President Joe Biden’s aggressive climate regulations targeting fossil-fuel-fired power plants will create widespread electric grid instability and lead to mass blackouts impacting millions of Americans, according to a recent study commissioned by North Dakota’s state government.

The research, conducted in May by the firm Always On Energy Research, concluded that the Environmental Protection Agency’s recently finalized regulations are not technologically feasible and will foreseeably lead to the retirement of coal power generation units. Intermittent and weather-dependent green energy sources, such as wind and solar, will replace such retired generators, leading to unreliable conditions, the study found.

The study largely echoes concerns that have been voiced by the U.S. grid watchdog, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation; regional grid operators; and power utility companies. Four regional grid operators that oversee the infrastructure supplying power for 154 million Americans warned after the EPA regulations were first proposed last year that grid reliability would “dwindle to concerning levels” under the regulations. The Edison Electric Institute, the lead industry group representing U.S. electric companies, in late May joined a lawsuit that challenged the EPA’s finalized regulations.

“Biden’s Green Agenda is shutting down baseload power and is rapidly destabilizing our electrical grid. Electricity costs are up 30% under Biden already,” North Dakota governor Doug Burgum (R.) told the Washington Free Beacon in a statement. “Prices will continue to skyrocket if he’s re-elected as real power demand increases dramatically for the first time in decades—for chip manufacturing and new foundational industries like AI.”

Burgum, a member of the North Dakota Industrial Commission, which commissioned the study, added that Biden’s regulatory regime will reduce power supplies, leading to “higher prices AND less reliability.”

In April, the EPA finalized the first part of a multi-pronged effort to curb greenhouse gas emissions produced by the nation’s power sector. The regulations require existing coal plants to slash their carbon footprint 90 percent by 2032, which could force the vast majority of such plants across the country to shutter over the next two decades. They further require significant emissions reductions for new natural-gas-fired power plants that operate more than 20 percent of the time.

The finalized regulations are poised to have a particularly acute impact in Midwestern states such as North Dakota, where coal-fired power plants produce more than half of all electricity generated and where the four largest power plants are all coal-fired. North Dakota is also the sixth-largest coal-producing state in the country.

According to Always On Energy Research, the rules’ economic consequences include increasing the cost of compliance for coal plant operators, reducing competitiveness with alternative power sources, expediting the rate of coal retirements, resulting in higher electricity prices, and causing supply chain issues for industries reliant on coal.

“The Finalized Rule will increase costs, which, compounded with inflation, will negatively impact the affordability of electric and gas services, resulting in a disproportionate effect on low-income citizens,” the study stated. “Given the high rural populations in North Dakota, pricing low-income citizens out of a reliable energy source creates an economic and social justice issue with devasting [sic] impacts on North Dakotans’ lives.”

In addition, under EPA’s plans, coal plants—considered dispatchable power, or power that can quickly be turned on in times of high electricity demand—will largely be replaced by new solar and wind power generators, which are highly dependent on proper wind conditions.

Solar panels, for example, produce just 25 percent and wind turbines produce 34 percent of their listed capacity, according to the Energy Information Administration. Coal and natural gas plants, meanwhile, respectively produce 49 percent and 54 percent of their listed capacity.

Factoring in that disparity, Always On Energy Research concluded the grid across the majority of the Midwest would experience nearly 9 million megawatt hours of unserved load, leading to blackouts costing tens of billions of dollars.

“The EPA power plant rule is exactly the wrong thing to be doing for grid reliability right now,” Paige Lambermont, a research fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, told the Free Beacon. “To be intentionally closing and, essentially, banning the facilities that are keeping the grid functioning while, at the same time, in other ways, encouraging the penetration on the grid of things like wind and solar that are making the grid less reliable is going to have incredibly poor aftereffects.”

Nationwide, natural gas plants generated roughly 43 percent of total electricity produced in 2023 while coal plants generated another 16 percent, according to additional Energy Information Administration data. By comparison, wind power generated 10 percent of total electricity in the United States, and solar produced less than 6 percent.

The EPA is expected to finalize a second batch of regulations cracking down on existing natural gas power plants in the coming months.

Democrats and climate advocates have long targeted the power sector as part of their effort to reduce pollution and fight global warming. According to EPA data, electric power generation in the United States is responsible for 25 percent of total nationwide emissions, only behind the transportation sector, which produces roughly 28 percent of total emissions.

EPA spokeswoman Angela Hackel told the Free Beacon that “over decades EPA regulations like the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards and Good Neighbor Rule have achieved important reductions in pollution from electricity generation while supporting reliability.”

“This rule will do the same,” Hackel said. She added that the EPA is reviewing the North Dakota study.

Anti-Israel protesters at California State University, Los Angeles, barricaded the Student Services building on Wednesday, leaving the school’s president trapped in her office.

