Saudi Arabia Establishes New Defense Alliance For Crucial Sea Lane– trendingpoliticsnews.com

EXCERPT:
Saudi Arabia has announced the establishment of the Multinational Maritime Defense Alliance, a framework for collective maritime defense cooperation focused on the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden. The announcement follows years of insecurity in the vital sea lane due to threats from the Iran-backed Houthi militant group.
The announcement followed a meeting hosted in Riyadh by the Saudi Ministry of Defense, attended by chiefs of staff and representatives from 43 countries along with a European Union delegation. Of the 51 countries and organizations invited, these participants discussed the proposed alliance’s draft charter, organizational structure, command-and-control arrangements, operational mechanisms, and next steps.
As part of the agreement, 14 countries issued a joint declaration supporting the alliance as founding members. This includes Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, Yemen, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Sudan, Djibouti, and Somalia. The United Arab Emirates and Oman were notably not among those listed in the initial joint statement.

Trump might pause Blanche nomination as GOP senators object to IRS settlement– www.latimes.com

EXCERPT:
Washington — The high-stakes nomination of Todd Blanche to be attorney general has turned into a clash of wills between President Trump and two Senate Republicans whose political careers he claims credit for ending.
After a vote on Blanche’s nomination was delayed over concerns raised by two lame-duck Republican senators, the president said Thursday he might put Blanche’s nomination on hold rather than meet their demands.
Sens. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) have indicated that they will vote to support advancing Blanche’s nomination only if the Justice Department provides written assurance that it has completely abandoned a controversial $1.8-billion “anti-weaponization” fund created as part of a settlement between Trump and the Internal Revenue Service and will limit the scope of tax audit immunity granted to Trump, his sons and a business.
Those provisions were part of a proposed settlement of a $10-billion lawsuit Trump filed against the IRS, which is part of his administration.
“The opposition to such a high-ranking executive branch nomination from within Republican ranks is quite unprecedented,” said Phil Brest, who was a top Democratic staffer for the Senate Judiciary Committee during the nominations of Jeff Sessions, Bill Barr and Merrick Garland, who each served as attorney general.

Spain will deploy its military to restore order at its border with Morocco in Ceuta after thousands of migrants streamed into the tiny Spanish territory, with at least nine dying in the attempt.
The announcement came after local authorities in Ceuta had asked the central government in Madrid for reinforcements to manage a border crisis that boiled over Thursday with large crowds of people breaching the border fence.
Spain’s government said it would send the Armed Forces to help the Civil Guard “maintain security in the city of Ceuta.” It also announced that Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez would join Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska in a visit to Ceuta on Friday.
“The situation is absolute chaos,” Rachid Sbihi, head of the association that represents Spain’s Civil Guard officers who police the border in Ceuta, told The Associated Press. “It’s not possible to give precise numbers, but there are thousands of migrants crossing,” he said, adding that the border had “totally collapsed.”
Achraf Maimouni, a member of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights in northern Morocco, described the situation as “exceptional.”
“The Tarajal border was opened under unusual circumstances this morning and people crossed,” he said.

China Hits U.S., Europe With New Rare Earths Export Controls– legalinsurrection.com
News Source
EXCERPT:
Early this year, the Trump administration unveiled a new minerals stockpile initiative called “Project Vault,” which prioritizes the development of mines and processing operations for more than 50 minerals deemed critical.
This move comes on top of Trump’s pursuit of new alliances to challenge China’s control over these essential resources. Additionally, the administration has been expediting mine openings, supporting new smelting operations, and exploring deep-sea options for these resources.
These developments are likely not making Chinese officials happy. Subsequently, it should not come as a surprise that China has now imposed new export controls on rare earths bound for this country.
China added MP Materials (MP.N) and USA Rare Earth (USAR.O) as well as eight other U.S. entities it said are linked to the U.S. military to its export control list in retaliation for Washington placing several Chinese companies under restrictions this month.
Aveox, a motor manufacturer for mission-critical applications, was also among those placed on the list, which halts Chinese dual-use exports to the companies.
Pentagon-backed MP Materials, which operates the only active rare earth mine in the U.S., and USA Rare Earth are both involved in the mine-to-magnet supply chain.
USA Rare Earth said it did not have any comment on the matter. MP Materials and Aveox were not available for comment outside of business hours.

