Right in front of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump stunned the world by declaring the U.S. would take over Gaza and turn it into the “Riviera of the Middle East.” Netanyahu appeared somewhat stunned, but otherwise seemed to embrace that idea, an assumption that would officially be confirmed later on.
Action has already begun among Middle East nations, with Egypt calling for a summit on the Gaza problem. When King Abdullah of Jordan met President Donald Trump at the White House, the President doubled down on his Gaza idea. The King suggested he would be willing to take in Palestinian children who were ill. After the meeting, he suggested Egypt might be next in welcoming some Palestinians to stay with them.