A faction of protesters broke off from a campus encampment to demonstrate in front of the university’s Student Services building, ABC 7 reported. They proceeded to pile up numerous objects in front of the building’s entrance, using overturned golf carts, tables, and other pieces of furniture to create a barricade.

The Willis saga began in January when a lawyer for defendant Mike Roman, a former Trump campaign official, filed a motion contending Willis and her office should be disqualified because of her romantic involvement with Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor she had appointed. Her office had paid Wade more than $700,000 in legal fees. The defense motion said Willis was benefiting financially from the case because Wade had paid for their trips to the Caribbean and Napa Valley.

Other defense motions also said Willis should be disqualified for giving highly prejudicial and inappropriate remarks during a church speech on Dr. Martin Luther King weekend.

McAfee determined that while Willis had a lapse in judgment and made bad decisions, her conduct did not amount to a disqualifying conflict of interest. Instead, there was the appearance of a conflict that required either Willis’ or Wade’s removal from the case. That same day, Wade withdrew.

A public school teacher was caught taking a student to an abortion clinic without her parents knowing, according to an investigative report from the New Hampshire Department of Education.

The teacher took the day off, claiming to be sick with food poisoning. The teacher later admitted to the school he or she was not actually sick and “went with a student to a medical appointment,” per the report.

According to the redacted document, the teacher spoke to the student for weeks about her “options,” then brought her to the abortion clinic during school hours to end the life of her unborn child.

School officials later terminated the teacher, according to the report.

Four high-ranking members of the Democrat party were arrested and charged with voter fraud connected to a 2019 Bridgeport, CT Mayoral race. The four Democrats charged are Bridgeport City Councilman Alfredo Castillo and Wanda Geter-Pataky, Vice Chair of the Bridgeport Democratic Party, along with two campaign workers, Nilsa Heredia and Josephine Edmonds. Connecticut state prosecutors also charged Wanda Geter-Pataky with witness tampering.

The four accused were allegedly exploiting the lack of chain of custody in the vote tallying system used to count mail-in ballots. In this case, they were absentee ballots, and the incident happened a year before the 2020 Presidential election that saw more than 60 percent of votes counted allegedly coming from mail-in-ballots. The arrests provide yet more proof that voter fraud is widespread in our system and it needs serious reform (like voter ID and first-day-only voting) to restore voter confidence in the integrity of the system.

Vegans like to pretend that food that humans have been eating for nearly all of human history is somehow bad for you, even though it wasn’t until the 1950s that heart disease became the leading cause of death. Nonetheless, vegans still like to claim that meat is bad for you, even though it’s not. But what makes that claim even more insane is that some even believe that processed, fake vegan meat is not only good for you but better than actual meat. And you don’t have to be a nutritionist to know that there is no way that Frankenstein-like ‘food’ is even remotely comparable to actual food.

A new study has confirmed the very obvious fact that fake vegan meats are bad for you, and even linked to heart disease.

According to the New York Post:

While experts extol the health and environmental benefits of a diet free of animal products, new research suggests that consuming ultra-processed vegan food can increase the risk of heart death.

Ultra-processed foods include packaged goods, drinks, cereals and ready-to-eat products that contain colors, emulsifiers, flavors and other additives. UPFs are typically high in sugar, saturated fat, and salt and devoid of vitamins and fiber.

Researchers found that for every 10% increase in plant-based foods, the risk of death from heart disease fell by 20%.

At a time when war is raging in Ukraine and the Middle East, the U.S. military is busy flaunting its support for LGBT insanity.

The most recent example came earlier this week when Stars and Stripes, a left-wing outlet, revealed that airmen stationed at Osan Air Base in South Korea are authorized to wear a “pride morale patch” on their uniforms this month to celebrate leftists’ made-up “pride month.”

A photograph of the patch published by the outlet shows an LGBT flag encircled by a black ring with the words “Osan+” and “Osan Air Base ROK” on it. Capt. Michelle Chang told Stars and Stripes the patch “represents the advancement of the Air Force’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, dignity, and respect within the mission.”

The patch was devised by Osan Plus, a pro-LGBT organization created at the base in October, according to the outlet. Tech. Sgt. Brittany Ortega, the group’s president, said getting the patch approved was easy and added that “our leadership really, really just wants to promote the acceptance of LGBTQ service members and their families.”

This is happening in so many red states now. People have finally caught on to what DEI is really about and why it is harmful.

Utah universities dismantle DEI to comply with state law

Two public universities in Utah, Weber State University and the University of Utah, are taking steps to end Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs and positions.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox signed a bill into law, HB 261, on Jan. 30 that forbids DEI training and other DEI initiatives in state public colleges and universities, as well as in Utah’s state government.

Since the signing of the legislation into law, at least one Utah school has renamed its DEI department in an attempt to evade the ban.