The Senate Judiciary Committee has postponed its scheduled Thursday vote on the nomination of Todd Blanche to serve as attorney general after Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and John Cornyn (R-TX) indicated that they would vote against advancing the nomination out of committee.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) announced the decision late Wednesday night after a wild day of back-and-forth between the committee and the two dissenting senators.
“Chairman Grassley works to set President Trump’s nominees up for success in committee, not failure. Senators Cornyn and Tillis want written assurances from the Department of Justice regarding the Trump-IRS settlement. Tomorrow’s markup is postponed as work continues to secure sufficient support in committee to favorably report Attorney General-nominee Todd Blanche, who is highly qualified for the job,” a spokesman for Grassley’s office said in a statement.
Both Tillis and Cornyn have for weeks raised concerns related to a settlement agreement between the Department of Justice and Trump stemming from a lawsuit Trump filed against the Internal Revenue Service.
As part of the settlement, the Justice Department established a $1.776 billion “anti-weaponization” fund intended to compensate individuals who were subje

A Catholic bishop will celebrate Mass at a series of pro-LGBT parish gatherings in Rhode Island while the Diocese of Providence refuses to clarify whether attendees will be called to repentance or offered sacramental confession, in accordance with the Church’s moral teaching.
The Diocese of Providence is holding four parish gatherings for “LGBTQ+ individuals, families, and friends” across Rhode Island, where Bishop Bruce Lewandowski will celebrate the Masses and participate in “small group sharing” sessions for “listening humbly to the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals.”
According to the program published on the diocesan website, the pro-LGBT gatherings are divided into three parts. The first section is a “small group sharing,” in which Lewandowski and other collaborators will listen “humbly” not only to the so-called LGBT Catholics, but also their “families and friends.” The second section is the Holy Mass, celebrated by Lewandowski, and third, “a community dinner provided for all attendees.”
The announcement opens with a well-known quotation from Pope Francis: “Todos, Todos, Todos (Everyone, Everyone, Everyone). That is the Church, the Mother of all. There is room for everyone.”
The planned events have drawn criticism after the Lepanto Institute reported diocesan officials had declined to answer direct questions about how the events square with Church teaching on anthropology and morality.

The U.S. Army on Sunday revealed it has tested a new warfare system overseas designed to covertly scramble the navigation signals used by enemy precision weapons, making it harder for adversaries to accurately strike targets from long distances while avoiding detection.
The electronic system, dubbed “Hammer of the Gods,” was tested at sea off the U.S. West Coast for the first time in mid-July as part of the Project Convergence Capstone 6 (PC-C6) experiment.
While land-based versions have been demonstrated over the past two years, the exercise marked the official debut of the maritime variant, the Army said.
The portable signal disruptor can reportedly blind enemy to several precision-guided weapons such as long-range artillery, guided missiles and cruise missiles.
The Hammer of the Gods was tested overseas for the first time in mid-July. (U.S. Army)
The radio signals specifically jam positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) signals, including GPS data, that precision weapons rely on to navigate accurately.
Without reliable PNT data, weapon accuracy drops sharply, increasing the likelihood of delayed missions and missed targets.
The system also creates a resilient communications network that allows friendly forces to stay connected despite heavy electronic jamming.

Multiple sources told The Post Millennial Wednesday evening that Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson has asked Police Chief Shon Barnes to resign, ending his tenure just days after the deadly Bite of Seattle mass shooting intensified scrutiny of his leadership, his frequent travel, and his absence from the city during the tragedy.
Barnes was spotted leaving a vigil for the victims of the shooting in Seattle Center by Post Millennial staff before the event began and went to City Hall, where he was asked to resign
Fox 13 reported that Barnes began texting people Wednesday night about his dismissal. Wilson’s office has not replied to requests for comment.
The move comes after a tumultuous week for Barnes, who faced mounting criticism over both the police response to the shooting and his own whereabouts when it unfolded.
Three people were killed, and several others were wounded Sunday evening after gang members opened fire during the closing hours of the Bite of Seattle festival. Barnes was in Dallas attending a National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives conference when the shooting occurred.
Musk Revives Super PAC, Pledges Major Push to Boost GOP Turnout in Midterms › American Greatness– amgreatness.com

