A Washington, D.C., judge with a history of “woke” activism decided there was no need to incarcerate an 18-year-old man who fired an AR-15 more than a dozen times at an SUV full of people fleeing through a busy neighborhood.

The shooting took place in the 1700 block of Independence Ave SE, a predominantly black neighborhood.

Despite the left waging war on guns and so-called “gun violence,” Superior Court Judge Lloyd U. Nolan, Jr. decided Amonte Moody wasn’t a threat to the black community he had just sprayed with 26 rounds and summarily released him.

I’m done hearing the left whine about how “gun violence disproportionately affects the black community” until judges like Nolan and others stop letting violent perps walk out of court and back into the black neighborhoods they terrorize.

Conversely though unrelated, an UNARMED pro-life protestor was just sent to prison for 57 months for blocking the entrance to an abortion clinic in Washington, D.C., back in 2020.

Lauren Handy was handed a four-year, nine-month prison sentence Monday, minus nine months for time served, and is looking at a solid four years in prison.

REMINDER-O-RAMA! The man who fired 26 rounds in a busy D.C. neighborhood was granted house arrest and was released. Handy spent nine months in jail after being arrested at the abortion clinic.

Handy and her friends chained themselves together in front of the entrance to an abortion clinic where they sang hymns and prayed. None were armed when arrested and no shots had been fired.

On Tuesday, Handy’s friend John Hinshaw, 69, was given a 21-month sentence, minus nine months for time served. He will go away for one year.

A handful of other pro-lifers arrested with Handy and Hinshaw have yet to be sentenced. One is facing 11 years behind bars.

What Have We Learned?

We know that at least two peaceful pro-lifers spent nine months in prison after being arrested for protesting, praying, and singing in front of the doors of an abortion clinic, while the same city released a gunman who sprayed 26 shots in a busy, black neighborhood. The gunman is black, and he fired indiscriminately in a black community. We have also learned black kids are hit by more stray bullets than any other group.

The two pro-lifers are white and were protesting against abortion in a predominantly black city. Statistics show black women have more abortions than any other ethnic group. Thus, two white people attempting to save the lives of unborn children — who were likely black — got jail time after they were arrested, while a man who might have killed black people is sitting at home today.

Irony, table for two. Irony?

FACT-O-RAMA! None of the J6 prisoners who are still sitting in the D.C. gulag are accused of firing weapons.

The writing is on the wall. Washington, D.C., is a Marxist toilet and should be avoided by conservatives who don’t want to end up in jail, even for attempting to save the lives of unborn black children.

According to records released May 7 by Blacklock’s Reporter, the Department of National Defence has paid consultants and contractors $9,510,247 to promote “equity and inclusion” within the military.

“It is clear a lack of diversity in the Canadian Armed Forces is just one of the issues confronting this government,” a 2021 briefing note claimed. “National Defence is committed to building an inclusive and modern defence team that reflects Canada’s diversity, values and culture.”

The spending was disclosed in the House of Commons in response to Conservative MP Cheryl Gallant’s question: “What is the total value of contracts relating to diversity, equity and inclusion services in the Department of National Defence since 2015?”

This year’s Pride Month is shaping up to be a much more humble affair at Target.

In an extremely gratifying twist, the company that bragged its transgender line is “great for our brand” has changed its mind after a yearlong stock market bruising. It’s the latest evidence that the wildfire of consumer activism is not only spreading but forcing the kind of change most people never thought possible.

If you asked conservatives two years ago, stopping the woke at major brands would’ve been a victory. But reversing the woke? That’s a tectonic shift in the power structure of Big Business. For once, CEOs—who for years have thrown their radical agenda in the face of shoppers—are feeling enough pain in their profit margins to stop and ask if appeasing the far Left is worth it.

Target CEO Brian Cornell, who flaunted the stores’ chest binders and tucking swimming suits for kids as “progress,” finally counted the cost of his social extremism late last summer. By the end of a dismal August, he didn’t apologize, but he did admit that it was time for some soul-searching. As his first and second quarter earnings tanked, he hinted at changes ahead. “As we navigate an ever-changing operating and social environment, we’re applying what we’ve learned to ensure we’re staying close to our guests and their expectations of Target.”

The last time we reported on Rutgers University, its president had agreed to eight of the ten demands given to him by the pro-Hamas mob that forced the school to cancel final exams when they occupied Voorhees Mall.

Ultimately, Rutgers did not agree to divest from companies with ties to Israel or sever its relationship with Tel Aviv University.

The move was spineless, and both New Jersey lawmakers and students at the institution are unhappy with the deal.

