Representative Hakeem Jeffries of New York has assumed Pelosi’s former role as House Democratic leader, while Senator Chuck Schumer, 74, continues as the party leader in that chamber.
While there are tensions between Jeffries, 55, and more liberal Democrats, he is expected to be the likely choice for speaker if the party does capture control of the House.
“Nancy Pelosi is an iconic, legendary, transformational figure who has done so many things over so many years to make life better for so many people,” Jeffries said at a press conference on Monday when asked about Pelosi’s 2026 intentions.
During her tenure, Pelosi gained a reputation as a defender of human rights and an early advocate of gay rights at a time when AIDS swept through the world and especially her hometown of San Francisco in the 1980s and beyond.
California overwhelmingly approved Prop 50 on Tuesday, which will potentially add five Democrat seats to the U.S. House in opposition to Republicans in Texas.
The Associated Press called the election in favor of Prop 50 shortly after the polls closed on Tuesday night.
“California voters approved new congressional district boundaries Tuesday, delivering a victory for Democrats in the state-by-state redistricting battle that will help determine which party wins control of the U.S. House in 2026,” the AP noted.
Republicans hold 219 seats in the U.S. House, while Democrats hold 213; those five seats in the 2026 midterm could make a huge difference in the balance of power. California Gov. Gavin Newsom strongly backed Prop 50, pledging it would be a bulwark against President Trump.
President Trump on Tuesday called California’s Proposition 50 a “giant scam” and revealed that the Golden State’s mail-in ballots are under “serious legal and criminal review.”
Governor Gavin Newsom and the Democrat-controlled state Legislature placed the Prop 50 constitutional amendment on California’s 2025 special election ballot in August.
It authorizes a temporary override of California’s independent redistricting process for congressional districts, allowing the Democrat-controlled Legislature to gerrymander new maps starting with the 2026 midterm elections.
“The Unconstitutional Redistricting Vote in California is a GIANT SCAM in that the entire process, in particular the Voting itself, is RIGGED,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “All ‘Mail-In’ Ballots, where the Republicans in that State are ‘Shut Out,’ is under very serious legal and criminal review,” he added. “STAY TUNED.”

Looks like Republicans have folded their tent in their effort to defeat a Democratic gerrymander of California’s House districts one week before the special election. Good news for Democrats, and Gov. Gavin Newsom, who’s been leading the fight for California redistricting. Via Politico:
As Democrats pummel the state with Yes on 50 advertising, the Republican side of the battle has gone quiet. Major GOP donors and party leaders have effectively vanished from the front lines.
The biggest funder of the campaign to defeat Proposition 50, Charles Munger Jr., has not contributed any significant cash to the cause in weeks, and his Protect Voters First committee cut its weekly spending from more than $4 million to less than $300. The other opposition committee, Stop Sacramento’s Power Grab, spent $155,000 on advertising last week, compared to $3.8 million from Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Yes on 50 campaign.
“It’s as full-throated a campaign for Democrats in California as if we were in the middle of a presidential election,” said Jon Fleischman, a former executive director of the California Republican Party. “But you can go to the house next door, occupied by Republicans, and it’s crickets — other than receiving their ballot in the mail.”
On Monday, Gov. Mike Braun called for a special session to redistrict Indiana’s nine congressional seats, two of which are held by Democrats in the Republican-supermajority state. His call is part of a nationwide effort to rebalance Congress after decades of heavily partisan redistricting everywhere Democrats hold state majorities, as well as congressional apportionment increasingly distorted by Democrat-encouraged mass illegal immigration.
“I am calling a special legislative session to protect Hoosiers from efforts in other states that seek to diminish their voice in Washington and ensure their representation in Congress is fair,” Braun said in a statement. “I am also asking the legislature to conform Indiana’s tax code with new federal tax provisions to ensure stability and certainty for taxpayers and tax preparers for 2026 filings.”
Dan Osborn is a candidate for U.S. Senate in Nebraska who is running as an independent, yet his campaign is being funded by donations from prominent Democrats and donations on the left-wing fundraising portal Act Blue.
The liberal media is playing along, as expected. Almost all coverage of Osborn describes him as an independent.
National Dems bankroll campaign of ‘fake independent’ Senate candidate from Midwestern state
Labor Union leader Dan Osborn, a candidate for U.S. Senate in Nebraska, has campaigned on being an “Independent,” going as far as saying he has no plans to caucus with either major party if elected, but his recent FEC filings paint a different picture.
Osborn has not only been endorsed by leaders of the Nebraska Democratic Party and mobilized fundraising on ActBlue, the Democratic Party’s main fundraising platform. He has also accepted donations from several prominent Washington Democrats and Democrat political action committees.

