FBI Shutters DEI Office: Here Are The Organizations Ending Diversity Programs (Full List) – MSN Source Link Excerpt:
Target became the latest company to nix diversity, equity and inclusion goals Friday, as a growing wave of companies pull back on their DEI commitments following President Donald Trump’s election, as Trump has already moved to eliminate federal DEI programs and slammed DEI at the World Economic Forum in Davos this week.
Timeline
Jan. 24 Target, which had already curbed its LGBTQ Pride merchandise line in response to conservative backlash, announced it would pull back on racial hiring targets, end its Racial Equity Action and Change program and cease participation in external diversity surveys, with chief community impact and equity officer Kiera Fernandez telling employees in a memo the decisions were made based on “many years of data” and an effort to stay “in step with the evolving external landscape.”
Here’s How DEI-Crazed Officials Made The LA Fire More Deadly– thefederalist.com Source Link Excerpt:
As relentless fires burn in Los Angeles, thousands of residents who fled their homes are just learning how poorly public officials prepared for such an event. Emergency response leaders following bad public policy have been too focused on sending firefighting equipment to Ukraine, keeping the homeless safe, protecting fish, and adopting green policies to focus on things like making sure there is enough water to feed fire hydrants and guaranteeing that the strongest, best-trained, most-skilled firefighters are leading operations.
Officials seem to believe that when fire forces you to flee your home, there is just one thing on your mind: the skin color and cultural experience of the firefighters who will bring you to safety. Will they be diverse enough to rescue you? Never mind if they are the best for the job, are they anything but straight white men?
That has been a major priority of the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), which, in 2022, launched its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Bureau (DEI), purportedly “focused on ensuring a safe, diverse and inclusive workplace for all.”
In January 2022, then-Mayor Eric Garcetti checked multiple DEI boxes by appointing Kristin Crowley as fire chief, the first female, LGBT chief in Los Angeles. That year, according to LAFD data, “of the more than 6,500 applicants to LAFD, 70% were people of color and nearly 8% … were female,” which was “double the … percentage of female firefighters within the Department” at the time.
The LAFD Girls Camp is one avenue for recruitment for female firefighters, hosting girls between 14 and 18 to explore career opportunities in the department.
This story is all too familiar:
Adam Carolla applied to be an LA firefighter, and was told he had to wait 7 years because he wasn’t black, hispanic, or female.
DEI programs to promote diversity actually breed hostility in schools, businesses: study– www.lifesitenews.com Source Link Excerpt:
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs are billed as making society more tolerant, compassionate, and harmonious but actually increase hostility in workplace and educational settings, according to a recent study.
The study, by Rutgers University’s Network Contagion Research Institute, focused on “diversity training interventions that emphasize awareness of and opposition to ‘systemic oppression,’” which has “seen widespread adoption across sectors like higher education and healthcare.” It was conducted by exposing 423 Rutgers students to influential DEI training materials authored by far-left activists like Ibram X. Kendi and Robin DiAngelo, then surveying their reactions.
“Across all groupings (race, religion, and caste-based), instead of reducing bias, they engendered a hostile attribution bias,” the researchers found, “amplifying perceptions of prejudicial hostility where none was present, and punitive responses to the imaginary prejudice.”
“This research raises critical questions about how many individuals, as a result of these programs, have experienced undue duress, social ostracization, or even termination of employment,” said the researchers, who called for further research into “the potential for a far broader scope of harm than previously considered.”
Taxpayers Paid $3 Billion for Radical DEI Kickbacks Under Biden › American Greatness– amgreatness.com Source Link Excerpt:
President Joe Biden gave more than $3 billion across 30 agencies to outside contractors to implement his diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) executive order in federal government agencies. These billions are on top of the already exorbitant cost of existing DEI funding for each department.
On Biden’s first day in office, January 20, 2021, he began implementing his DEI agenda, making it his top priority for America. DEI initiatives even took priority over the defense of the nation and the fentanyl crisis. Biden’s day-one executive order to advance “racial equity” through the federal government signaled to America and federal bureaucracies that his most urgent issue was cultural Marxism—not China, Iran, or the border crisis.
“Equity,” as opposed to “equality,” is a term closely aligned with communism used to force equal outcomes rather than equal opportunities. In June 2021, Biden doubled down and issued another executive order requiring the federal workforce to promote DEI in its departments. This maneuver set the stage for billions of wasted taxpayer dollars on cultural Marxist indoctrination that doubtless reshaped the work of federal employees in agencies such as the FBI, Health and Human Services, the Secret Service, and the Defense Department.
