Kristi Noem

Blurb:

Congressional Democrats are referring outgoing Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem to the Justice Department for lying under oath during her oversight hearings before the House and Senate earlier this month.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), the ranking members of their chambers’ respective judiciary committees, asked Attorney General Pam Bondi on Monday to open a perjury investigation into Noem’s “demonstrably false statements” in front of Congress on March 3 and 4.

“A number of her statements appear to violate criminal statutes prohibiting perjury and knowingly making false statements to Congress,” they wrote in a seven-page letter, citing two federal laws to support their request.

“After months of evading our Committees’ requests to testify in routine oversight hearings, Secretary Noem made a series of demonstrably false statements in a brazen attempt to undermine critical congressional oversight of the Department of Homeland Security,” the letter states.

The top Democrats point to Noem’s testimony on whether the Department of Homeland Security complies with court orders as an example of a false statement. They argued DHS has repeatedly defied court orders, but Noem insisted otherwise.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s clash with GOP senators this week was the final straw for President Donald Trump, though insiders say her fate had been sealed long before Tuesday’s hearing.

Two days after that hearing, Trump announced via social media that Noem would be replaced at DHS by Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), effective March 31. In the same statement, Trump announced that Noem, the former governor of South Dakota, would become the new special envoy for “The Shield of the Americas,” a new security initiative in the Western Hemisphere that’s expected to be formally announced on Saturday in Doral, Florida.

Kristi Noem received a summary demotion from President Donald Trump a day after a Senate hearing exposed a massive $220 million DHS ad campaign that seemed more about promoting Kristi Noem than DHS. Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) all but accused Noem of lying when she claimed President Trump approved the campaign in advance. Action by President Trump would indicate she did not, indeed, seek prior approval before she ran a pro-Noem campaign using American tax dollars to do it.

Noem will be reassigned as “Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas,” which President Trump called “our new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere.” Trump has chosen Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) to replace him. The Senator is popular with the MAGA base. He is known for his firebrand confrontations with Progmericans during Senate hearings.

Here’s the Moment That Appears to Have Cost Kristi Noem Her Job as DHS Secretary – westernjournal.com

Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy is much better known for demolishing Democrats than ridiculing Republicans, but Kristi Noem might be the exception.

The South Dakota Republican and the now-soon-to-be-former Cabinet official made headlines Wednesday as Kennedy used a Senate hearing to probe insistently about a taxpayer-funded advertising campaign that made Noem out to be some kind of heroine for Homeland Security.

And only a day later, Noem’s ouster was making headlines of its own.

Kennedy’s questioning was polite — almost excruciatingly so — but his skepticism was on full display over Noem’s answers when it came to whether President Donald Trump was fully behind the $220 million ad campaign.

“Sorry to interrupt,” he said at one point. “But the president approved, ahead of time, your spending $220 million running TV ads across the country in which you are featured prominently?”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said officials blocked her and her team from entering an Illinois municipal building Friday for a bathroom break.

The secretary took to X to describe the incident at the Village of Broadview Municipal Building. “My team and I were just blocked from accessing the Village of Broadview Municipal Building in Illinois. We were stopping for a quick bathroom break. This is a public building. The Village of Broadview receives at least $1 million in federal funding every year,” Noem posted.

The secretary called the incident “absolutely shameful” and blamed Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and “his cronies” for how they treat law enforcement. (RELATED: ‘These Networks Are So Sold Out’: Noem Slams NBC After False ICE Report On 5-Year-Old)

Conservative commentator Benny Johnson witnessed the incident and shared video showing a man holding the door shut while shouting “No, you cannot” as Noem’s group approached the building.

A thief was able to steal the purse of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem while she dined at a downtown Washington, D.C., restaurant on Sunday evening.

The bag contained $3,000, Noem’s driver’s license, medication, apartment keys, passport, blank checks, a makeup bag, and her DHS access badge. A spokesperson for Noem confirmed the robbery in a statement to Blaze News.

The cash was intended to be used to purchase Easter presents and activities for Noem’s family, as well as the dinner.

Noem was also approached at the White House Easter Egg Roll and asked about the incident. She confirmed the report and said that the matter had not yet been resolved.

A law enforcement source told CBS News that the Secret Service had reviewed security footage from the restaurant and saw a white male wearing a medical mask take the bag. The unknown male then left the restaurant.

Kristi Noem, announces construction of 7 more miles of border wall starting today– gatewayhispanic.com

Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, has announced the start of construction on an additional seven miles of border wall as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to strengthen security along the southern border of the United States. This announcement reinforces the administration’s commitment to protecting national sovereignty and reducing the illegal trafficking of drugs, guns and people that has plagued the country in recent years.

‘Our nation’s security is non-negotiable,’ Noem declared during the press conference in Texas, where the first phases of the project will be carried out. ‘Under President Trump’s leadership, we are taking back control of our border and sending a clear message to the cartels and human traffickers: you are not welcome in our country.’

Since assuming leadership of the Department of Homeland Security, Noem has prioritised the implementation of tougher and more effective immigration policies, seeking to reverse the border crisis inherited from the Biden administration. With the completion of these seven miles of wall, it is hoped to reinforce strategic points that have been used by criminal organisations to facilitate the illegal entry of migrants and the trafficking of drugs such as fentanyl, one of the greatest threats to US public security.
