After Trump’s Election, NSF-Funded Censorship Tools Go Missing– thefederalist.com

The National Science Foundation (NSF) claims to be the place “where discoveries begin” — but it funded programs where free speech ends. When The Federalist asked if it still funds anti-“misinformation” tools, a representative simply pointed to its public grants database, which lists censorship projects funded during the Biden administration.
The public-interest law firm Alliance Defending Freedom sent NSF records requests in February to uncover any coordination between the federal agency and internet communications monopolies such as Google and Facebook.
NSF funds one-quarter of all federally funded academic fundamental research projects at U.S. higher education institutions, and funds technology development at approximately 400 “small businesses” each year. It has an annual budget of $8.5 billion. It also funds programs that exclude recipients based on race, according to an NSF factsheet.
The NSF’s “Convergence Accelerator,” which funds special research projects, launched a “cohort track” in 2021 for “Trust & Authenticity in Communication Systems.” Recipients developed software to control online speech labeled “misinformation” about politically sensitive topics including Covid-19 treatments and election integrity.

Even as President Trump’s approval on the economy slips, his support on immigration remains strong. Americans solidly approve of his mass deportations policy, knowing full well that millions of people were allowed to enter the country illegally under the Biden administration. Millions of convicted and accused criminals, as well as people with standing deportation orders, are among them. Quite frankly, these numbers are a good start, but they’re just a start, given what the new president’s team and inherited and the enormity of the resulting task at hand:
EXCLUSIVE: ICE arrested 113,000 migrants, deported over 100,000 since Trump’s return on Jan. 20, The Post has learned.https://t.co/xLloRknLsB

Deportations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement surged above 100,000 since President Trump returned to the White House in January — as he maintains his promise to boot illegal migrants, alleged gangbangers and suspected terrorists from the United States, The Post has learned. ICE officials have made 113,000 arrests and carried out “north of” 100,000 deportations since Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration, a Department of Homeland Security source told The Post Monday. “He’s doing what he was voted in to do. Point blank!” an ICE source said. It wasn’t immediately clear how many detainees are convicted criminals, the status of their cases and their national origins — though sources believe the majority are being removed to Mexico. ICE has since “maxed out” its detention space and is asking Congress to fund additional beds to support the Trump administration’s deportation campaign that yielded 32,000 arrests in its first 50 days.

The Atlantic Caught Pushing Another Anti-Trump Hoax Story – PJ Media– pjmedia.com

As Signalgate fades into obscurity, joining the long list of failed attempts to manufacture a Trump administration scandal, The Atlantic has a new problem. A new Trump hit piece it published this week has been exposed as a lie.
The mainstream media is scrambling to discredit Trump’s mass deportation policy, pushing the false narrative that, despite the administration’s focus on removing criminal illegal aliens first, innocent people are being swept up alongside illegal alien gang members and felons.
Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor of The Atlantic, has a track record of publishing bogus hit pieces on Trump. In 2020, he pushed a debunked claim that Trump called fallen soldiers “losers” and “suckers,” which even he later admitted might be false. In 2024, he spread another false story about Trump being upset over a soldier’s funeral bill — dismissed by other journalists but still published by The Atlantic. His history of dishonest reporting makes skepticism of his work not only justified but necessary.
On Monday, The Atlantic jumped on the innocents-swept-up angle, publishing a piece that claimed, “The Trump administration acknowledged in a court filing Monday that it had grabbed a Maryland father with protected legal status and mistakenly deported him to El Salvador.”
Here’s how The Atlantic described the man:
Court filings show Abrego Garcia came to the United States at age 16 in 2011 after fleeing gang threats in his native El Salvador. In 2019 he received a form of protected legal status known as “withholding of removal” from a U.S. immigration judge who found he would likely be targeted by gangs if deported back.
Abrego Garcia, who is married to a U.S. citizen and has a 5-year-old disabled child who is also a U.S. citizen, has no criminal record in the United States, according to his attorney. The Trump administration does not claim he has a criminal record, but called him a “danger to the community” and an active member of MS-13, the Salvadoran gang that Trump has declared a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr joked recently that “[m]ore Americans trust gas station sushi than the legacy national media.” That statement, sad but true (or perhaps not so sad), is indicative of the new Trump chair’s approach to his job: to call out the powerhouse institutions that have long gotten a free pass on their relentless bias, illegal DEI practices, and general disservice to the American people. The chairman has had enough, and the left is losing its collective mind as a result.
The current iteration of that fight is prompted by a complaint filed by my organization, the Center for American Rights, against CBS for its misleading editing of then-Vice President Kamala Harris’ interview with 60 Minutes. The chairman has taken those charges seriously (as he should) and held a public comment period that ended this week. Numerous everyday Americans spoke up, critical of CBS’s electioneering, while left-wing senators and media groups are outraged at the supposed assault on the First Amendment.
Typical is Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., who has opened an “Inquiry into FCC’s Political Targeting of Newsrooms” from his post as ranking member of the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. In his release announcing the probe, Blumenthal lambasts the FCC for its “unprecedented, intrusive investigations against media broadcasters under arbitrary and capricious pretenses.” The senator is concerned that these “vexatious investigation[s]” by the FCC “may be designed to intimidate newsrooms,” so he’s apparently decided to launch his own investigation to intimidate the chairman into dropping the commission’s investigations.
MSNBC, NBC Double Down on DEI and Quotas as Trump Administration Pledges To Stamp Out ‘Discriminatory’ Behavior in the Media Business– freebeacon.com

When FCC chairman Brendan Carr announced last week that the Trump administration will block the business deals of media conglomerates that engage in discriminatory DEI practices, some employees at the liberal network MSNBC took notice.
“MSNBC could be in the administration’s crosshairs as well. The network is in the process of being spun off from its parent company,” MSNBC columnist Ja’Han Jones wrote after Carr’s statement that he would block media mergers and acquisitions involving firms that promote what he calls “discriminatory” DEI practices.
Jones was referring to SpinCo, the temporary name that Comcast has given the holding company for its planned spinoff of MSNBC, CNBC, and all but one of its other cable channels, which it’s jettisoning due to the terminally ill—yet still enormously profitable—cable TV business dragging down its share price.
The concern at Comcast and its subsidiary NBCUniversal is perhaps due to the media giant’s unusually aggressive promotion in recent years of DEI and social justice initiatives, as well as racial and gender quotas, which executives have said they hope will “change the face” of the media industry and induce “demographic change,” specifically at NBCUniversal.