Idaho bans ‘DEI ideology’ in higher education, protects campus speech and debate– www.lifesitenews.com Source Link Excerpt:
The Idaho State Board of Education banned “DEI ideology” in all of the state’s higher education institutions, which going forward will be required to adhere to “political neutrality” instead of indoctrinating students.
The College Fix reported that the board approved three resolutions last month, each targeting a different facet of left-wing educational control. Taken together, they require colleges and universities to “establish and maintain equality of opportunity for all students regardless of personal identity characteristics”; prohibit any offices, policies, or initiatives “dedicated to DEI ideology”; protect staff and students alike from being required to recognize “preferred pronouns”; require “political neutrality” of schools; require curriculum information be made available to the public; and more.
In addition, students and staff will be given instruction on campus free speech that may not be obstructed, and campuses are barred from engaging in viewpoint discrimination against guest speakers.
At the same time, individuals are not only allowed but encouraged to take stands, as “institutions should promote a culture that encourages and celebrates forums in which faculty, students, staff, and community members may express conflicting, controversial, or unpopular viewpoints.”
Victor Davis Hanson Condemns California’s DEI Hiring In Fire Departments, ‘Not Muscularity, Not Experience,’ Just DEI– dailycaller.com Source Link Excerpt:
Victor Davis Hanson, Wednesday on Newsmax, slammed the implementation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) criteria in fire department hiring practices in California.
During an appearance on “Finnerty,” Hanson said these policies prioritize DEI above essential firefighting qualifications like experience and physical readiness. Hanson said that hiring workers based on DEI led to an ill-equipped workforce in the state.
“The DEI fire chief, 70% of her hires have been based on DEI. Not muscularity, not experience, not size, not competence. The primary criterion was DEI. And so the only… thing that is different about this is that this was not the inner city. This was, as Donald Trump mentioned, and I’ve taught at Pepperdine, I just got back from there. This is the most elite area of California,” Hanson told Rob Finnerty.
Hanson also said that there’s a broader failure in California’s management of natural resources and emergency preparedness.
Putting ‘woke’ law schools on trial– www.washingtonexaminer.com Source Link Excerpt:
Law schools are different from other academic institutions. They are the incubators of America’s future elite. When they go wrong, it profoundly affects the wider culture in a way that other institutions do not.
That’s the central point in Lawless: The Miseducation of America’s Elites, the compelling new book by Ilya Shapiro. Shapiro, a lawyer, a veteran of the libertarian Cato Institute, and a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, gained fame in 2022 when he was investigated for political incorrectness prior to starting a position as executive director of the Georgetown Law School Center for the Constitution.
Georgetown investigated Shapiro after he posted that Sri Srinivasan, the chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, would be President Joe Biden’s “best pick” for the Supreme Court. Shapiro added: “But alas [Srinivasan] doesn’t fit into [the] latest intersectionality hierarchy so we’ll get [a] lesser black woman.”
Shapiro’s “lesser black woman” phrasing caused a reaction and led Georgetown Law Dean William Treanor to denounce the post as “appalling” and “at odds with everything we stand for at Georgetown Law.” It completely upended Shapiro’s life.
Thirty-Five Discriminatory U Rhode Island Scholarships Under Investigation by DoEd After Equal Protection Project Complaint– legalinsurrection.com Source Link Excerpt:
The Equal Protection Project (EPP) (EqualProtect.org) of the Legal Insurrection Foundation has challenged numerous discriminatory programs done in the name of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In all we have filed over 50 complaints and legal actions since launch in February 2023, with approximately half the schools withdrawing or modifying the discriminatory programs after our filing. (See EPP November 2024 Impact Report.)
Indeed, URI appears to admit that there is a strong likelihood that several of its discriminatory scholarships are unlawful – because in its descriptions of such scholarships URI notes that “if such an award would not otherwise comply with applicable law, then the scholarship shall go to a student with demonstrated financial need and in good standing from a historically underrepresented population at the University.”18 This reflects both a consciousness of guilt on the part of URI and a callous disregard for federal anti-discrimination laws and URI’s constitutional obligations. This highlights the urgent need for OCR to conduct an investigation and put an end to this misconduct before the spring 2025 reapplication period begins.
DEI ties threaten contender for Trump’s FAA– www.washingtonexaminer.com Source Link Excerpt:
A businessman considered to be a contender to lead the Federal Aviation Administration under President-elect Donald Trump has expressed support for diversity, equity, and inclusion policies and Black Lives Matter, statements show.