The agreement, which is contingent upon no more disruptions or protests breaking out on campus, is facing criticism from some lawmakers, including New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, who said Tuesday the university’s approach to hearing demands from protesters differed from how it handled Jewish student complaints on antisemitism.

For the past nine months, our client Lauren Handy has been languishing in jail awaiting her formal sentencing hearing…

Lauren was put on trial by the Biden Department of Justice in August 2023 and convicted of violating the FACE (Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances) Act.

The Biden DOJ tacked on charges of engaging in a felony “Conspiracy Against Rights” to make sure she would face a potential sentence of up to 11 years… All for courageously and peaceably standing her ground to protect life.

A federal jury in heavily pro-abortion Washington, D.C. found her guilty. What’s more, she was wrongly branded “violent felon,” and the DOJ unjustly locked her up immediately after she was convicted.

Darren Woods, CEO and Chairman of ExxonMobil, faces potential opposition to his re-election to the corporation’s board by Calpers – America’s largest public pension program – due to Exxon’s litigation against two environmentally conscious investors: Arjuna Capital and Follow This. Exxon is seeking to block a resolution calling for stricter measures in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, thereby contradicting global efforts to combat climate change.

Calpers, which represents numerous state and local public employees, aligns its investments with an increasingly eco-conscious direction. It has been a significant player in promoting ethical investment strategies, with investment decisions that hold substantial weight due to its massive fund.

As Exxon’s approach to fossil fuels and climate change comes under increased scrutiny, this conflict could potentially mark a turning point. Exxon’s policies must shift toward more environmentally friendly practices to prevent negative consequences, which could affect company’s market standing.

In December 2022, Congress passed the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), a pro-life bill that aimed to make the workplace more accessible to pregnant women by requiring employers to provide accommodations to pregnant workers under The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This bill was implemented at the end of June 2023.However, the Biden administration is manipulating the bill’s language to require that employers provide accommodations for abortion.

The PWFA requires employers to provide “reasonable accommodations to a worker’s known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, unless the accommodation will cause the employer an undue hardship.” However, the bill does not define what is considered a “reasonable accommodation,” or what is considered a “related medical condition.”

Although the measure was meant to help and support pregnant women, Biden officials are manipulating it to promote abortion.

A recent survey by the NASUWT teaching union found that four in ten teachers had encountered violence or physical abuse from pupils over the past 12 months and almost all of them said the problem was getting worse.

Teachers in Aberdeen also recently urged the local council to intervene over claims that some schools had become “completely lawless”, with half saying violent pupil behaviour had become a daily occurrence.

Edinburgh, Scotland’s second-largest local authority, and Shetland were the two councils yet to provide figures about homeschooling following Freedom of Information requests.

The figures show that in Aberdeenshire the number of homeschooled pupils increased from 15 to 60 over two years.

Arizona may have no pause in abortions, at least through 15 weeks of pregnancy.

And it depends on when lawmakers finally go home this year.

In an order Monday, the Arizona Supreme Court agreed to give Attorney General Kris Mayes an extra 90 days to decide whether she wants to seek U.S. Supreme Court review of its order reinstating the state’s 1864 abortion law. That statute outlaws the procedure except to save the life of the mother.

On Friday, the Biden White House issued a proclamation declaring this week, May 13-May 18, National Women’s Health Week.

“Ironically, Joe Biden’s push for unlimited abortion during National Women’s Health Week follows Mother’s Day when we honor moms,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Tragically, every abortion takes the life of a preborn child and places a woman at risk of death or injury.”

Hemorrhaging, uterine perforation, and incomplete abortions are abortion complications that can cause the death of a healthy young woman. In 2012, Tonya Reaves lost her life after hemorrhaging from a second-trimester abortion performed at a Planned Parenthood facility. In 2016, Cree Erwin-Sheppard died from complications following an aspiration abortion performed at a Planned Parenthood facility.

While The Walt Disney Company has a lot on its plate this summer in terms of entertainment, few projects are as exciting or as highly anticipated as Inside Out 2. Officially releasing on June 14, 2024, Inside Out 2 is the direct sequel to the original and iconic 2015 film, which allowed audiences to watch as Riley, the franchise’s main character, grew up and dealt with her emotions.

However, in Inside Out 2, Riley is going through puberty, meaning that several new emotions have been thrown into the mix. Inside Out 2 features a star-studded cast, with Maya Hawke, Paul Walter Hauser, Ayo Edebiri, and Adèle Exarchopoulos all playing new emotions like anxiety and embarrassment.

This list of new emotions will join the now-iconic cast featured in the first film, with Amy Poehler reprising her role as Joy, Phyllis Smith returning as Sadness, and Lewis Black returning for Anger.

