The Trump administration is managing a growing friction between Border Patrol and ICE over illegal alien deportation targeting, which it has settled by making it clear which side it’s own. ICE was pushing to continue to focus on deporting the worst offenders while Border Control has been pushing to expand the targeting to almost everyone. Apparently, Border Patrol has won.
They signaled their siding with Border Patrol with a wholesale overhaul of ICE in multiple offices nationwide. Many of these ICE officials might be replaced with Border Patrol officials. According to Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin reported “up to 12 ICE field office chiefs being removed… a handful of the ICE Chiefs will likely be replaced by Border Patrol & CBP officials, some of whom will be hand-picked by aggressive & controversial Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino.”
There was a massive overhaul across numerous offices at Immigration and Customs Enforcement. It was explained in a lengthy Twitter post by Fox News’ Bill Melugin. That’s the mindset, and the Trump team is looking for ICE officials who can accomplish that goal. And yes, reportedly, some people at the Department of Homeland Security are not pleased with this move. Scores of ICE officials were removed from their posts, with their replacements likely coming from the Border Patrol:
BREAKING: Per four senior DHS & Trump admin sources, a mass removal of ICE leadership around the country is underway, with up to 12 ICE field office chiefs being removed & reassigned in an effort to increase deportation numbers. I’m told the move is spearheaded by Corey…
