The UN has repeatedly reported that Gaza is experiencing a humanitarian crisis, with widespread hunger and hundreds of thousands of people on the brink of famine. Israel has come under increasing pressure to ease the humanitarian burden on Gaza.
The army said what it called a ‘tactical pause’ would begin in the Rafah area at 8 am and remain in effect until 7 pm local time. It said the pauses would take place every day until further notice.