EXCERPT:
Elon Musk is reviving his political operation to help Republicans defend their congressional majorities in an election year that has grown increasingly competitive.
Musk is reactivating America PAC, the super PAC that spent more than $260 million helping elect President Donald Trump in 2024, according to people familiar with the plans. The group will focus on door-knocking, digital advertising and direct mail to turn out conservative voters, including many who typically skip midterm elections.
Musk’s representatives have not disclosed a specific dollar figure for the 2026 effort, but given his 2024 spending, which made him the largest individual political donor in a single election cycle in American history, Republican operatives expect a substantial commitment.
The renewed investment gives the GOP a formidable new asset heading into November. GOP super PACs and committees already hold more than a $300 million cash advantage over their Democratic counterparts, a figure that does not include the $400 million sitting in Trump’s MAGA Inc. super PAC.
James Blair, Trump’s senior political adviser, welcomed the return of Musk’s operation. “America PAC was an essential partner for our historic GOTV operation in 2024, and their return for 2026 is a huge boost for Republicans across the country,” Blair said. “We will again outsmart our opponents and ruthlessly execute our mission for the GOP between now and Election Day.”
America PAC knocked on more than 10 million doors across swing states during the 2024 campaign. By concentrating on turnout operations again this cycle, the group will allow other Republican organizations to direct more of their spending toward television advertising, according to people close to the plans. Musk’s political adviser, Chris Young, will lead the effort, which is expected to coordinate closely with the rest of the party’s political infrastructure.

An attack late Wednesday on a checkpoint in northern Pakistan left at least seven police officers and eight alleged “terrorists” dead, local media reported, just days after more than two dozen people were killed in a similar clash.
The Wednesday evening attack occurred in Hangu district, in Pakistan’s northern border province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Geo News reported, citing local District Police Officer Tariq Habib.
An additional 22 police personnel were injured in the attack, Habib said, with a clearance operation launched in the area.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
It comes just days after unidentified militants attacked another checkpoint in the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The province borders Afghanistan and has been gripped by a growing violent campaign by the Islamist Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group.
In Friday’s attack, militants rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a security check post, killing 15 people including soldiers, police and government personnel.

U.S. Senate unanimously opposes Ghislaine Maxwell pardon– boingboing.net

President Trump’s friendship with dead billionaire Jeffrey Epstein is still a matter of endless public discussion. And it’s rumored he plans to pardon convicted sex trafficker and Epstein “madam” Ghislaine Maxwell in return for “exonerating” him. Already moved to a cushier prison, Maxwell has reportedly worked on a “commutation application” to this end. Today the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution opposing such a pardon.
Introduced by Senator Jacky Rosen, a Democrat of Nevada, the resolution states that Maxwell “should not be granted a Presidential pardon or any form of clemency for her crimes with Jeffrey Epstein relating to the sexual exploitation and abuse of minors”.
Although Senate resolutions like these are non-binding and symbolic, Rosen’s office noted in a news release in February when she introduced the measure that the resolution was “designed to put the Senate on record opposing the prospect” of Donald Trump of granting a pardon or clemency to Maxwell.
Maxwell, the well-connected daughter of late media mogul Robert Maxwell, was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse minors. Epstein himself died in prison awaiting trial in 2019; he was briefly incarcerated after an earlier conviction for procuring a minor for prostitution, which did not cost him many of his famous friends.

A new poll is making the rounds in New York, and it is “shocking”:
Gov. Kathy Hochul leads her Republican opponent Bruce Blakeman by just 4 percentage points, according to a bombshell new poll. Just 47% of those surveyed said they’d back the Democratic incumbent, compared to 43% who supported the Nassau County executive, with 10% of registered voters undecided, the poll, conducted by a pro-Blakeman super PAC found.
Of course, since this is a pro-Blakeman super PAC poll, it is not being done by a neutral party. Which “means we should read the released polling as the candidate’s best-case scenario — although not an implausible one.” The super PAC is releasing this poll to show that Blakeman is competitive in the race and that GOP donors and voters should get excited about it and contribute/volunteer.
The super PAC needed to release this poll to counteract the public polling. The RCP average shows Democrat incumbent Gov. Hochul up 52.3 percent to 35 percent, which means she is already above the magic 50 percent plus 1 majority of the vote.
In a prior column on the governor’s race, I focused on Bruce Blakeman’s inability to raise the money he needed to be competitive. He has since improved his fundraising – granted, after some campaign snafus – bringing in about $11.4 million in total. But he is still far behind the Hochul team – she is sitting on $21 million on hand, and the New York state Democrat Party has an additional $22 million. This is more than four times the amount Blakeman and the state Republican Party have on hand.

