The Department of Justice announced on Tuesday that a Pakistani national has been charged in connection with a plot to assassinate a politician or US government official on US soil.

Asif Merchant, also known as Asif Raza Merchant, 46, arrived in the US in April of 2024 after spending some time in Iran. When he arrived in the US, he contacted a person who he believed could assist him in the plot, with that person reporting Merchant to law enforcement and becoming a confidential source (CS).

While the Department of Justice press release did not name the potential targets of the plot, a US official briefed on the matter told CNN that FBI investigators believed 2024 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump and other current and former US officials were the intended targets.

The DOJ stated that Merchant explained the assassination plot to the CS in a New York meeting, telling the CS “that the opportunity he had for the CS was not a one-time opportunity and would be ongoing.” Merchant made a “finger gun” gesture with his hand, “indicating that the opportunity was related to a killing.”

Columbia University is considering taking harsher measures against the pro-Hamas crowd on campus as classes are set to begin again in the fall.

University President Minouche Shafik has proposed beefing up security with more officers who are granted arrest powers to deploy against rowdy protesters supposedly advocating for the Palestinians, according to a Wall Street Journal exclusive. We reported earlier that the pro-Hamas crowd is already gearing up for another round of protests at campuses across the country.

In a proposal currently under discussion among administrators, the school would add “peace officers” to its security personnel, according to people briefed on the proposal. Columbia currently has about 290 campus security personnel.

The people say it is still in early stages but could lead to peace officers with the authority to arrest and physically contact a student; current campus officers can do neither except under exceptional circumstances including self-defense. The cost, quantity of officers and even uniforms are under debate, as is whether Shafik needs approval from faculty or the university’s board.

US personnel have been injured in a suspected rocket attack against Al Asad airbase in Iraq, according to three US officials who spoke to Reuters. The outlet reported that several US personnel were injured during the attack.

The outlet reported that the sources were citing preliminary information about the attack which could change. Security sources told the outlet that two Katyusha rockets were fired at the base in western Iraq, on Monday.

“Base personnel are conducting a post-attack damage assessment,” one of the officials commented. The attack comes as concerns over tensions in the region have mounted with the killings of Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist group leaders.

Human Events senior editor Jack Posobiec reported that five to six Americans were injured and that there were several getting surgery.

How Venezuela’s communist government is using tech surveillance to cling to power

Protests and upheaval have roiled Venezuela following a contested election on July 28. Incumbent leader Nicolas Maduro claims victory by a margin of 51% to 44%, while his opponent leader, Edmundo Gonzalez, says his coalition garnered 66% of the vote. It’s worth noting that Gonzalez was 25 points up in polls through most of July.

The United States has officially recognized Gonzalez as the victor, joining a chorus of international criticism of the election’s lack of transparency.

Reports detail at least 15 protesters killed so far by Venezuelan authorities, including a teenager who stopped to watch the protests on the way back from a party. There have been at least 39 injuries reported, and over 1,000 protesters have been arrested.

The internet has led to significant democratization in many ways simultaneously, as it has allowed the rise of technocracy and autocratic governments to clamp down even farther on popular discontent they dislike.

Prior to the election, Maduro emphasized there would be a “bloodbath” if he didn’t win this time around. He has the wherewithal to make good on his threat, given that he’s in charge of the nation’s army, cops, courts, and most of its lethal paramilitary gangs. Even leftist-led Brazil and Colombia have expressed concerns over the situation and the transparency of Venezuela’s July 28 election, urging Maduro to reveal the vote tallies that prove his claims publicly.

The New York State Supreme Court has knocked down an effort by New York City Mayor Eric Adams to ban buses from dropping off illegal aliens in the Big Apple.

The Mayor had filed for a preliminary injunction banning Texas Gov. Greg Abbott from sending busloads of illegals to New York City. Bu the New York Civil Liberties Union argued that his idea was illegal and his ban should be vacated. Ultimately, the state’s highest court agreed with the activists and denied Adams his bus ban.

As Jazz Shaw noted:

The mayor’s lawsuit had targeted 17 bus companies. He demanded that they either stop dropping off migrants in the city or pay the city a staggering sum of $700 million to pay for their shelter, food, and health care. The bus companies refused and the ACLU took up their cause, eventually emerging victorious.

Without even diving into the underlying constitutional questions, the rules that the mayor was attempting to impose simply sounded crazy from the beginning. The bus companies work in the transportation sector and they carry people from point A to point B. That’s the entire reason they exist. People are free to travel around the country, including interstate travel. Someone pays for a ticket (in this case Governor Abbott) and the person is free to board the bus. Adams wasn’t forbidding all travel from Texas. He was specifically trying to target the migrants. If the bus companies started trying to pick and choose who they transport, they would be the ones getting sued by the passengers.

Then there is the basis for Adams’ claim that the bus companies needed to pay for the cost of the migrants. Adams accused the companies of “violating New York’s Social Services Law by dropping off thousands of people without providing a means of support.” That is also a bizarre and unsupportable accusation. Millions of people ride buses every day and it is not the bus line’s obligation to check their financial status before they board provided they have enough money for a ticket. If Greyhound picks up a homeless citizen in Atlanta (who has a ticket) and drops them off in Manhattan, it isn’t the bus line’s obligation to find them a place to stay.