St. Cloud State University finalizes plan to cut back on degrees, minors amidst budget problems

Nearly one in three degree programs at St. Cloud State University will get the ax, due to budgetary problems.

Roughly 60 percent of minors are also getting the boot at the public university, according to a recent announcement.

“In a presentation to the campus community on Tuesday, SCSU Acting President Larry Lee confirmed the university will suspend 42 degree programs and 50 minor programs,” KARE 11 reported yesterday.

The news outlet reported that other cuts were made last year as well.

In a historic decision, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has achieved a significant victory against the Biden administration’s Department of Education (DOE). Paxton successfully halted the DOE’s attempts to implement radical “transgender” policies in Texas educational institutions.

This action effectively opposes the administration’s effort to redefine Title IX to include “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” as protected classes, which is seen as a violation of both state and federal laws.

Student council members at a Washington state high school were accused of promoting white supremacy after proposing a mural of the school’s unofficial mascot, the hammer-wielding Norse god Thor, be painted as their senior gift.

The school district’s diversity, equity, and inclusion office raised concerns that the painting represents white supremacy and would need to be accompanied by women and people of color to meet the Evergreen Public School district’s racial and gender equity standards, KTTH reports. Klarissa Hightower is the Director of Equity and Inclusion at Evergreen Public Schools.

Student councilors at Mountain View High School in Vancouver proposed the artwork because their school’s mascot is The Thunders, and the name “Thor” translates to “thunder.” There is already a statue of Thor at the school’s main entrance, which added further confusion among the student body government.

Will “Lia” Thomas, the male swimmer who thinks he’s a woman, will not be able to rob women of awards in the Olympics.

In January, Townhall reported how Thomas was engaged in a “secret” legal battle in hopes of overturning a rule established by World Aquatics prohibiting males who think they’re “transgender” from competing against women.

This week, the Associated Press broke that Thomas lost the legal challenge.

Reportedly, the Court of Arbitration for Sport three-judge panel dismissed Thomas’ request or arbitration with the World Aquatics governing body (via AP):

World Aquatics banned transgender women who have been through male puberty from competing in women’s races. It also created an “open” category for which transgender athletes would be eligible.

Thomas had asked the sports court in Switzerland to overturn the rules approved in 2022 that she said were invalid, unlawful and discriminatory.

A federal appeals court recently held that an employer’s health insurance plan wrongly excluded coverage for gender-affirming care in violation of federal civil rights law – offering a warning to employers across the country when it comes to supporting transgender workers. The exclusion drew a line between gender-affirming surgery and other operations and intentionally carved out an exclusion based on one’s transgender status, which the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals found violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. What do employers and benefit plans need to know about the May 13 decision?

During a virtual town hall event last week, Paula Collins, who is challenging Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., suggested that supporters of former President Trump be sent to “re-education camps,” according to audio obtained by the Post Millenial.

Collins, a marijuana tax attorney, argued that even if a majority of Democrats are elected to Congress in November, there will still be a need for re-education camps to “put[] it all back together again” after “this MAGA nightmare.”

The uncontested Democrat nominee for NY-21 said, “Even if we were to have a resounding blue wave come through, as many of us would like, putting it all back together again after we’ve gone through this MAGA nightmare and re-educating, basically — that sounds like a, rather, a re-education camp.” She told voters on the call they will need to find “another way to phrase” the concept of “re-education camps” with the general public.

If you read nothing but posts from conservative influencers on X, you’d be convinced that Donald Trump has already won the 2024 election.

The source of this sensationalized optimism comes from public polling data, which shows the former president with leads in key battleground states he needs to win this November. Some surveys also seemingly indicate that traditionally “blue states” like Virginia and Minnesota are in play.

With numbers like these and Biden’s approval rating sinking faster than Rachel Levine in a swimming pool, there’s no way Trump can lose, or so the conventional thinking goes.

While it’s certainly possible the polls are accurate, the outcome of recent elections should give conservatives reason to pump the brakes on celebrating before any ballots have been cast. Case in point: A special election held in Ohio’s 6th Congressional District on Tuesday.

The matchup between Democrat Michael Kripchak and Republican Michael Rulli wasn’t expected to be a close race. According to the Associated Press, former GOP Rep. Bill Johnson — who represented the district until his resignation earlier this year — “won his last four elections by more than 30 percentage points.” Trump similarly won the district by roughly 30 points during the 2020 contest.

While Rulli defeated Kripchak in Tuesday’s matchup and expanded Republicans’ thin House majority, the election was much closer than originally predicted. Preliminary results indicate Rulli won the race by 9.4 points — a more than 20-point shift in Democrats favor.

In a razor-thin vote, the House has moved to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in criminal contempt of Congress, marking a dramatic escalation in tensions between congressional Republicans and the Justice Department. With a final tally of 208-207, the decision will place Garland among the few attorneys general in U.S. history to face such a sanction.

