The Sudan Civil War rages on after a month, triggering a humanitarian crisis warning from the UN. The military government that took over Sudan has announced it has severed ties with the United Arab Emirates (the UAE), but the UAE refuses to recognize the government.
More troubling for the government is news that the oil industry in South Sudan may soon have to shut down in the wake of drone strikes from “paramilitary forces,” resistance to the military takeover. South Sudan relies on Sudan to get its oil to sea. Sudan’s energy and Petroleum Ministry wrote South Sudan, warning them about the potential need to shut down operations until they can stop the drone attacks.
