Transgender Ideology

A federal judge on Friday ordered President Donald Trump’s U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to unfreeze federal funding to Maine, as the administration continues to battle the Democrat-run state over transgender athletes.

District Court Judge John Woodcock issued a temporary restraining order in the case brought by Maine against the USDA, although he noted his order does not weigh in on the larger dispute surrounding Maine allowing trans-identifying males on female sports teams and in female spaces.

USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins announced on April 2 that the agency had begun freezing federal funds to Maine because of Democrat Gov. Janet Mills’ refusal to bar transgender-identifying boys from competing in girls’ sports. The USDA said it paused distribution of funds after sending multiple requests to Mills urging her to comply with President Donald Trump’s executive order and Title IX, which prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities receiving federal funding.

“You cannot openly violate federal law against discrimination in education and expect federal funding to continue unabated,” Rollins said in the letter. “Your defiance of federal law has cost your state, which is bound by Title IX in educational programming. Today, I am freezing Maine’s federal funds for certain administrative and technological functions in schools.”

As the state of Maine continues to defy federal civil rights law and allow men to compete in women’s sports, an initial investigation by the Education Department has been referred to the U.S. Department of Justice for “further enforcement action.”

The Justice Department taking over the investigation is an escalation in the fight between the federal government, which is trying to force Maine to comply with Title IX civil rights law to protect women and girls in sports, and Democrat Gov. Janet Mills, who wants to continue the practice.

“The Department has given Maine every opportunity to come into compliance with Title IX, but the state’s leaders have stubbornly refused to do so, choosing instead to prioritize an extremist ideological agenda over their students’ safety, privacy, and dignity,” Acting Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Craig Trainor said in a press release. “The Maine Department of Education will now have to defend its discriminatory practices before a Department administrative law judge and in a federal court against the Justice Department. Governor Mills would have done well to adhere to the wisdom embedded in the old idiom — be careful what you wish for. Now she will see the Trump Administration in court.”

– A new Telegraph report reveals a British daycare allegedly kicked a toddler out of their daycare for being “transphobic.” The incident allegedly happened during the 2022-23 school year, but is only just now coming to light, even though the names of the school and student have not been divulged. 94 other pupils had similar discharges that same school year.

JK Rowling said of the news, “If you think small children should be punished for being able to recognise sex, you are a dangerous zealot who should be nowhere near kids or in any position of authority over them.”

A British toddler was removed from nursery school after being accused of being transphobic or homophobic, according to local media reports. And it turns out dozens of other elementary-aged kids suffered a similar fate across the U.K.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer is pushing back against a new Telegraph report which cites data from the Department for Education (DfE) that pointed out that a child, around the age of three or four, was suspended from a state school for “abuse against sexual orientation and gender identity.” It reportedly happened during the 2022-23 academic year but it’s just now becoming public.

“Obviously, the Prime Minister would not support those sorts of measures. But equally, I don’t know the specific incident,” a Downing Street spokesperson told the outlet Tuesday.

“I think the data around this is all pretty significantly analyzed, so I think it’s quite hard to provide any comment on any specific cases. Pupils and staff should never be subject to abuse, but any action taken to tackle behavior should also be proportionate,” they added.

According to the Telegraph, the name of the school and further details about the case were not disclosed.

However, additional data from the report revealed that 94 pupils at state primary schools were suspended or expelled for alleged transphobia and homophobia in 2022-23, including 10 children under the age of seven.

“Every once in a while, the extremes of gender ideology throw up a story that seems too crazy to believe, and a toddler being suspended from nursery for so-called transphobia or homophobia is one such example,” Helen Joyce, director of advocacy at Sex Matters, told the outlet.

Joyce pointed out this is not an isolated incident citing that, “13 four and five-year-olds were suspended or permanently excluded from school for the same reason.”

“It’s unforgivable for children’s vital early education to be so traumatically disrupted by school leaders who prioritize activists’ demands over [a child’s] wellbeing,” she added.

Notably, author J.K. Rowling, who has openly criticized trans ideology, also took issue with the suspension calling it “totalitarian insanity.”

A DfE spokesperson told the Telegraph that “all pupils and staff should feel safe and protected at school and should never face violence or abuse.”