On Wednesday, former President Barack Obama joined California Gov. Gavin Newsom in a livestream for volunteers in support of Proposition 50, the governor’s redistricting measure, and the sole question on the ballot in the November 4 special election.
A former Republican Senator just upturned the election landscape for one particular seat in the U.S. Senate.
And he did so in more ways than one — possibly with the direction and support of President Trump.
I say possibly, because that endorsement hasn’t been publicly announced yet. Though White House meetings have taken place which reportedly included President Trump. (More on that as we get into this.)

A spokesperson for Rodric Bray, the Indiana Senate’s president pro tempore, told Politico Wednesday morning that “the votes aren’t there for redistricting,” prompting a number of heavyweight Trumpworld figures to hint at political consequences for Indiana Republicans if they don’t redraw the state’s map for the 2026 elections.

Frontrunning for the ages: Bernie-backed Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner handed the Pod Save America bros a video of himself running around in his underwear at a wedding in order to get in front of what the pod bros described as a piece of “opposition research.”
Democratic Senate hopeful Graham Platner is in damage control mode — again — after admitting that a tattoo on his chest looks eerily similar to a Nazi symbol.
The Maine Democrat, already reeling from a wave of backlash over old social media posts, now says he’ll have the ink removed and insists he had “no idea” of its connection to Nazi iconography.
“It was not until I started hearing from reporters and DC insiders that I realized this tattoo resembled a Nazi symbol,” Platner said in a statement to POLITICO. “I absolutely would not have gone through life having this on my chest if I knew that — and to insinuate that I did is disgusting. I am already planning to get this removed.”
Duke math professor Jonathan Mattingly conducted an analysis to discover if a new Trump-supported congressional map in North Carolina would result in the Republican Party locking in additional seats. The answer, he uncovered, is a resounding yes.
Three days before publishing his results on Sunday, the GOP revealed another mid-decade congressional map proposal that would bolster the party’s grip in Congress. It does so by expanding the boundaries of the state’s 1st Congressional District, which is currently held by Democrat Don Davis, pulling in some of the 3rd Congressional District, which is represented by Republican Greg Murphy.
They’ve blamed the government shutdown on congressional Republicans, claimed White House tariffs would steal Christmas and even rolled out funny costumes at Saturday’s “No Kings” protest, but nothing seems to be working for Democrats.
And now, after falling to a new low in popularity, Democrats have sunk below Republicans in the key “favorability index,” a sign that their kitchen sink strategy has failed.
In a telling poll reinforced by new Federal Election Commission numbers showing that House Republicans just broke a fundraising record, the Democratic favorability rating dropped another two points to 45%, 3 points behind the GOP, which has held steady at 48%.

