-ME) argued with Trump over transgender athletes, and when the National Guard was deployed into California during the Los Angeles protests.

“When you are also paying dues with taxpayer dollars, it has got to be worth it, and they are going to have to demonstrate that,” a source told the Atlantic. “Right now, they are not doing that. There have been ongoing concerns about the NGA among the Democratic governors and staff, off and on, for years.”

Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Ken Martin has admitted that the Democrats have now hit “rock bottom” following President Donald Trump’s re-election victory in November.

The DNC leader says the Democratic Party has “work to do” but believes that Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” will provide the ammunition they need to make a comeback.

Martin’s comments came in the wake of the party’s struggles after the 2024 elections, when they lost control of the White House, Senate, and failed to win back the House majority.

In a candid interview with Fox News, Martin acknowledged that the Democrats had lost ground with key parts of their coalition, including voters who had historically been a part of the Democratic Party’s base.

However, he remained optimistic about the party’s future, claiming that “when you hit rock bottom, there’s only one direction to go, and that’s up.”

The DNC chair pointed to the growing anger among the party’s base, energizing them to push back against Trump’s sweeping second-term domestic agenda.

He noted that this anger isn’t just directed at the GOP but at Democratic lawmakers who many in the party feel haven’t been aggressive enough in countering the president.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is launching digital ads targeting a dozen Republican-held House districts, calling for the release of files related to financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

One ad features Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) calling the controversy a “serious issue” and saying that the highest volume of calls to her office have concerned the Epstein files, while another calls out the House GOP with the caption “House Republicans shut down Congress to bury the truth.”

A clip of President Trump standing next to Epstein plays in the background of the latter.

Both ads tell viewers to call their representatives and demand that the Epstein files are released.

Momentum had been building among Democrats and some Republicans for Congress to vote to force the Trump administration to release the documents related to the case. But House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) announced the body would start its summer recess a day early as Democrats sought to force votes in the Rules Committee to release the files, dividing Republicans.

Democrats have sought to use the lingering controversy as a way to go on offense against Trump and the Republican Party, accusing them of protecting pedophiles. The topic of the Epstein files has received significant national attention for a few weeks since the Justice Department memo stating the Epstein didn’t have a “client list,” as has been alleged, and that the department wouldn’t release additional documents to protect alleged victims.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) accused the media of being “either duped or complicit” on the interference of the 2016 election by Russians.

“I want the press to be honest. I want Pulitzer Prizes to be returned. They were either duped or complicit in pushing that false narrative that put America in political turmoil for years,” Johnson told NewsNation’s Blake Burman on “The Hill.”

“It’s continuing to go on, all based on a Hillary Clinton dirty trick, the Steele Dossier that those guys knew was a dirty trick, and yet they used that to gin up the Mueller investigation, impeachments, everything else,” he added. “Listen, this is, again election interference orders of magnitude worse than anything Russia or China ever, ever could hope to achieve,” he added.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard put out a report last week alleging that Obama administration officials manipulated intelligence linked to Russian interference in the 2016 election.

The best way to fight back against an imperial president who is determined to rewrite history through bullying threats and intimidation is not to yield.

Former CIA Director John Brennan is one of four former intelligence officials who have been referred to the DOJ for prosecution because they wrote reports and signed letters about Russia interfering in the 2016 election to help Donald Trump.

On MSNBC’s Deadline: White House, Brennan defended the intelligence:

Anybody who looks at the intelligence assessment and the work that was done will see that it was very carefully worded, meticulously done, and it stands up to scrutiny and to the test of time. As you pointed out, there have been numerous reviews about it, and it didn’t say any of the things that tools Gabbard alleges it said or didn’t say.

And I, I really do encourage people to read it because it was very clear in terms of what it said that the Russians were using at President Putin’s direction influenced operations to try to denigrate Hillary Clinton, try to increase the prospects for Donald Trump’s selection, and also just to undermine the integrity of our election system.

And again, those were the primary judgements. Again, they are ones that certainly I and others who were involved continue to stand behind.

Now that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement budget is larger than those for most of the world’s militaries, they’ve got plenty of money sloshing around to hire 10,000 new agents, which will surely allow them to ratchet up arrests of harmless day laborers at Home Depot. But how to find those 10,000 new hires? ICE seems to be starting by begging retirees to come back.

