German Chancellor Friedrich Merz took aim at the realities facing the United States in its war against Iran. Speaking to students in Marsberg, the German head of state did not hold back, stating that the “entire nation is being humiliated” by Iran.

When the war first broke out, Merz backed Trump and his actions in Iran, saying the U.S. was doing the dirty work for the world. Now, with the war dragging on, he is sharply changing his tune as his approval drops to rock-bottom support levels.

The chancellor specifically noted the role of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in putting the U.S. in its current predicament. He also took issue with having started the war, thinking it would be an easy win. And America, he made clear, should have learned from its own history by now from other failed wars.

Two days after the White House Correspondents Dinner shooting and people are stumbling all over each other to congratulate the Secret Service over its outstanding performance.

Yesterday we received here at AT an email from the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association with congrats for:

the extraordinary actions of the United States Secret Service and partnering federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies…

During the high-profile event at the Washington Hilton, an armed suspect allegedly forced his way toward a secured area and opened fire, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement personnel on scene. Within seconds, Secret Service agents and other officers engaged the suspect, returned fire, and subdued him before he could reach the main ballroom where the President, senior administration officials, and hundreds of attendees were gathered.

That sentiment was echoed by none other than Barack Obama: “It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them.”

Also heard from was Little Timmy Walz, enforcer for the Somalian benefits theft cartel in Minnesota: “I’m grateful for the swift response from law enforcement at White House Correspondents’ dinner.”

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected an appeal in a case involving the Leon County School District that inspired Florida’s new laws regarding the teaching of gender and sexuality in the classroom.

In 2021, January Littlejohn sued the school district, alleging teachers and administrators violated her parental rights after speaking with her child about a “gender support plan” without her consent.

The case was a catalyst for Florida’s “Parental Rights in Education,” law, also known by critics as “Don’t Say Gay,” and quickly became state and national news. Littlejohn appeared alongside Gov. Ron DeSantis when the measure was passed in 2022, and President Donald Trump called Littlejohn a “courageous advocate” at a joint address to Congress last year.

Manufacturing’s traditional design-build-test cycle rested on a single assumption: Real-world testing was the only reliable test environment.

That assumption is now shifting.

Today, high-fidelity simulation produces synthetic training data accurate enough for production-grade AI. This is enabling perception systems, reasoning models and agentic workflows to excel in live factory environments.

OpenUSD has emerged as the connective standard that makes this practical, and the manufacturers building on it are already experiencing measurable results.

As of April 20, the DHS reported that 830 TSA officers had quit due to the lapse in funding, according to Politico. In the last eight days, another 300 handed in their notices.

The latest figure is roughly the same number of TSA employees who departed the agency during the historic 43-day government shutdown last fall.

With the current shutdown, airport security is especially taking a toll and could have a serious impact on air travel as the nation hosts the FIFA World Cup and the semiquincentennial this summer.

Last month, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to pay TSA employees until a funding deal comes to fruition. However, the money could run dry if the shutdown lasts much longer.

Over 70 percent of sections for required honors course push ideological content

Arizona’s public universities require their honors students to complete coursework promoting a “diversity, equity, and inclusion” agenda, alongside anti-capitalist and anti-Israel themes, a recent report from a conservative think tank revealed.

Arizona State University’s Barrett, The Honors College, requires honors students to engage with mandatory readings that include discussions of sexually explicit LGBTQ content and explore racially and sexually charged questions, according to the Goldwater Institute’s report called “Desert Brain Drain.”

For example, one instructor requires students to discuss the “relationship between the white female gaze and the eroticized black male body.”

Another professor provides students with “a one-sided view of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, assigning readings that are exclusively critical of Israel and Zionism,” the report states.

“Over 70% of all Barrett course sections for the mandatory ‘The Human Event’ (HON 272) reviewed by Goldwater” push this ideological content, it states.

NEW YORK — A Manhattan judge has tossed the murder conviction of a man who spent 25 years in prison after a review of his case revealed new evidence that may have been withheld by prosecutors, including thousands of dollars in payments made to the mother of their key eyewitness.

The man, Harry Ruiz, has maintained his innocence since his 1994 conviction for the fatal shooting of Emmanuel Felix, an alleged drug dealer in Harlem. Ruiz, now 58, was released on parole in 2019.

“I feel like I can finally breathe again,” he said on Monday, leaving the courthouse flanked by family and his attorneys.

It’s been 48 hours since the attempted assassination of President Trump and senior Cabinet officials at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Sadly, one network endeavors to deemphasize the words contained within the shooter’s manifesto, and hide his leanings from viewer consideration.

Watch as correspondent Matt Gutman papers over all of these important insights into the shooter, reducing his statements to his mockery of the security arrangements outside the D.C. Hilton:

MATT GUTMAN: In an email to family timed to be sent just before the incident, police say the suspect himself expressed surprise at the security footprint. He wrote “I walk in with multiple weapons and not a single person there considers the possibility that I could be a threat. The security at the event is all outside… because apparently no one thought about what happens if someone checks in the day before.”

