THE man who allegedly rammed an Australian politician with his car in a horror “deliberate” attack has been identified, reports say.
Independent MP Helen Haines, 65, was struck by the Toyota Land Cruiser “at least three times” and pinned underneath on Monday outside her regional Victoria office.
The man allegedly behind the wheel was Brendan Nugent, 43, according to The Age newspaper.
Nugent is from Tarrawingee – a short 15-minute drive from Wangaratta where the attack unfolded – and has a history of activism in the area.
