Odd, considering that while this meeting was going on, potential future Speaker of the House Temu Obama didn’t have the grapefruits to say the words himself.
The “Abolish ICE” plank is just a proposed resolution. The actual democrat platform won’t be passed until the presidential convention in 2028. There is a chance that democrats, for a change, nominate someone who is open-minded and tolerant toward a single opposing viewpoint. Maybe that viewpoint is admitting ICE enforcing current immigration law is a good thing. Monkeys could also fly out of James Talarico’s butt. You always have to allow that less that 1% chance.
I just wanted to make a point to the “both sides are the same” sect of the right-wing internets. One side has not deported everyone who needs to be deported, but is doing more than anyone has before them, and is doing the best they can with all the forces they have working against them.
The other side is the democrat party, which values illegal immigrants more than they do you.

For years, Americans have been told that concerns about noncitizens voting are a myth, a right-wing talking point unworthy of serious attention. California’s own secretary of state and attorney general have proven otherwise, however, not by admitting the state has no idea whether, or how often, it’s even happening, but by indicating the state isn’t bothering to track it.
A few weeks ago, the ACLJ submitted two California Public Records Act (CPRA) requests — one to the California secretary of state and one to Attorney General Rob Bonta’s office — seeking records on how the state maintains the integrity of its voter rolls. The Attorney General’s Office took an extension, ultimately responding on Aug. 10.
The Secretary of State’s Office responded first, but refused to provide any records responsive to our request. According to its answer, the statewide voter registration system simply “does not contain” a specific cancellation reason for non-citizenship. In other words, the state cannot tell us how many noncitizens have ever been removed from its voter rolls — because it doesn’t keep that information at all.
Below is a summary of our records requests to the secretary of state, and how California responded to each: First, we asked for the number of voter registrations that were canceled because the registrant didn’t meet citizenship requirements. California said its system “does not contain a voter status reason for cancellation due to non-citizenship.”

There are plenty of successes since President Trump returned to office last year that Republican candidates can campaign on in this important election year. I’ve been in favor of the GOP leaning into a strategy that focuses heavily on law and order. It’s pretty easy to link the Democrats to various and sundry criminal types. The open borders lunacy, for example, literally gets people killed, and the Dems are rather unapologetic about it.
Having a real president in office has seen a return of consequences for the bad guys. Law enforcement agencies were demonized and attacked all through the Biden years. The “Defund the Police” lefties had a lot of success, which led to predictably awful results. President Trump has empowered federal law enforcement, while also being an encouraging ally for law enforcement personnel at all levels.
On Friday, the FBI released its “2025 Reported Crimes in the Nation” statistics, and it told a pretty interesting story, but the most important headline is this one: “Data reported to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program shows 2024 to 2025 marked the largest year-to-year decline in violent crime rates since FBI estimations began in 1936.”
The biggest decline in violent crimes in 90 years? That’s huge.
The anti-American Communist running for Wisconsin Senate, Francesca Hong, lost her primary election to progressive David Crowley. Going into the polls, Hong was alleged to have a significant double-digit lead over Crowley. She was given a near-certain chance at winning.
Crowley narrowly beat her, and that only after a suspicious breakdown in the election process occurred. Five of the Eight USB Drives that had election information were handed in without any data. The data was then later allegedly retrieved.

In a now-deleted podcast in April 2023, Abdul El-Sayed claimed that the school shooting wasn’t a “trans problem” but “a gun problem.”

The investigation was carried out during Tuesday’s Minnesota primary election, with O’Keefe disguising himself as a Muslim man while investigative journalist Cam Higby wore a burqa and posed as a Muslim woman.

Detroit Animal Care and Control’s (DACC) live-release rate was roughly 20% to 26% when El-Sayed inherited the operation in late 2015 but climbed to about 61% to 62% by late 2016 — an improvement his campaign points to in arguing that the raw number of animals euthanized during his tenure obscures a turnaround from the dire conditions and euthanasia rates he inherited. The Daily Mail reported that records covering the period surrounding El-Sayed’s tenure showed 4,680 dogs and cats were euthanized, with 1,056 dogs and 29 cats getting euthanized in the first full calendar year DACC was under El-Sayed’s Health Department.

The poll found 47% of respondents support pro-life Paxton while 46% support pro-abortion Talarico. Five percent remain undecided and 2% support someone else.
The survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted August 9-10 and has a credibility interval of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
“The race for U.S. Senate in Texas is sharply divided by age: voters under 50 favor Talarico by 15 points, 53% to 38%, while those over 50 break for Paxton by 11 points, 53% to 42%,” said Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling.

Paxton’s stronger showing among voters over 50 underscores continued support for the Republican in a state where traditional pro-life values and the protection of life remain central concerns for many older Texans.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has formally backed a resolution calling for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Newsweek reports that DNC members approved the measure Saturday during the party’s summer meeting in Austin, Texas, calling on congressional Democrats to pass legislation eliminating ICE and winding down the federal immigration detention system.
The resolution also calls for withholding Department of Homeland Security funding unless the administration ends a series of enforcement practices, including workplace raids, large-scale roundups and arrests at courthouses and ICE check-ins.
It additionally demands the closure of immigration detention facilities, the termination of private detention contracts and the release of most immigration detainees while their cases proceed.
The vote makes abolishing ICE a position formally endorsed by the DNC, although it does not amend the Democratic Party’s official national platform.
