The Republican National Committee (RNC) is suing several states over the late counting of mail-in ballots that is still ongoing weeks after Election Day.

The lawsuit includes California, which has not certified all its races nearly four weeks after the election, Fox News reported.

The Golden State is counting its ballots at a snail’s pace in part because of the choice of many citizens to vote by mail.

The state said these ballots must be verified individually, explaining the long delay.

However, RNC Chairman Michael Whatley believes this is “absurd” as pivotal races remain uncalled.

PA Dems are still counting alleged votes in an effort to protect Bob Casey (D-PA) from losing his seat to Dave McCormick (R-PA). Now, the drawn-out process is moving to the “recount phase.”

The race for one of Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate seats still isn’t over. An automatic recount started Wednesday and state law requires all counties to complete their recount by Nov. 26.

Officials in Philadelphia say it could take up to four days to tabulate all the ballots cast in the state’s largest city. Election staffers in Philadelphia got back to work Wednesday in a warehouse in Northeast Philly counting ballots for the second time.

According to unofficial results, Republican Dave McCormick leads incumbent Democrat Bob Casey by roughly 16,000 votes.

“That is a staggeringly close number considering that 36,604 Philadelphians chose to undervote the race,” said Philadelphia Commissioner Lisa M Deeley (D), meaning they voted for President but skipped over the Senate race.

“This should serve as a wake-up call for all voters in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. These down-ballot races, they matter,” she added.

During a recount, state law requires that ballots get counted on a different machine than was used the first time as a way to verify accuracy.

City Commissioner Seth Bluestein (R) said: “We want to make sure the ballots are being scanned on different types of technology so we can be confident in the results.”

The state will publish the final results of the recount the day before Thanksgiving. Casey has not conceded but McCormick has already declared victory in this race.

This is the fourth time the state has conducted a recount in an election since 2004. None of those times did the recount change the outcome.

Dozens of Bucks County Republicans gathered outside the county administration building Wednesday morning to condemn Democratic commissioners’ vote to count undated or misdated mail ballots, a move that the state Supreme Court struck down.

PA Governor Josh Shapiro (D) has come out to urge PA County PA Election Boards to stop their effort to illegally count unregistered ballots after the PA SCOTUS ordered them to stop. Shapiro said “Any insinuation that our laws can be ignored or do not matter is irresponsible and does damage to faith in our electoral process. The rule of law matters in Pennsylvania. … It is critical for counties in both parties to respect it with both their rhetoric and their actions.”

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is siding with the state’s high court after the justices ruled that faulty mail-in ballots can’t be counted amid a contentious recount, delivering a victory to Republican Party officials.

The state Supreme Court reaffirmed its prior decision in a 4–3 ruling Monday that counties cannot count incorrectly dated or undated ballots. The decision singled out the Boards of Elections in Bucks County, Montgomery County, and Philadelphia County, whom they said “SHALL COMPLY with the prior rulings of this Court in which we have clarified” for mail-in and absentee ballots in their Nov. 1 ruling.

“Any insinuation that our laws can be ignored or do not matter is irresponsible and does damage to faith in our electoral process,” said Shapiro, a Democrat. “The rule of law matters in Pennsylvania. … It is critical for counties in both parties to respect it with both their rhetoric and their actions.”

As governor, Shapiro said he would “continue working to protect our democracy and the votes of all eligible Pennsylvanians.”

The high court initially ruled on Nov. 1 that mail-in ballots without formally required signatures or dates should not be counted. Democratic-led election boards, however — including in Philadelphia, Bucks County, Montgomery County, and Centre County — balked at the ruling and voted to include such ballots in the recount.

“People violate laws any time they want,” Democratic Bucks County commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia said last week, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. “So, for me, if I violate this law it’s because I want a court to pay attention. There’s nothing more important than counting votes.”

Monday’s ruling came amid a slew of lawsuits filed by Republican Party officials in the midst of an aggressive Senate recount effort following the narrow victory of GOP candidate David McCormick over three-term Democrat Sen. Bob Casey.

McCormick had defeated Casey by some 17,000 ballots in the state, or within the 0.5% margin of error. The narrow victory allowed Casey to qualify for an automatic recount under Pennsylvania law.

The Republican National Committee criticized Shapiro for not speaking up sooner in defense of the court’s actions.

“Heartening to see. Once Democrats came to the conclusion that even ignoring the Pennsylvania Supreme Court can’t scrape up enough ballots to win…,” RNC Chair Michael Whatley wrote on X. “Governor Shapiro suddenly discovers that he stands with the rule of law. Better late than never.”

Trump campaign official Chris LaCivita said Pennsylvania elections officials would face jail time for counting incorrect mail-in ballots.

“They will go to jail,” he wrote Sunday evening on X. “Count on it.”

No one should be shocked that Pennsylvania’s Statewide Uniform Registry of Electors (SURE) system went down for about 90 minutes Thursday morning. The computer system on which most voting activities in the state hinge is a mess, and the state has known this for years.

Speaking on “The Dom Giordano Show” on Philadelphia’s WPHT talk radio, Pennsylvania Secretary of State Al Schmidt described the SURE system as a voter registration database that county boards of elections interface with “all day long.”

When voters register, request a ballot, are sent a ballot, or vote, every move is marked in the Sure System. More than 9 million Pennsylvania residents, every person registered to vote, have data in the SURE System.

“We had an outage for about 90 minutes that prevented many counties from connecting to it earlier this morning, but has been back up for a while now,” Schmidt said. “It was like 9:45 to 11:15 this morning. Voters who applied to vote by mail, whether it’s in person or whatever else, could still do so. It didn’t prevent any of that.”

A fire was deliberately set at a Phoenix, Arizona, mailbox Thursday, damaging ballots in the box.

The fire in the U.S. Postal Service mailbox took place at about 1:20 a.m., according to NBC.

Dieter Bradford Klofkorn, 35, admitted to police he set the mailbox on fire because he “wanted to be arrested,” police said, according to KPHO-TV.

Klofkorn said his actions “were not politically motivated” and had no connection to the Nov. 5 elections.

Phoenix Fire Capt. Rob McDade said 20 ballots were damaged, as was other mail.

Klofkorn faces one count of arson of property.

On Thursday, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold (D-Colo.) revealed that her office had discovered over a dozen mail ballots that had been stolen and mailed in with fraudulent votes cast.

As Just The News reports, the state has been engaging in universal mail-in voting for years, sending ballots to every registered voter in the state; this practice was considered rare prior to the Chinese Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, after which it became more common in Democrat-controlled states.

Officials in Griswold’s office said that the fraudulent ballots were discovered through the signature verification process, where the signature of the voter on record does not match the signature on the ballot. At least three ballots were still counted even after being determined as fraudulent, meaning the three false votes cannot be changed.

Nevertheless, Griswold issued a statement falsely declaring that “Colorado’s elections are safe and secure.”