A top government climate scientist has called for a major “culling of the human population” in order to fight “global warming.”

Professor Bill McGuire argues that a “pandemic with a very high fatality rate” is required to wipe out a large portion of the human race.

According to McGuire, a mass depopulation event is “the only realistic way” to “avoid a catastrophic climate breakdown.”

McGuire, a Professor of Geophysical & Climate Hazards at University College London (UCL), said the quiet part out loud in a post on X on Sunday.

Society now glorifies mental illness to the point that every feeling, no matter how incomprehensible, must be “affirmed.” Thus, “rage rituals” are supposedly a thing and women are “paying big money to scream and smash sticks in the woods,” according to USA Today.

It doesn’t even take one to go past the subheadline to figure out there are many problems with this. Because who would pay to throw temper tantrums in the woods? Anyone can do that for free and this is literally the dumbest thing ever.

According to USA Today:

Rage rituals have garnered attention on TikTok, where they’ve resonated, particularly with women. In comments, women describe how moving it is to see other women embody their anger − an emotion experts say society often discourages women from expressing.

“There’s no place where you can see women be able to be angry like that and it not be condemned,” Helmus says. ” ‘She’s just hormonal. She’s just unhinged. She’s just crazy. She’s just on her period. She’s just, whatever.’ This was a place where you were, probably for the first time in a really, really long time, if ever, able to scream out loud things about how you felt.”

“Beijing needs to systematically plan its population policy and increase social support for childbearing to alleviate the financial burdens associated with parenthood and children’s education,” said Vice-Premier Liu Guozhong.

The high-level conclave underscores the intensity of focus China has placed on looming demographic challenges as the country – historically reliant on a large labour force to fuel economic growth – attempts to halt a precipitous slide in birth rates.

A total of 9.02 million babies were born in 2023, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics in January – the lowest figure since the founding of the country in 1949.

In the same year, the fertility rate in China – the number of children a woman can be expected to have in her lifetime – plunged from 2.6 births in the late 1980s to 1.19, according to data from the United Nations.

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (LifeSiteNews) — Florida appears poised to expand its existing pro-life legislation allowing women to safely and legally surrender their newborns if they cannot care for them. The move to expand the state’s legislation comes as Florida’s law banning abortion for unborn babies with a detectable heartbeat took effect earlier this month.

Lawmakers in the Sunshine State approved the bill dealing with Florida’s “safe haven” law during the 2024 legislative session. The bill, which cleared both the House and the Senate unanimously, would widen the legal window in which a mother can lawfully surrender her newborn from seven to 30 days, according to Politico. It would also allow emergency responders to coordinate with a mother to arrange a convenient drop-off location for the child in case the mother lacks adequate transportation.

Israel battled Hamas in Gaza on Monday, including in far-southern Rafah, despite U.S. warnings against a full-scale invasion of the crowded city and of the threat from post-war anarchy or insurgency.

Clashes also raged in northern and central Gaza as Israel marked a sombre Memorial Day, followed by Independence Day from Monday night, more than seven months into the war sparked by Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel.

Israelis marked a moment’s silence and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that “our war of independence is not over yet. It continues even today… We are determined to win this struggle.”

Children Deserve Uniform Standards in Homeschooling

With few states tracking who is being homeschooled and what they are learning, an untold number of U.S. children are at risk of a poor education or even abuse

The number of children being educated at home has been growing for the past few decades. No one knows by how much, and that is part of the problem. Homeschooling is barely tracked or regulated in the U.S. But children deserve a safe and robust education, whether they attend a traditional school or are educated at home.

The protests in the summer of 2020 after George Floyd’s death in police custody and today’s antisemitic, pro-Palestine protests on college campuses are rooted in the same ideology of Marxism, Katharine Gorka says.

Marxism preaches that the world “is divided between oppressor and oppressed,” says Gorka, co-author with Heritage Foundation scholar Mike Gonzalez of the new book “NextGen Marxism: What It Is and How to Combat It.” (Heritage launched The Daily Signal in 20014.)

German-born philosopher Karl Marx believed that the oppressors were the business owners and the oppressed were the workers. But Gorka says that Marxism today, or “NextGen Marxism,” holds that the “oppressors are white, Americans, Israelis, [but] some Asians … kind of the successful.”

The board at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill voted to cut funding from diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and instead divert the funds to increase public safety.

If approved by the full board, the decision would move $2.3 million to help police the campus.

“It’s important to consider the needs of all 30,000 students, not just the 100 or so that may want to disrupt the university’s operations,” said budget committee vice-chair Marty Kotis. “It takes away resources for others.”

‘I don’t think it gives a return on investment to taxpayers.’