But Rowling responded on X, “If you think small children should be punished for being able to recognise sex, you are a dangerous zealot who should be nowhere near kids or in any position of authority over them.”

As CBN News Digital reported, the British novelist said she would “happily” go to jail if the government in the United Kingdom made it illegal to refer to someone by anything other than their preferred pronouns.

“I’ll happily do two years if the alternative is compelled speech and forced denial of the reality and importance of sex,” she posted to X in 2023. “Bring on the court case, I say. It’ll be more fun than I’ve ever had on a red carpet.”

As CBN News has reported, on a separate front the U.K. has made strides to protect vulnerable young people who are confused about their gender identity. Last year, the use of puberty blockers on children was indefinitely banned after the landmark Cass Review found that there is “not enough evidence of safety and clinical effectiveness” for using the drugs long-term.

“Puberty blockers are powerful drugs with unproven benefits and significant risks, and that is why I recommended that they should only be prescribed following a multi-disciplinary assessment and within a research protocol,” said Dr. Hilary Cass, the author of the review and the nation’s top pediatrician.

Cass also pointed out that there is little research on the effects of the drugs due to an “increasingly toxic, ideological, and polarised public debate” about the topic.

“There are few other areas of healthcare where professionals are so afraid to openly discuss their views, where people are vilified on social media, and where name-calling echoes the worst bullying behaviour,” she said. “This must stop.”

The walkout occurred amid a heated debate over Senate Bill (SB) 185.

The legislation subsequently passed the House by a 100-2 vote.

All Democrats opted out of the vote through their departure, according to Fox Atlanta.

In a 7-2 vote, all Democrats on the committee voted against AB 89. Though many people traveled to testify about the harms they had suffered under California’s current athletic policies, Democrats claimed that there were only a handful of transgender students competing in girls’ sports. They instead turned the focus on President Donald Trump’s administration.

“There is no epidemic of transgender kids playing basketball, soccer, or any other sport, for that matter,” Speaker Robert Rivas claimed. “The real threat is the Trump administration taking away abortion access and dismantling programs that help women. And finally, I can’t emphasize this point enough — I’m not going to support a bill that takes rights away from a protected class of people,”

The Department of Agriculture said on Wednesday that it had frozen federal funding for education programs in Maine, the latest in a barrage of actions targeting the state since its Democratic governor, Janet Mills, sparred with President Donald Trump over the issue of transgender athletes at the White House in February.

The agriculture secretary, Brooke Rollins, notified Mills in a letter that funding would be stopped while the agency reviews grants awarded to Maine by the Biden administration, many of which “appear to be wasteful, redundant, or otherwise against the priorities of the Trump administration,” Rollins wrote in the letter, according to a statement.

It was not immediately clear which educational programs would be affected by the funding freeze. The government’s statement said its latest action would not alter “federal feeding programs or direct assistance to citizens.”

On “Transgender Day of Visibility,” a soldier who identified as Christina Winters posted a video on TikTok criticizing the Trump administration under the username “alexandrahamilton01.”

Captain Winters slammed the Trump administration for its recent actions related to transgender individuals, including a prohibition on transgender people serving in the military and a ban on medical facilities providing sex changes for minors.

“The current administration wants us to not be visible, they want us to be invisible, they want to remove us from society,” Winters alleged. “They want to ensure that we are disenfranchised, that we no longer have a voice, that we no longer have the right to enter any space that is safe.”

One of the bill’s lawmakers voted to block “would have required the California Interscholastic Federation, the governing body for high school sports, to adopt rules banning students whose sex was assigned male at birth from participating on a girls’ school sports team,” noted The Associated Press.

The other bill would have reversed a 2013 law allowing students to participate in sex-segregated school programs, including on sports teams, and use bathrooms and other facilities that align with their gender identity.”

Both bills would have applied to K-12 students as well as college students.

Republicans supported the bill, arguing it would protect women, while Democrats denounced it as a cruel attack on LGBTQ rights and transgender youth.

“I don’t think anybody should be gender policing women and girls,” said Democratic Assemblymember Chris Ward.