The ongoing military conflict regarding Iran and the Strait of Hormuz may well mirror a future situation off-Earth — the use of cislunar space, the region between the moon and our planet. Think blockades, seizing of ships, impacts on the global economy, repercussions in terms of needed resources and markets, from fuel to high-tech semiconductors and production processes. Now turn your attention skyward and note that the U.S. Space Force is establishing a dedicated acquisition office to appraise the importance of the cislunar region for warfighting and national security.

In recent weeks, there has been palpable excitement over NASA’s Artemis 2 moon mission and the announcement of the space agency’s ambitious plans for human habitation of the moon. “In parallel, Iran has blocked the Strait of Hormuz, causing global energy markets to spike and everyone to notice, yet again, how vulnerable we are to accidents of geography,” said Marc Feldman, executive director of the Center for the Study of Space Crime, Piracy & Governance. “Sometimes, a pair of events contains a warning, if you are able to see it”, Feldman added.

In a press conference minutes after the attack at the White House Correspondents Dinner, Trump took a more conciliatory tone towards the media, whom he has previously dubbed the “enemy of the people.”

But Leavitt, who was on stage with Trump at the dinner when the incident happened, said there had been “systemic demonisation” of the 79-year-old president.

“Nobody in recent years has faced more bullets and more violence than President Trump,” said Leavitt, who returned from maternity leave to host the briefing at the White House.

“Those who constantly, falsely label and slander the president as a fascist, as a threat to democracy, and compare him to Hitler to score political points, are fueling this kind of violence,” she added.

A would-be assassin with reported intent to target the Trump administration was caught on video charging through a security checkpoint during an event attended by the president and members of his cabinet. This marks yet another assassination attempt against Donald Trump, and like the others, Saturday’s attempt did not happen in a vacuum.

Just days before the attempted assassination, Marxist streamer Hasan Piker defended Luigi Mangione’s December 2024 alleged murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson during an interview with the New York Times (NYT). He invoked Friedrich Engels’ concept of “social murder” to suggest that Thompson was guilty of “systematized forms of violence” through the health care system.

According to Piker, Thompson was “engaging in a tremendous amount of social murder.”

It was stunning commentary to say the least. But what was more shocking was that the Times’ Nadja Spiegelman described the interview as a “lively” exchange. There was no pushback against Piker’s defense and justification of murder, just the Times lending its name-brand “credibility” to the idea that some killings are justifiable.

A California teacher and registered Democrat named Cole Allen appears to have attempted to kill members of the Trump administration, including Trump, at a White House Correspondents Dinner. He was injured in the attack, and so were two secret service agents. The fallout from the shooting has only just begun. The shooting happened at the Wahington D.C. Hilton Hotel.

Tommy Whiteman has resigned from his position as head baseball coach at the Texas Home Educators Sports Association (THESA) after it came to light that he is a registered sex offender. Whiteman is 46 years old, and the fact that he is a sex offender was not mentioned to parents at any point during his time with the organization.

Before his resignation, THESA made every parent sign a waiver agreeing to Whiteman’s leadership if they wanted their child to play on the team. The waiver did not mention his conviction. When THESA Board President Daryn Eudaly announced the resignation to families on April 7, the message said he left due to “operational challenges.”

According to Brobible, the board thanked Whiteman for his dedication and asked families to pray for him, without ever bringing up his legal history. Whiteman is a former professional athlete who played seven seasons in the Minor Leagues after being drafted by the Houston Astros in 2000.

The U.S. Department of Education found that four school districts in Kansas broke federal law by failing to inform parents that their children were undergoing “gender transitions.”

The agency announced on April 17 that the four schools — Kansas City, Kansas Public School District; Olathe Public Schools; Shawnee Mission School District; and Topeka Public Schools — violated the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.

The Department of Education said in a release that the schools “had policies that were likely to prevent schools from notifying parents of their child’s so-called ‘gender transition,’ even if the parent requested their child’s records.”

A senior Army Green Beret used his inside knowledge of clandestine operations to make more than $400,000 by betting on the timing of Operation Absolute Resolve, the Jan. 3 mission to capture Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, the U.S. Justice Department said Thursday.

Federal prosecutors said Master Sgt. Gannon Ken Van Dyke, 38, was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and was part of the team that planned and executed the mission. He is accused of using his access to classified military information to make wagers on its outcome with Polymarket, a prediction marketplace.

In 2025, Polymarket began offering betting contracts related to whether certain events involving Mr. Maduro and Venezuela would take place. They included predictions of the likelihood that U.S. troops would be in Venezuela by certain dates, whether the now-arrested leader would be taken into custody, and whether President Trump would invoke “war powers” against Caracas.

California Proposition 209, passed in 1995, amended the California Constitution to provide, among other things, to prohibit race and sex discrimination in all public employment, education, and contracting:

SEC. 31. (a) The state shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting. [emphasis added]

This powerful nondiscrimination provision effectively banned affirmative action in most public spheres. Prop 209 has come under attack many times, including  a 2020 attempt at repeal that was rejected by voters 57%-43%.

There is a new stealth attack. Legislation (ACA0-7) has passed the California Assembly and is under consideration by the California Senate that would put forward to voters a ballot initiative that would drastically scale back the protections of Proposition 209, but it’s a stealth attack because the legislation and proposed constitutional changes are subtle but deadly for civil rights.
