EXCERPT:
The home of a Russian anti-plague scientist whose mystery death triggered fears of a deadly Black Death outbreak was repeatedly disinfected by teams wearing gas masks and protective suits in the hours after she died.
Daria Shipilova’s grieving mother Svetlana, a doctor, revealed the 28-year-old researcher has not been buried – because she and other relatives are locked in quarantine. She said of doctors treating Daria while reflecting on her own practise: ‘I saved more than one patient like that, but they didn’t save my daughter.
“They simply let my daughter die.” She revealed she has not been told the cause of her daughter’s death four days afterwards.
“I’m waiting for it to become official. Not just something in the media; it has to be an official document. It’s very hard for me right now. This whole spectacle drags on,” she said. There were claims that Russia has hidden a serious infection – possibly the Black Death plague.