(LifeSiteNews) — Pride comes before a fall – and as some major companies rethink previous “woke” policies, the corporate gravy train LGBT activists have relied on to fund their activism has finally begun to slow.

According to NPR, both Anheuser-Busch – famous for beer brands like Beck’s and Budweiser – and the telecoms giant Comcast have both pulled funding from San Francisco Pride. Anheuser-Busch has also ended their sponsorship with St. Louis Pride.

They aren’t the only ones. Diageo, the beverage company responsible for Johnny Walker, Smirnoff, and Guinness has pulled support from San Francisco Pride, as has Jackson Family Wines (which includes La Crema Wines). Meta, the tech giant that includes both Facebook and Instagram, has also reportedly pulled funding from San Francisco Pride.

Significantly, a number of those companies have been attempting to distance themselves from wokeness after spending years wrapping themselves in the rainbow flag. Mark Zuckerberg of Meta announced earlier this year that he was reintroducing free speech to Meta’s social media platforms and began by removing many of the restrictions around LGBT debates (and had the tampon dispensers removed from the male washrooms at Facebook’s headquarters).

The Department of Education (ED) announced Wednesday it has found the Maine Department of Education in violation of civil rights laws for continuing to allow men to compete in women’s sports.

Ed opened an investigation into the state in February after a public spat between President Donald Trump and Democratic Maine Gov. Janet Mills during which the governor declined to comply with Trump’s ban on men in women’s sports. The investigation concluded the state “has policies and practices that are in violation of Title IX,” according to a press release.

“The outcome of OCR’s investigation of MDOE confirms that it has violated federal antidiscrimination law by allowing boys to compete in girls’ sports and boys to occupy girls’ intimate facilities,” Craig Trainor, acting assistant secretary for Civil Rights at the department said in a statement. “Today’s findings and proposed resolution agreement demonstrate to MDOE and any other entity receiving federal funding that the Trump Administration will not tolerate unlawful discrimination against girls and women. If Maine does not swiftly and completely come into compliance with Title IX, we will initiate the process to limit MDOE’s access to federal funding.”

The Trump administration has suspended approximately $175 million US in federal funding for the University of Pennsylvania over the participation of a transgender athlete in its swimming program, the White House said Wednesday.

The Ivy League school has been facing an Education Department investigation focused on its swimming program. That inquiry was announced last month immediately after U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order intended to ban transgender athletes from competing in girls and women’s sports.

However, the federal money that was suspended came from a separate review of discretionary funding for universities, the White House said. It came from the Department of Defence and the Department of Health and Human Services.

A Penn spokesperson said the school had not received any notification or details of the action.

“It is important to note, however, that Penn has always followed NCAA [National Collegiate Athletic Association] and Ivy League policies regarding student participation on athletic teams,” spokesperson Ron Ozio said.

An Ohio appeals court partially overturned the state’s ban on gender-affirming medical care for minors.

Why it matters: The Tuesday decision delivers a win for transgender kids as the Trump administration vows to ban funding for youth gender-affirming care nationwide.

State of play: A three-judge panel on the Ohio’s 10th District Court of Appeals reversed a lower court ruling by deciding that a state law preventing transgender kids from accessing puberty blockers and gender-affirming hormone therapy for kids violates parents’ rights.

What they’re saying: “This win restores the right of trans youth in Ohio to choose vitally important health care, with the support of their families and physicians,” ACLU of Ohio legal director Freda Levenson said in a statement.

Unlike similar laws in other states that primarily target adult entertainment platforms, HB 43 has a much broader scope. The law applies to any website that hosts “material harmful to minors,” expanding the range of online content subject to age verification requirements.

Under this definition, “material harmful to minors” includes “any picture, image, graphic image file, film, videotape, or other visual depiction that is obscene or is child pornography.” This classification extends to material that is already illegal to distribute under existing laws.

At least 32 public school districts in Rhode Island have parental exclusion policies and refuse to notify parents if their child begins identifying as a gender different from their own.

According to a report from Parents Defending Education (PDE), 113,452 Rhode Island students (83%) attend schools that actively hide this information from parents. PDE noted the number is likely higher, as the 32 have their policies publicly available, but the state actually enacted guidance to get all school districts to keep the critical medial information secret.

