Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he is prepared to travel to President Donald Trump’s G20 summit in Miami and meet face-to-face with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a bid to produce concrete results toward ending the war.

Zelensky said he would attend the December summit if Putin participates, opening the possibility of the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

“Yes, of course. We have to come. We have to meet, to speak and make decisions,” Zelensky told German outlet Deutsche Welle during an interview at Canadian Forces Base North Bay.

But the Kremlin quickly poured cold water on the prospect, insisting that a meeting between Putin and Zelensky in Miami is “impossible.”