He also said that the funds needed to be funneled to police in order to provide enough security to protect students and faculty.

“They do not have all the tools they need right now to keep this campus safe from a larger threat,” Kotis said about the police.

A woman at the Central California Facility for Women says she witnessed the immediate aftermath of a jailhouse rape by a transgender inmate.

Mimi Le provided a sworn declaration to lawyers with the Women’s Liberation Front, which will be included in the organization’s case against California, according to evidence from the filing obtained by Reduxx.

Le reportedly said she was one of many inmates who saw events involving what was described as a “sexual assault” committed by a man who identifies as a woman and was therefore locked up in a women’s prison.

On May 19, a female inmate was taken to a medical-administrative building after other female inmates reported to staff that she had been raped, Le explained, adding that she found the woman to be “barely conscious.”

The 21 young plaintiffs leading the most closely watched US climate lawsuit of the last decade face an uncertain legal future, thanks to a federal government victory that threatens to end the case for now.

Judges from the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit quashed the case on May 1, accepting a February mandamus bid from the Justice Department asking for the panel to dismiss the lawsuit.

The decision compels Judge Ann Aiken of the US District Court for the District of Oregon to toss the case, which she had resurrected last year under an amended complaint that raised the possibility the young people would make it to trial.

The move to permanently defeat the case is “tragic and unjust,” and the US should come to agreement at the settlement table instead, according to Julia Olson, Our Children’s Trust chief legal counsel and an attorney in Juliana v. US.

Advocacy groups say schools must do more to protect staff from antisemitism

A Jewish administrator has a new home at a Catholic college after she says a “hate-filled” backlash drove her from job at Clark University

Mary Jane Rein recently resigned as executive director of the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the Massachusetts college, citing “unruly and hate-filled” backlash to her Jewish advocacy work and a lack of support from Clark’s administrators.

Now, she works at Assumption College, a Catholic institution, where she said she feels more welcome.

A Jewish advocacy organization predicted more colleges will lose valued scholars like Rein unless they do more to stop antisemitism.

Over the weekend, a Louisiana church that was filled with families and small children got a shock as a teenager dressed all in black entered the building during a first communion mass armed with a rifle.

Luckily, the parishioners acted quickly and piled on top of the would-be shooter, stopping him in his tracks.

This is an excellent reminder that people have to be aware, be vigilant, and act quickly at the first signs of trouble.

RedState has more details:

Terrifying Moments: Teenager With Gun Stopped at First Communion Mass in Louisiana

The folks at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Abbeville, Louisiana, were having a First Communion mass for about 60 kids on Saturday. They likely thought that they were going to have a beautiful celebration together.

But unfortunately, they also had some scary moments that intruded on the solemnity of the day. As the priest Fr. Nicholas Duper was on the altar, at about 48 minutes in, you can see a man come up to the altar, bend over, and whisper in his ear. That is certainly not a usual occurrence during a Catholic mass. You can see the priest absorbing something, and then he suddenly asks the parishioners to sit and to pray, as he starts to say a “Hail Mary.”…

Of the 87 DEI posts, it’s a mix of employees and students with full-time or part-time positions working to advance DEI in some capacity, and most of those positions appear to be paid and full-time, the analysis found.

The roles include vice president for DEI and chief diversity officer, director of the Center for Culture, Equity and Empowerment, and director of faculty diversity, inclusion and well-being.

A court in Germany ruled on Monday, May 13th that the anti-globalist, anti-immigration party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) can be designated as a “suspected extremist organisation.” This means that the domestic intelligence agency, Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV), has the right to spy on the party, using such intelligence tools as phone tapping, intercepting emails, or recruiting informants from inside the party.

In its verdict, the court said “there is sufficient evidence that the AfD pursues goals that run against the human dignity of certain groups and against democracy.” The judges added: “There are grounds to suspect at least part of the party wants to accord second-rank status to German citizens with a migration background.” Interior Minister Nancy Faeser welcomed the ruling as showing that the “state has instruments that protect our democracy from threats from within.”

Pride merchandise on display at a Target store in Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn, New York, in May of 2023.

Duncan Osborne

One year after Target scrambled to remove Pride merchandise in response to threats from right wing groups and individuals, the retail giant is again restricting LGBTQ-themed products in stores this year.

Target will sell Pride merchandise in select stores based on product performance and feedback, according to a fact sheet posted on the Target website. Target will, however, still sell all of its Pride merchandise online.

“We’re offering a collection of products including adult apparel and home and food and beverage items, curated based on consumer feedback,” Target said in the fact sheet. “The collection will be available on Target.com and in select stores, based on historical sales performance.”
