Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton accused state Rep. James Talarico (D-TX), his Democratic Senate rival, of election fraud after a report alleged that Talarico registered to vote at his mother’s Austin address shortly before filing to run for a Texas House seat.
The Federalist reported that Talarico registered at the address in December 2021, days before the candidate filing deadline, as he prepared to campaign in a newly drawn district where he had not previously lived.
Paxton seized on the allegations Tuesday, accusing Talarico of disregarding Texas election law to secure a safe Democratic seat.