Former President Barack Obama and California Governor Gavin Newsom are urging Californians to vote in favor of Proposition 50, a ballot measure that would replace the state’s independent redistricting system with a legislature-approved map projected to eliminate several Republican-held congressional districts.
On Tuesday, California Governor Gavin Newsom posted on X, “Listen to @barackobama,” sharing a new video featuring former President Barack Obama encouraging voters to support Proposition 50 in the state’s November 4 special election.
In the video, Obama says:
“California, the whole nation is counting on you. Democracy is on the ballot November 4. Republicans want to steal enough seats in Congress to rig the next election and wield unchecked power for two more years. With Prop 50, you can stop Republicans in their tracks. Prop 50 puts our elections back on a level playing field, which preserves Independent Redistricting over the long term, and lets the people decide. Return your ballot today. Vote yes on 50.”
The ad marks Obama’s latest effort to promote Gov. Newsom’s redistricting plan, which would replace California’s independent redistricting commission — created by voters in 2008 — with a partisan-drawn map. According to previous Breitbart News reports, the proposal would reduce Republican-held seats in California’s congressional delegation from nine to five, even though roughly 40 percent of voters supported Republican candidates in the 2024 election.
Obama has described Newsom’s proposal as a “reasoned and measured approach,” writing on X in August, “Over the long term, we shouldn’t have political gerrymandering in America, just a fair fight between Republicans and Democrats based on who’s got better ideas. But since Texas is taking direction from a partisan White House and gerrymandering in the middle of a decade to try and maintain the House despite their unpopular policies, I have tremendous respect for how Governor Newsom has approached this. He’s put forward a smart, measured approach in California, designed to address a very particular problem at a very particular moment in time.”
At a fundraiser on Martha’s Vineyard, Obama praised the initiative further, saying, “We’re only going to do it if and when Texas and/or other Republican states begin to pull these maneuvers. Otherwise, this doesn’t go into effect.”
California Republicans have sued to stop Newsom’s plan, calling it unconstitutional and arguing it violates the 30-day public notice requirement for legislation. The California Supreme Court, however, ruled in August that the plan could proceed, allowing the governor to use a “gut and amend” tactic to fast-track the measure through the legislature.
The special election — estimated to cost $250 million — will ask voters to approve the new map and amend the state constitution to permit mid-decade redistricting. The Democratic National Committee has launched bilingual outreach campaigns in support of Prop 50 focusing on Latino voters, while major donors including billionaire Tom Steyer have funded multimillion-dollar ad campaigns promoting the initiative.
Polls indicate that a majority of Californians still favor retaining the state’s independent redistricting commission. A UC Berkeley–Politico survey found that 64 percent of voters prefer the current system, compared to 36 percent who support the governor’s proposed changes.
California’s redistricting fight is part of a broader national battle following Texas’s new “One Big Beautiful Map” which adds five Republican-leaning districts. Obama and former Attorney General Eric Holder, through the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, have pledged to counter GOP-led redistricting efforts, characterizing them as “an existential threat to our democracy.”
Dominion Voting Systems has recently been purchased by a former election official and election integrity activist Scott Leiendecker. The company is now changing its name to Liberty Vote and will now be 100% based in America. The company promises to create “paper-based transparency, security and simplicity” to help restore election integrity. The action is sure to be a blow to DNC efforts to “assure” outcomes “for the good of the whole.”
In what appears to be a huge win for election integrity, the notorious Dominion Voting Systems has been sold to a longtime advocate for election reform.
Former Republican election official Scott Leiendecker is now the sole owner of Dominion.
This is a new chapter for Dominion, which is now called Liberty Vote and based 100% in the United States, out of Missouri.

Zoom in: Liberty Vote purchased Canada-based Dominion for an undisclosed sum, according to a person familiar with the transaction.
Liberty is a new company owned by Scott Leiendecker, who in 2011 created a software program focused on enabling election workers to verify voters and check them in at polling locations.
According to Leiendecker’s LinkedIn page, his company KNOWiNK has more than 150 employees and $55 million in annual revenue.
The company says its systems are used by election officials in more than a third of U.S. states and describes itself as the “nation’s leading provider of electronic poll books.”
Gov. Janet Mills (D-ME) launched her campaign Tuesday for next year’s Maine Senate race, presenting what Democrats believe will be incumbent Sen. Susan Collins‘s (R-ME) toughest opponent.
The term-limited Mills, who is serving her second consecutive term as governor, boosts Democrats’ longtime hopes of picking off one of the Senate’s most centrist Republicans in the battleground seat.
“I’ve never backed down from a bully, and I never will,” Mills said in her launch video, which focused heavily on President Donald Trump. “Honestly, if this President and this Congress were doing things that were even remotely acceptable, I wouldn’t be running for the U.S. Senate.
An elections integrity watchdog is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to weigh in on leftist-led Michigan’s dirty voter rolls, apparently filled with tens of thousands of dead registrants.
PILF argues that the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals erred in its ruling last year affirming a lower court opinion that found the Secretary of State’s office has made “reasonable efforts” to properly remove the names of deceased individuals from Michigan’s voter rolls. The case aims to clarify what a “reasonable effort” in the face of evidence that Michigan’s limited list-maintenance program’s design “virtually guarantees that thousands of deceased voters remain on the rolls.”
“Michigan’s refusal to act on overwhelming evidence of deceased registrants violates federal law,” said Kaylan Phillips, PILF’s legal counsel for the case. “The NVRA requires states to make efforts that keep the rolls accurate.”
PILF’s analysis of Michigan’s voter list identified more than 27,000 likely deceased individuals registered to vote. Some of those former citizens of the living have been dead for decades, according to the complaint. Of the suspect registrants, nearly 4,000 have been dead for at least 20 years, PILF found. Throughout the legal challenges, the foundation sent Michigan’s far-left secretary of state, Jocelyn Benson, obituaries and gravestones of many of the deceased registrants.
One individual registered to vote was apparently born in 1823 — some 14 years before Michigan became a state. The person was registered to vote in 2008. It’s either an invalid registration or state elections officials have some trouble entering basic data, the foundation’s investigation mused.

