On Thursday, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold (D-Colo.) revealed that her office had discovered over a dozen mail ballots that had been stolen and mailed in with fraudulent votes cast.

As Just The News reports, the state has been engaging in universal mail-in voting for years, sending ballots to every registered voter in the state; this practice was considered rare prior to the Chinese Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, after which it became more common in Democrat-controlled states.

Officials in Griswold’s office said that the fraudulent ballots were discovered through the signature verification process, where the signature of the voter on record does not match the signature on the ballot. At least three ballots were still counted even after being determined as fraudulent, meaning the three false votes cannot be changed.

Nevertheless, Griswold issued a statement falsely declaring that “Colorado’s elections are safe and secure.”

A deep-blue state’s early voting figures show a razor-thin gap between the two major parties, according to The Denver Post.

The Colorado Secretary of State’s official numbers have revealed that Democrats are ahead of Republicans by only 22,000 ballots with over 635,000 ballots already returned, a significant development in the all-mail-in voting state. The data, released Wednesday, marks the first update since ballots were sent out to all registered voters in mid-October, with options to return by mail or via drop boxes.

The largest segment of voters so far is independents, however, with nearly 250,000 ballots returned. In late September, the governor of the state of Oklahoma, Kevin Stitt, boasted that election officials had removed 453,000 people from the state’s voter rolls since 2021. In a state with only 2.3 million registered voters, it appears that roughly one in six registered voters had been purged.

While some of these people were dead or disfranchised owing to felony convictions, nearly 200,000 of them were removed for being “inactive voters”. This means they likely failed to respond to a postcard sent to their mailing address.

Voters can re-register if they were incorrectly removed, but this “voter list maintenance” process still creates a barrier to democratic participation.

Unsurprisingly, Oklahoma historically has one of the lowest voter turnout rates in the United States.

This bucks the national trend. Overall, across the United States, electoral turnout has increased in presidential and midterm elections since 2018. Americans feel, now more than ever, that elections have high stakes.

And some states have made it easier to vote. Minnesota, for example, allows voters to register online or at the polls on Election Day.

A new report claims that Governor Tim Walz (D-Minn.), the Democratic nominee for vice president, once allowed several officials with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) into his classroom in Nebraska while he was still a schoolteacher in the 1990s.

According to the Daily Caller, Walz greeted a delegation of three CCP officials, labeled as “educators,” in February of 1996 when they visited the Alliance High School’s social studies class. The purpose of their visit was to allegedly “study the education system” of the United States. But some of the officials were working at the time for a Chinese intelligence agency.

The delegation consisted of two CCP officials, Ye Guoqiang and Yi Hongtao, who at the time were members of Guangzhou Institute of Physical Education; they were accompanied by their interpreter, Ning Ziheng. While there was no proof that Ziheng was a CCP member, the other two delegation members had been involved with the CCP for decades prior to their visit.

Details of their visit were provided in large part by a newspaper article from 1996 in the Alliance Times-Herald detailing the delegation’s visit. The article even included a black-and-white photograph of Walz and the three Chinese officials in the classroom together.

A man has been arrested in connection with shootings at a Democratic party office in the Phoenix suburb of Tempe.

Police identified the man as 60-year-old Jeffrey Michael Kelly, who was arrested Tuesday and charged with 10 counts including committing a terrorist act, criminal damage and unlawful discharge, among others, according to Tempe police.

Additional pending counts against Kelly could also include ones related to an incident where he allegedly left bags of white powder on political signs in the area as well as hanging political signs lined with razor blades, according to court documents.

About a dozen personnel, some from the FBI, were seen at Kelly’s home on Wednesday morning taking inventory of guns found inside, according to reporting from the Arizona Republic, part of the USA TODAY Network.

…A prosecutor from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office said Kelly was “preparing to commit an act of mass casualty.” A court document, obtained by the Republic, said that Kelly’s actions showed a pattern of escalation of his suspected terrorist activity…

The latest shooting at the Democrats’ field office occurred early on Oct. 6. The other two shootings happened in September and within the span of a week − the first on Sept. 16 and the second on Sept. 23. All of the incidents occurred between midnight and 1 a.m. local time.

Kelly’s attorney argued that some of the allegations were inflammatory, saying that his client is a retired aerospace engineer with a top-secret level clearance and no prior criminal record. Regarding the guns, his attorney said Kelly was a sportsman.

“We will not tolerate attempts to intimidate anyone involved in the process. Those who engage in political violence or try to interfere with elections, or discourage people from participating in the political process, will face serious legal consequences. We will aggressively pursue prosecution to protect our democracy and our democratic process.”

The most populous county in Arizona confirmed this week that it will likely take at least 11 to 13 days to count all of the ballot cast in next month’s presidential election.

According to county election officials, heavy turnout during this cycle put additional stress on the system, resulting in the likelihood for longer-than-usual tabulation delays.

“We do expect that it will take between 10 and 13 days to complete tabulation of all of the ballots that come in, but we ask for the community’s patience,” Liewer said. “We want to make sure that this is a secure process, but we also want to make sure that it is an accurate process.”

The higher interest in the 2024 election and the fact that the ballot is two pages — an average of 79 contests per ballot — is exactly why officials are encouraging people to vote early, Maricopa County Supervisor Bill Gates said.

More than 2.1 million votes are expected this year and so far, 400,000 people have cast their ballots in Maricopa County.

“We are seeing a little bit of a lag of where we were in 2020 but the last few days we’ve actually seen an uptick in turnout,” Scott Jarrett, Maricopa County elections director, said. “So I am expecting that we will start approaching very close to those 2020 numbers.”
