The Portland Police Bureau has a problem with effective policing and the only way they think they can solve it is by lying. The Post Millennial staff reporter Katie Daviscourt has been repeatedly assaulted and threatened. She was assaulted on Sept. 30  for reporting on Antifa and protest activity outside the ICE facility in Portland, Ore. since June. Yet in their documentation of the violence, Sgt. Andrew Braun claimed that Daviscourt was a “counter-protester,” suggesting she was responsible for the violence committed against her. This is defamatory, false and is an unacceptable attack on the professionalism of one of our reporters.

Daviscourt has been diligently reporting on the protest and riot activity for months, recording her work both in The Post Millennial and on X for all the world to see while local legacy media stayed away for safety reasons. On Sept. 30, the world saw another report from Daviscourt, but this one ended with a concussion and an eye hemorrhage. She was reporting outside the facility when a woman swung a flagpole at her, bashing her in the face.

The woman was then whisked away to an Antifa safe house, but Daviscourt followed, bringing a Portland police officer with her. That officer caught up with the assailant, who balked at being questioned at all. The masked suspect claimed to be under age, and the officer simply let her go. Daviscourt followed, at her own peril.

We have reached a very dangerous level of political hackery. Dangerous, vitriolic rhetoric has been used by local political operatives in Illinois, and it has now taken a turn for the worse.

Bill Melugin and other sources are reporting that on October 4th, a CPD “Chief of Patrol” instructed his police officers not to respond when ICE/Border Patrol asked for help when they were under attack following a shooting. This type of order virtually never comes from the local precinct cops; that order comes from local politicians, either the mayor or possibly the governor would have given such an order.

The Chief of Patrol who ordered the standdown is Jon Hein. It happened on Saturday.

One of the highest-ranking officers in the Chicago Police Department barred city cops from responding to calls for help from federal agents who reported being surrounded by a large crowd in Brighton Park on Saturday, according to CPD radio transmissions.

CPD Chief of Patrol Jon Hein ordered city officers to leave the area as tensions escalated following the shooting of a woman by Border Patrol agents, supervisors said in recorded radio traffic.

The City University of New York’s (CUNY) Graduate Center has an English course called “Global Antifa” that is “oriented towards militant co-research” developing “research projects that contribute to the work of global movements fighting fascism.”

Militant research, according to a paper from Newcastle University, “prioritises political struggle over the academic pursuit of knowledge” where the “researcher must become an active participant in a political movement, while still doing research – it essentially means devoting lots of time to working as an activist or as an organiser.”

In other words, that method would have students be active members of Antifa, not just embedding with them, but potentially participating in violence and destruction with them. It “seeks different ways to generate knowledge, with a particular focus on processes and methods, and it offers a blurring of the boundaries between activism/organising and research, between researcher and researched, and between theory and practice.”

According to the course syllabus, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request submitted by Defending Education, the class “surveys and draws on these antifascist traditions, linking them to a deep engagement with racial justice, anti-imperialist movements, intersectional feminism, and an analysis of the changing character and contradictions of capitalism” and “begins from the premise that racialized and colonized peoples have been at the forefront of theorizing, challenging, and dismantling fascism, white supremacy, and other modes of authoritarian rule over the last century.”