The core issue centers around the Justice Department’s reluctance to release audio tapes concerning Joe Biden’s dealings with classified documents. Spearheaded by Jim Jordan (R-OH) and James Comer (R-KY), Republicans argue that this refusal to comply fully with a congressional subpoena merits the contempt designation.

The subpoena is part of an ongoing push to uncover the interview audio from special counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into whether any crimes were committed by Biden regarding his handling of classified materials. Despite Hur concluding his investigation without charging Biden, GOP lawmakers are pressing forward, intensifying their critique of the Justice Department’s actions under Garland’s leadership.

The White House hasn’t ruled out the possibility that President Joe Biden may commute Hunter Biden’s upcoming federal sentence following his conviction on gun-related charges.

Hunter Biden’s sentencing date has not yet been scheduled. In the federal system, it’s common for there to be a two to three-month delay between conviction and sentencing.

“As we all know, the sentencing hasn’t even been scheduled yet,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Wednesday.

Joe Biden told ABC News last week that he would NOT pardon his son.

Rep. Michael Cloud, R-Texas, and Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, have introduced the Dismantle DEI Act.

The bill, S. 4516, is a necessary and important bill that would largely put an end to the racist policies being implemented throughout the federal government by the Biden administration under the rubric of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

DEI policies are typically overtly racist and sexist in that they mandate that government or businesses establish quotas or discriminate based on sex, skin color, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

DEI defines diversity entirely in terms of immutable characteristics, such as race, ethnicity, or sex instead of the myriad other kinds of diversity, such as achievement, expertise, experience, approach to business or business philosophy, educational background, socioeconomic background, ethical or political views, integrity, geographic location, and so on.

Morally, DEI represents a marked step backward. It is rejection of the principle that people should be judged on the content of their character and their individual achievement, rather than their sex, race, national origin, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

The European Parliament held their elections from June 6 to June 9, 2024 resulting in a shift in the balance of power. It appears that the European Parliament will likely have more of a  conservative focus over the next few years.

In response to the European election results and the shift in european politics, French President, Emmanuel Macron, on June 10 called a snap election with his hope of catching conservative political parties off-guard. The election will be on June 29 – 30 and the second tier on July 6 – 7.

For those who oppose euthanasia, France’s euthanasia proposal has technically died with the snap election. After the election the euthanasia proposal will need to be re-introduced. If Macron loses support, it is unlikely that the euthanasia proposal will immediately return.

A similar situation exists in the UK where Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called a snap election for July 4. The difference is that Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, is leading in the polls and Starmer has promised that if elected his party would legalize assisted suicide.

Joe Biden, the Cynic in Chief, has been desperate to do something about the massive influx of illegal aliens that he invited to the United States when he took office in 2021.

I’m not going to say it was the greatest mistake of any president in American history. After all, he’s still got seven months to go before he’s gone. But sending out an invitation to millions of desperate, hungry, endangered people to come ahead and be welcome is going to be hard to top.

So when Biden stood before the American people a little more than a week ago and promised he would close the border if illegal entries exceeded 2,500 asylum seekers a day for seven days in a row, we all thought, “Show me, Mr. President. You’ve got zero credibility on this issue.”

Biden still doesn’t have any credibility.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) blasted Democrats’ recent attempts to undermine the Supreme Court.

Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito have come under concentrated attack from Democrats in recent years, with such scrutiny intensifying after the overturning of Roe v. Wade in June 2022. In an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, McConnell not only condemned the undermining of the court but connected it to a wider pattern of Democrats attempting to subvert democracy, an accusation more commonly leveled by Democrats against Republicans.

“The Constitution vests each branch of the federal government with an exclusive power, responsive to the people in elections,” he wrote. “In each branch, liberals seek to remove that power from democratic accountability and vest it in unelected bureaucrats. This practice might come from a good-faith trust in ‘experts,’ or a sincere belief that sound policy is too valuable to risk in elections. But at its core, it is a rejection of democratic accountability in favor of the administrative state.”

A former Washington Post reporter revealed that he passed on writing a story about the upside-down U.S. flag hanging outside of Justice Samuel Alito’s home in 2021 and said he had never heard that the symbol was associated with the so-called “Stop the Steal” movement.

Speaking to Post columnist Erik Wemple, retired WaPo Supreme Court reporter Robert Barnes said he got an anonymous tip about the flag, saw the flag flying at the Alitos’ home on Jan. 6, 2021, and spoke with the Alitos about why it was upside down. He explained why he ultimately chose not to report on it.

“We determined that it wasn’t the justice that flew the flag upside down and we determined it wasn’t a protest about the election or something else on the part of Mrs. Alito,” Barnes told Wemple. Barnes said he made the determination based on Martha-Ann Alito’s “actions when I saw her and what others in the neighborhood had told me.”