A recruitment page on ICE’s website features the obligatory scowling Uncle Sam. Retired ICE agents who return are eligible for up to $50,000 in bonuses and can still receive their basic federal retirement annuity. In other words, for these rehires, taxpayers will be paying:

  1. Their base salary, which starts at $105,000 for ICE criminal investigators and nearly $89,000 for deportation officers.
  2. Federal health care benefits.
  3. Base federal retirement annuity.
  4. A stratospheric hiring bonus of up to $50,000.

That may seem like a steep price, but hey, how else to ensure that migrant children are left alone when their mothers are deported, or that immigrants are mistakenly deported? How else to ensure that ICE has enough agents to arrest migrants at courthouses after federal immigration judges, in collusion with government attorneys, drop immigration cases so that the migrant can be immediately arrested when they leave the courtroom?

Donald Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan cried to the media that a migrant doesn’t have to be a criminal to be arrested, detained and deported now because their immigration status decides if they are a criminal. This, despite the fact that being undocumented is not a crime; it’s a civil violation.

During the run up to the 2024 election, Donald Trump and JD Vance continually proclaimed that every migrant crossing the border were either serial killers, cannibals, murderers, or rapists.

These were the migrants he was going to deport.

Since racist Stephen Miller is in control of ICE now (basically the whole country really), Trump’s immigration policies require 80-year-old migrants, children playing on soccer fields, day workers, farm workers, and brown people in general to be scooped up by unmarked cars and balaclava-wearing masked men so they can be shipped off to alligator prisons.

This is Trump’s America.

Here is Tom “General Zod” Homan ranting during a presser earlier today.

ZOD: Then I read another story about how most people in ICE detention aren’t criminals. Now the story is, how bad of a criminal they have to be.

I saw a story the other day, only 1% of the illegal aliens removed were murderers.

Are you kidding me? Being in the country illegally is not illegal anymore, you got committed murder to be deported?

If you look at ICE detention, I’ll say it again, look at detention, who’s in detention, I looked at the numbers this morning, a majority are criminals, have criminal history.

Who are the rest? Border cases, who a judge ordered removed. The others are expedited removal, by federal statute, demands they be detained. So with the media out there, let’s try telling the truth about the men and women of ICE and the men and women of the Border Patrol.

During a press conference on Monday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem took time away from failing Texans recovering from deadly floods to throw New York City Mayor Eric Adams under the bus.

“I know you guys have got a leadership election in this country, or in this city that’s going to be happening soon,” Noem told reporters. “Boy, start looking at the candidates today and see which one is going to start making the city safer. Because you’ve got a mayor today that could have done better and could have done better—and maybe he’d have more support today if he had, if he’d have put his people first.

So much for the former Democrat’s attempts to cozy up to President Donald Trump during a very public corruption case. As Noem’s comments make clear, Trump’s Cabinet members have little interest in loyalty unless it serves their personal political needs. There is no amount of genuflecting that will shield you from being sold down the river in order to deflect blame.

Adams’ increasingly desperate bid to remain both in power and out of legal jeopardy has culminated in him leaving the Democratic Party after realizing he had little chance of securing its mayoral nomination. If Adams’ plan was to court moderate Republican voters in the upcoming race against popular progressive mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, Trump’s team of terrorists aren’t going to be much help.

CNN is helping fuel unhinged leftist violence directed at ICE by publishing stories that falsely claim the Illegals being sent to “Alligator Alcatraz” have “No Criminal Charges.” A basic fact check would have let them know they were spreading misinformation, but no fact check was conducted as it didn’t fit into their violence-inciting narrative.

CNN Correspondent and anti-American activist Rafael Romo told thousands of Americans this violence inciting lie, “Hundreds of immigrants with no criminal charges in the United States are being held at Alligator Alcatraz, according to an investigation by the Miami Herald and the Tampa Bay Times, which obtained records about the migrants being held there. According to the report, Brianna, there are more than 250 people who are listed as having only immigration violations but no criminal convictions who are being held together with those accused and convicted of crimes.”

The anti-American activist is leaving out the fact that these illegals are there because of violent crimes committed in their home countries, including rape and murder. This was not an accidental omission; it was a deliberate manipulation of the truth to incite violence against ICE agents. Thanks to the Pam Bondi effect, DNC-CCP media is now free to openly incite violence against federal agents.