Some schools in the United States have begun introducing various forms of “meditation” in their classes, including such techniques as yoga, in an alleged effort to help students improve their mental health.

As reported by ABC News, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has endorsed such tactics being used in schools as a means of combating the lingering effects of the Chinese Coronavirus pandemic, which disproportionately affected schools and significantly stunted childrens’ growth and education across the country.

“We know that our teenagers and adolescents have really strained in their mental health,” said CDC Director Mandy Cohen. “There are real skills that we can give our teens to make sure that they are coping with some big emotions.”

The CDC claims that, in 2023, over one-third of all American students reported feeling “persistent sadness” and “hopelessness” in the aftermath of the COVID pandemic lockdowns and the subsequent disastrous impact on education. As such, the agency has recommended the implementation of “mindfulness practices” in order to deal with students’ emotional states.

With its July 22 announcement that it is disbursing $4.3 billion in taxpayer-funded grants for an assortment of climate projects around the country, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) secured the loot for grateful recipients before President Joe Biden leaves office in January.

The money will go to 25 projects across 30 states (some will cross state borders) and will target greenhouse gas emissions from “transportation, electric power, commercial and residential buildings, industry, agriculture/natural and working lands, and waste and materials management,” the EPA said in a press release. Funds for the grants were provided from the Climate Pollution Reduction Grants Program anchored in the 2022 misnamed Inflation Reduction Act, the Biden administration’s landmark climate law.

Earlier in the month, the Biden Energy Department announced it was awarding $1.7 billion to 11 factories to help finance the manufacture of electric vehicles and their components.

“President Biden understands that America needs a strong EPA,” agency Administrator Michael Regan told reporters, noting that the administration “has made the largest climate investment in history, providing billions of dollars to state, local, and tribal governments to tackle climate change with the urgency it demands,” The Washington Times reported.

Boeing’s spacecraft may require a rescue from Elon Musk’s SpaceX program but has yet to publicly ask for help, reports have stated.

Aerospace and defense corporation Boeing launched its Starliner spacecraft in early June 2024 with the intention of having the craft and crew travel to the International Space Station and return within two weeks. It has now been eight weeks since the vessel was launched.

At the time of the launch, NASA officials reportedly said that crew members Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams could come back to Earth as soon as June 14, just eight days after launch.

By the time it was revealed that the attacker was not a migrant but a 17-year-old born in Wales to Rwandan parents, the backlash to the backlash had begun. While far-left PM Keir Starmer was quick to the anti-migration protests that occurred, he was nowhere to be found as roving bands of Islamists took to the streets to begin beating people for supposed wrong-think regarding immigration.

The same police who were quick to arrest “far-right” protesters, even pulling people out of their homes for online speech, were suddenly unwilling to lift a finger against the “Muslim Defense League” as its members rampaged. The two-tiered system of justice in the UK was laid bare.

As the livestream was ending, Ross brought Trump out of the West Palm Beach mansion to unveil the Cybertruck to Trump.

As the two were walking out of the mansion, Ross asked him what he thought about the electronic truck. “I think it’s incredible,” Trump told Ross as the two were looking at the vehicle. The two then were able to do Trump’s iconic dance in front of the gifted truck.

The stream at one point broke over 400,000 live viewers and Ross told Trump that they had hit over one million total for the live interview stream. During the course of the interview, Trump was asked about his thoughts on different political figures in the world.

The globalist World Health Organization (WHO) is calling on the governments of sovereign nations to begin preparing for mass mRNA vaccinations to supposedly tackle “bird flu.”

Just as the Democrats are preparing to nominate a dud candidate for the November presidential election, the unelected WHO has announced a new project to accelerate the development of mRNA vaccines for an apparently looming bird flu “pandemic.”

The WHO, the United Nations’ “health” agency, argues that governments must prepare now for “when the next pandemic arrives.”

The vaccination campaign aims to develop mRNA injections for the H5N1 strain, according to the WHO.

The project will be led by the Argentinian company Sinergium Biotech.

Sinergium will establish a “proof of concept” with preclinical models, according to the WHO.

(LifeSiteNews) — A team of conservative attorneys is making another attempt to force the U.S. Supreme Court to reconsider its 2015 decision to force same-sex “marriage” on the country, starting with a brief to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals on behalf of former Rowan County, Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis.

After the Supreme Court’s controversial Obergefell v. Hodges ruling that forced all 50 states to recognize unions between members of the same sex as marriages, Davis declared that she would cease issuing marriage licenses, arguing that her required signature on the documents would constitute a personal endorsement of homosexual unions that violated her Christian beliefs. 

Her resistance to the new normal has persisted for years despite public pressure from lawsuits, judges, and politicians alike. Last year, she was ordered to pay $100,000 to a same-sex couple to whom she refused to issue a marriage license on top of damages awarded to other plaintiffs. The nonprofit Liberty Counsel vowed to appeal on her behalf.

This May, Liberty Counsel filed its notice of appeal with the Sixth Circuit, arguing Davis was not liable for damages to anyone and touting the case’s “potential to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges and extend the same religious freedom protections beyond Kentucky to the entire nation,” calling the move the beginning of a “march to the Supreme Court.”