Alex Wilcox, theFAA administrator contender, made the remarks as the CEO and co-founder of JSX, a public charter company that he co-founded after helping to launch JetBlue Airways in 1999. Wilcox, who sprinkled donations to Republicans this election cycle, posted images with Trump in November, alongside the caption “MAGA.”
But Wilcox’s past remarks in favor of DEI and Black Lives Matter could place a dent in his chances to be tapped to lead the FAA, an agency within the Transportation Department that oversees the safety and efficiency of civil aviation in the United States. Trump ran on eliminating “Marxist” DEI policies from the government. His allies, including the incoming Department of Government Efficiency leaders Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, are expected to take aim at DEI spending programs that Democrats championed under President Joe Biden.
Senate passes military spending bill, cutting child sex changes, DEI | The Post Millennial– thepostmillennial.com Source Link Excerpt:
Johnson told reporters about the efforts pushed to improve the military, “We improved housing for our military families and other benefits, and it’s also why we stopped funds from going to CRT in our military academies.”
The Senate passed a defense spending bill that also bans funding for child sex changes as well as goes after DEI in the military. The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) will cost $895 billion.
After passing in the House last week and getting passed through the Senate, the NDAA goes to President Joe Biden’s desk for a vote. Although it passed with bipartisan votes, many Democrats were in strong opposition to House Speaker Mike Johnson slipping in provisions to ban military healthcare funds going to sex changes for minors as well as cuts to DEI, the Daily Mail reported.
The package is the most expensive one yet, nearing $900 billion, and is around $10 billion more than the funding that went to the military last year. The military spending vote is usually pretty bipartisan, however, with Johnson’s add-ons, some Democrats were obstinately against the military spending. This comes as there has been heightened conflict around the world, both in the Russia-Ukraine war as well as the warring nations and factions in the Middle East.
The Network Contagion Research Institute released a report called “Instructing Animosity: How DEI Pedagogy Produces the Hostile Attribution Bias.” The study reveals that efforts by institutions to force their employees (directly or indirectly) to go through DEI training is creating more hatred, more division, than it alleges it will eliminate.
From the Report, “While not representative of all DEI pedagogy, ‘anti-racism’ and ‘anti-oppression’ pedagogy and intervention materials have seen widespread adoption across sectors like higher education and healthcare.”
This means the catastrophic effects of forcing an ideology of hate on people is about to hit most of our major institutions, including healthcare, a fact that has already caused this writer to reduce dependence on the current healthcare system as it exists today.
Diversity Training Linked to Increased Animosity Toward Others– www.dailysignal.com Source Link Excerpt:
Diversity, equity, and inclusion has made society meaner—mean enough to accept Hitlerian terms when describing out-groups and seeking to exact revenge on perceived oppressors.
This was all common sense to many of us years ago, but it’s nice that we now have a study that substantiates our perception.
The report, released Nov. 25 by the always-good Network Contagion Research Institute and titled “Instructing Animosity: How DEI Pedagogy Produces the Hostile Attribution Bias,” describes how groups that were exposed to writings by DEI retailers Ibram X. Kendi and Robin DiAngelo reacted compared to control groups that were instead given anodyne texts on technical material.
Every time, members of the groups under the spell of Kendi and DiAngelo or similar writers looked for discrimination under every bed, found offense in “microaggressions” that did not exist, and, more worryingly, sought to penalize those they wrongly identified as having committed these transgressions.
Lest we forget, this comes from an approach that promised “better discussions, decisions, and outcomes for everyone,” according to Google CEO Sundar Pichai. DEI is “the key to growth,” according to activist Jesse Jackson, and something that “creates safer and fairer workplaces,” according to Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif.
Former department official slams new DEI rule for federal education grants– www.thecollegefix.com Source Link Excerpt:
Biden-Harris administration ties funding to hiring based on ‘gender,’ ‘race,’ ‘color,’ ‘sexual orientation’
A Department of Education regulation change tying billions of dollars in grant funding to diversity, equity, and inclusion is drawing strong opposition from a former department official and leading Republican lawmaker.
Education Secretary Miguel Cardona recently included the DEI directive in a series of updates to the Education Department General Administrative Regulations, a collection of rules that the department uses for awarding federal grants. The changes went into effect Sept. 30.
Now, the department will tie funding decisions to the applicant’s dedication to hiring “personnel who are members of groups that have historically encountered barriers” due to their “gender; race; ethnicity; color; national origin; disability; age; language; migration; … sexual orientation” and other factors.
The department has an “interest in awarding grants to a diverse and inclusive group of applicants,” it stated in the regulation update.