Alligator Alcatraz, the new immigration detention center that opened in the Florida Everglades, had the left-wing media twisting the purpose of the facility. On Monday, CNN News Central featured Correspondent Rafael Romo, who made the false claim that “hundreds of immigrants with no criminal charges in the United States are being held at Alligator Alcatraz.” What Romo was trying to mischaracterize to the CNN audience was the fact they had criminal charges filed in other countries.

On July 3rd, Alligator Alcatraz officially opened with the first group of detainees. Of course, the immigration detention center has received backlash from the liberal media, but Romo got the facts wrong when he claimed:

Hundreds of immigrants with no criminal charges in the United States are being held at Alligator Alcatraz, according to an investigation by the Miami Herald and the Tampa Bay Times, which obtained records about the migrants being held there. According to the report, Brianna, there are more than 250 people who are listed as having only immigration violations but no criminal convictions who are being held together with those accused and convicted of crimes.

The key words Romo used were “no criminal charges in the United States.” Romo failed to report that many of the illegal immigrants have criminal charges in their origin countries, not just in the United States.

An edited version of the Miami Herald article, referenced by Romo, had a statement made by the Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin that opposed their false claims:

Many of the individuals that are counted as ‘non-criminals’ are actually terrorists, human rights abusers, gangsters are more; they just don’t have a rap sheet in the U.S. Further, every single one of these individuals committed a crime when they came into this country illegally. It is not an accurate description to say they are ‘non-criminals.’

It’s worth noting that Romo tried to use President Trump’s words against him when he visited the facility, but there was an obvious truth to his statement: He said that it would very soon house some of the most menacing migrants. He said, some of the most vicious people on the planet.

Yes, Rafael, “some of the most vicious people on the planet” have origin countries that are on Earth, and they just happen to be in the United States illegally.

Romo also added a quote from Democratic Representative Darren Soto about how the architecture of the detention center could have “serious concerns” of flooding during hurricane season.

What separates this facility from prisons located along both sides of the coast in Florida?

CNN’s efforts to sympathize with illegal immigrations while opposing the Trump administration’s policies prove that they didn’t have the safety of the American people in mind. The people who were sent to Alligator Alcatraz were criminals, whether they crossed the border illegally or committed crimes in their home countries.

BRIANNA KEILAR: Significant new details about the controversial new immigration detention center in the Florida Everglades. According to reporting from the Miami Herald and the Tampa Bay Times, more than 700 migrants are either currently detained at or scheduled to be sent to the facility, nicknamed by Trump: Alligator Alcatraz. And many of them do not have criminal records. They’re listed as having only immigration violations. CNN’s Rafael Romo is with us now. Rafael, what are you learning about this?

RAFAEL ROMO: Well, Brianna, you may remember at the beginning of the month when President Donald Trump toured the migrant detention facility in the Florida Everglades. He said that it would very soon house some of the most menacing migrants. He said, some of the most vicious people on the planet. But a new report published Sunday suggests that may not be the case.

The report says, only a third of the detainees have criminal convictions, with charges that range from attempted murder to illegal reentry into the United States, as well as traffic violations. The information comes from a list of more than 700 migrants who are either already being held at the tent facility or are scheduled to be transferred there.

Several elected officials and members of Congress had access to the migrant detention center on Saturday for the first time since it opened earlier this month. This is what two of them had to say about the facility.

REP. DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ (D-FL): They should not put humans in cages in the middle of swampland in the Everglades. It’s outrageous. It’s inhumane. It’s unlawful.

REP. MAXWELL FROST (D-FL): What is the hurricane plan? What is the plan with flooding? We want to see the medical unit. We want to see what the segregation unit looks like. We want to see where the law library is. We want to see all this and make sure that it’s up to the standards of what a federal facility is.

ROMO: And Brianna, Wasserman Schultz also said that migrants are packed into what she described as cages with 32 people inside each holding unit and only three toilets available. In an interview with NBC on Sunday, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem dismissed the claims, saying ICE detention centers are generally better than most county jails or federal prisons across the United States.

SEC. KRISTI NOEM: Well, our detention centers at the federal level are held to a higher standard than most local or state centers, and even federal prisons. The standards are extremely high.

ROMO: One final point, Brianna. This is rather important. After touring the detention center Saturday, Representative Darren Soto, a Democrat, said lawmakers also witnessed evidence of flooding, highlighting serious concerns of what could happen to detainees if there’s severe weather. During what forecasters say may be a very busy hurricane season. Brianna.

KEILAR: Rafael Romo, thank you so much for that.