Former Democratic California Rep. Katie Porter is having a rough go of it, and she likely didn’t expect it. Her polling isn’t bad—she’s the frontrunner in the upcoming gubernatorial race—but her media meltdowns could have her riding a mudslide out of the race. It’s a disaster.
Not only is she insanely unlikable in these interviews, but she’s also downright nasty. It’s also nothing new. It’s a classic sign of a control freak or someone who was never pushed back on, because CBS Los Angeles gets you rattled as a Democrat. I don’t know what to tell you. In that interview, Porter was aghast that she would be asked if she needed Trump voters to win over in the primary. Porter wanted to end the interview.

Now we have this new clip from a Politico interview, where she’s caught berating a staffer for being in her shot:
A newly surfaced video shows Katie Porter — the frontrunner in next year’s race for California governor — blasting a staffer who interrupted a meeting the former House member was taping for the Biden administration.
“Get out of my fucking shot!” Porter said after the employee came into view.
Video of the exchange, exclusively obtained by POLITICO Wednesday, shows an online conversation between Porter and then-Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm in July 2021. Several minutes in, Porter’s staffer interjected to correct something the Democratic representative had said about electric vehicles. Porter then reprimanded her employee, who had also previously appeared periodically in the background during the recording.
“You also were in my shot before that. Stay out of my shot,” Porter said.
The staffer, whom POLITICO is not identifying out of privacy concerns and who was not the source of the video, declined to comment.
New York’s Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul’s once-comfortable lead in the 2026 governor’s race could be slipping away, according to a new poll.
New polling data shows Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) closing the gap to less than a single point after voters learn more about each candidate’s record.
The GrayHouse survey, conducted for Stefanik’s leadership PAC, E-PAC, shows Hochul initially leading Stefanik 48% to 43%.
However, once respondents were informed of Hochul’s record on issues like bail reform, New York’s soaring cost of living, and her endorsement of radical socialist NYC mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani, her lead collapsed to 46.4% to Stefanik’s 45.9%.
‘Worst Governor in America’
Stefanik, who launched her campaign in September, wasted no time hammering Hochul’s record in a blistering statement.
“The data is clear that Kathy Hochul, the worst governor in America, is a deeply embattled and historically unpopular failed governor who is struggling to even gain support from her own party,” Stefanik said.
“Kathy Hochul has destroyed New York State, creating an affordability crisis with the highest taxes in the nation, and the highest energy, utility, rent, and grocery bills.
“Her single-party Democrat rule, failed bail reform, and sanctuary state policies have put criminals and illegals first and New Yorkers last.

A participant named Liam Birmingham asked Ramaswamy why a “polytheistic ideology” like Hinduism would share “Christian values.” Ramaswamy responded by clarifying that he is a monotheist from the Vendanta tradition of Advaita philosophy. “With due respect, I’ll just cut in right there because it’s one thing I have a little bit of authority on. I believe in this one true God from the Vedanta tradition of Advaita philosophy,” he told Birmingham.
And he continued, “I believe there’s one true God. He resides in all of us and he appears in different forms, but it’s one true God. So I’m an ethical monotheist. That’s the way I would describe my faith. Now I will tell you, I’m not running to be pastor of Ohio. I’m running to be governor of Ohio. And I didn’t run to be pastor of America. I ran to be president of the United States of America.”Drawing parallels with Christianity, Ramaswamy highlighted the conceptual similarity between the Hindu understanding of divine manifestations and the Christian doctrine of the Holy Trinity. “Doesn’t make you a polytheist, does it?” he questioned, adding that both faiths reconcile “the one and the many.”