Ex-US Official Dr Anthony Fauci Declines To Answer Questions Over 100 Times In Covid Hearing– www.ndtv.com

EXCERPT:
Dr. Anthony Fauci on Wednesday repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment and declined to answer dozens of questions from senators in a Republican-led committee hearing about his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision, at least for now, shielded Fauci from answering questions that could expose him to accusations of lying under oath. Though he received a pardon in early 2025 from Democratic President Joe Biden, some Republicans pursuing a yearslong campaign for his arrest had suggested he could still face charges for any perjury committed during Wednesday’s hearing.
The scientist, who helped lead the nation’s COVID-19 response, was subpoenaed to testify under oath by Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, who has long had an antagonistic relationship with Fauci.
In response to angry, sometimes mocking questions from Republican senators, Fauci declined to answer more than 100 times, injecting new drama into partisan divides that have festered for years about the origins and handling of the pandemic. Fauci himself has become a polarizing figure, even receiving death threats that prompted him to seek security.
In his opening statement, Fauci said Paul has an “obvious obsession with calling for my prosecution.”
“The only conclusion I can reach is that the sole reason he is calling me before this committee is to get me to say something, anything, that could vindicate his repeated public pledges that I end up, in his words, ‘behind bars,'” Fauci said, adding that while it pained him to do so, he was following his attorney’s advice by taking the Fifth.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said an object that crashed into a field in eastern Poland in the early hours of Thursday was probably a Russian missile.
The unidentified object caused a 10m-wide (33ft) crater a short distance from the village of Tarnawa Kolonia, about 100km (62 miles) from the border with Ukraine during a Russian attack on the city of Lviv.
“All the indications are that it was a Russian Kh-101 ballistic missile, but we want to be 100% certain about the type of missile and who launched it,” Tusk said during a specially convened meeting in nearby Lublin.
Ukraine’s acting Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said earlier on Thursday that a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile had “crossed into Poland as part of Russia’s massive strike against Ukraine, violating Nato airspace”.
Tusk said he was in contact with fellow European leaders before heading to the scene of Thursday’s incident.
There were no reports of casualties in Thursday’s incident, he said, but it was being treated as serious. There was no immediate threat as it had not landed in a built-up area, Tusk added: “We were prepared to shoot it down if had continued its flight.”

Senate Majority Leader John Thune also continues to clash with President Donald Trump, refusing to overturn the now four-month-long blockade of the SAVE Act in the upper chamber.

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group says it has fired ballistic missiles at a Saudi oil tanker, more than a week after imposing a naval blockade on Saudi vessels in the Red Sea.
In a post on X, Yahya Saree, the Houthi military spokesman, said the group had “carried out a military operation targeting the Saudi oil tanker (NCC GHAZAL) for violating the maritime navigation ban” that the group had imposed on Saudi vessels.
He added that the group had used several ballistic missiles and forced the vessel to retreat.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), a maritime security monitor, said a tanker reported an explosion while transiting the Red Sea, adding that the crew is safe and no environmental damage was reported.
The Houthis seized the capital Sanaa in 2014 and have fought the internationally recognised Yemeni government, which Saudi Arabia backs, for more than a decade.

Fauci Diary Entry Reveals He Suffered Common COVID Vax Injury Five Months After Getting Jab › American Greatness– amgreatness.com

Former NIAID Director Anthony Fauci suffered a pulmonary infarction in June 2021—five months after he received his first COVID shot, his newly released diary reveals.
A pulmonary infarction occurs when part of the lung tissue dies because blood flow through the pulmonary arteries is blocked, usually by a blood clot originating from a deep vein thrombosis, that travels to the lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism.
This information was made public for the first time through the release of Fauci’s private diary entries.
Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rand Paul (R-Ky.) released Fauci’s private diary entries over the weekend, allowing the public to scrutinize his day-to-day activities during the early days of the COVID-19 crisis. The bombshell diary entries reveal his arrogance, duplicity and preoccupation with fame and adoration as infections rose.
During an appearance on Fox New’s “Ingraham Angle” Monday night, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. commented on the new revelation about Fauci’s June 2021 medical emergency.
“[Fauci] got vaccinated at a very, very public press conference in January of 2020 and then five months later…he had a pulmonary infarction—which is one of the adverse events NIH, CDC and FDA said are expected from the vaccine. He never told anybody,” Kennedy told host Laura Ingraham. “He got treated for it privately by the best doctors in America at the same time he was telling everybody that that was not an adverse event,” the HHS Secretary added.