“Parents have a right to know what’s going on with their children in school, especially something as sensitive and emotional as gender identity. These parental exclusion policies are one of the biggest scandals in America and are now found in a supermajority of Rhode Island schools,” Paul Runko, Director of Strategic Initiatives at Parents Defending Education, told The Federalist. “Keeping secrets from parents is not only extremely unpopular but it is immoral. These policies are causing increased distrust between parents and schools, which is never good for student mental health or academic achievement.”

45 Democratic Senators voted NO on Protecting Women & Girls in Sports,” former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines wrote on X. “Never, ever let them gaslight you into thinking Democrats care about ‘women’s rights’…”

Known as the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025, the proposed legislation sought to alter the Education Amendments of 1972 by making it unlawful for entities who receive federal dollars and facilitate, operate, and/or sponsor “athletic programs or activities to permit a person whose sex is male to participate in an athletic program or activity that is designated for women or girls.” The bill specifies that sex “shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.”

Monday’s procedural vote required support from at least 60 senators to move the bill forward to a final vote in the Senate. A companion measure previously passed (218-206) in the House of Representatives in January, with only two Democrats voting alongside all Republicans in support.

A new study showed that self-described transgender people who had so-called “gender-affirming surgery” experienced worse mental health outcomes relative to other gender dysphoric people who did not have the surgery.

The new study, published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine on Feb. 25, said that those who underwent the procedures had an “elevated risk of mental health disorders” such as “depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and substance use disorder.”

The researchers added that “the heightened risk of mental health issues post-surgery was particularly pronounced among individuals undergoing feminizing transition compared to masculinizing transition.”

Colin Wright, the editor-in-chief of Reality’s Last Stand and a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, noted that the authors strangely recommended additional “gender-sensitive mental health support” rather than simply questioning “the medical legitimacy of performing ‘gender-affirming’ surgeries given the significantly worse mental health outcomes among recipients.”

Wright observed from the study that males with gender dysphoria who received the surgeries had 35.6 percent higher suicidal ideation, 120 percent higher depression, 130 percent higher substance abuse disorder, and 388 percent higher anxiety than those who did not.

Benjamin Ryan, a health and science reporter at The New York Times, then spotlighted some limitations from the study.

In particular, he noted that the study looked at the records of adults with gender dysphoria who received the surgeries but who had no mental health diagnoses beforehand and compared that to those who had diagnoses two years later.

Are you surprised that they’re now showing brutal mental illness associated with trans surgeries?

“I find it curious that many people with gender dysphoria would not at least qualify for other MH diagnoses,” he said. “So that immediately makes me wonder about the validity of these findings.”

“And as the paper suggests, it’s possible that after people had surgeries, their gender dysphoria improved and/or they started focusing on other MH issues, which could lead their care providers to input other MH diagnoses into their chart,” he added.

However, Wright in his post, highlighted a portion of the study that explained what Ryan took issue with: “By excluding patients with documented pre-existing mental health diagnoses, this study sought to ensure that identified mental health outcomes likely represented new or emergent conditions rather than pre-existing disorders.”

And Chloe Cole, an outspoken detransitioner who underwent “gender-affirming” surgery as a youth, affirmed the outcome of the study from her own experiences.

“Removing my breasts to pretend being a boy did not, in fact improve my mental health,” she reacted.

“According to this study, I am far from alone.”

Common sense would indeed side with Cole’s conclusion.

It’s hard to imagine that removing healthy body parts in alignment with one’s delusion, rather than addressing the delusion itself, would meaningfully improve mental health issues.

That doesn’t even get into the sexual perversion that leads at least some self-described transgender people to have so-called gender transitions.

There are also people out there who have serious delusions leading them to believe that they should not have as many limbs.

If a doctor therefore chops off their legs, he would not be acting with mercy, but would be engaged in the worst form of cruelty.

In the same way that actual mercy would look like dealing with the false belief that they should not have any limbs, if we want to show actual mercy toward self-described transgender people, we would not affirm their false “gender identity,” but would affirm that they are indeed members of the sex in which God created them.

Along with detransitioners like Cole, we must also have the courage to say that aloud.
