02a U.S. Politics – Right

REUTERS—The FBI said on Monday that an attack on the largest Jewish temple in Michigan earlier this month was an “act of terrorism” inspired by Hezbollah.

Ayman Ghazali, a 41-year-old man who was born in Lebanon and became a U.S. citizen in 2016, killed himself during the March 12 attack, when he crashed his truck into the Temple of Israel synagogue before opening fire on security guards and causing an explosion using fireworks, said Jennifer Runyan, the special agent in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Detroit field office.

Simply put, some things should transcend politics. But in a country where Democrats have a seriously bad case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, mountains must be made out of molehills, right is wrong and wrong is right, and victims of violent crimes can only be honored if their crime fits leftist narratives.

That’s where we are with Rhode Island, which has been a hotbed of anti-Trump activity since he took office for his second term, especially on the issue of illegal immigration, which has seen some woke state lawmakers openly threaten immigration enforcement officers.

ICE’s presence in cities like Providence and the removal flights that have taken off from Portsmouth have led to outrage among Democrat officials and far-left woketivists, the latter of whom have staged street protests, set up tip lines, and stakeouts where they try to locate ICE vehicles and allegedly give them no choice but to leave.

American universities move operations online

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened to bomb U.S. and Israeli universities in the Middle East, calling them “legitimate targets” on Sunday.

The threat followed reported U.S.-led attacks on two Iranian universities, according to Inside Higher Ed

“The reckless rulers of the White House should know that from now on, all universities of the occupying regime and American universities in the West Asia region are legitimate targets for us until two universities are struck in retaliation for the Iranian universities that have been destroyed,” the IRGC stated.

“All staff, professors, and students of American universities in the region, as well as residents in their surroundings, are advised to stay at least one kilometer away from these universities to ensure their safety,” it stated.

New York University, Northwestern, and Georgetown operate branch campuses in Qatar or the United Arab Emirates, while American University maintains campuses in Lebanon, Iraq, and Egypt, Washington Examiner reported.

The United Kingdom will not come to the aid of its allies the United States and Israel in Iran, no matter what pressure there is to join and no matter who asks, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has said.

The British Armed Forces will act to defend itself and British citizens in the Middle East but will never be “dragged in” to the war against Iran, Sir Keir Starmer said.

The remarks came in Starmer’s speech launching his Labour party’s local elections campaign for the forthcoming May 7th votes. While geopolitics and foreign war discourse may not seem like traditional fodder for local government elections, which in Britain tend to be fought on neighbourhood issues like refuse collection and road repairs, UK politics has taken on distinctly ethno-religious qualities that have led to claims it is developing a new sectarian politics.

For many voters in the United Kingdom, that the government doesn’t bomb Muslim countries is a primary concern at the ballot box, and several Labour Party MPs are privately concerned they stand to lose their seats to single-issue sectarian parties.

Promising his government wouldn’t engage in the joint American-Israeli attempt to reduce Iran’s capacity to hold the global economy to ransom, Sir Keir said in Wolverhampton on Monday that he wouldn’t change his mind “whatever the pressure and whoever it’s coming from”. He said:

We’re facing on a war on two fronts: the Ukraine war, now four-and-a-bit years in, and let’s salute the bravery of Ukrainians over so many years both on the frontline and the civilians as they fight for the values that matter to us.

And the other war … the Iran war, which I know is causing huge concern. People look at their screens and they’re worried when they see explosions, infrastructure blown up, the rhetoric that goes with it, worried about whether this is going to escalate even further.

And therefore it’s really important that I reiterate where I stand and where this government stands, because this is not our war and we are not going to be dragged into it.

The American political left as a cultural formation, and the Democratic Party as an institution, have sunk into a style of oppositionalism that contains no opposition. They speak in a vernacular of protest because they speak in a vernacular of protest, out of habit and as a cultural identity, but they have no idea what they’re protesting. They’re very angry about the, you know, stuff. Something something Trump something something.

At three o’clock, the nurse brings pudding. Comfortable and wealthy people, many decades into their experience of affluence and safety, are putting their bodies on the line to oppose fascism for a couple hours before the driver takes them back to their mansions.

Professors were among the throngs on Saturday taking part in the No Kings demonstrations held across the nation to protest the Trump administration.

It is estimated that millions of people took part in the rallies that peppered the country, with some likening the movement to the conservative Tea Party protests in 2009.

Various reports estimated 3,000 different protests took place in larger cities and smaller communities, drawing people from all walks of life, including scholars.

“Our courageous men and women face death threats, just like this, every day. Individuals making the threats will be held accountable.”

A left-wing agitator vandalized a federal building in Los Angeles on Saturday, spray-painting the words “kill your local ICE agent” during the “No Kings” protest.

Thousands of individuals marched throughout downtown Los Angeles in opposition to the Trump administration, with many specifically protesting immigration enforcement policies. Video shared by Fox News showed a masked individual using red spray paint to write the message on the wall, along with two bullseye symbols.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement shared the video on X, writing in response, “If you threaten ICE, or their families, you WILL face the full force of federal law.”

“Our courageous men and women face death threats, just like this, every day. Individuals making the threats will be held accountable,” the agency added.

Just when you think the Senate GOP couldn’t get any more useless than it already is, its members find a way to prove you wrong.

While the SAVE America Act continues to languish, the Department of Homeland Security (including ICE and Border Patrol) remains unfunded, and dozens of Trump nominees await confirmation, Senate Majority Leader John Thune did what any typical Republican would do. He sent the upper chamber home on a two-week vacation.

An estimated eight million people reportedly turned out on Saturday for “No Kings” protests. Many of the more than 3,300 protests looked the same: crowds largely made up of elderly white leftists holding signs accusing President Donald Trump of being a “dictator” or “tyrant” or, as might be guessed, a “king.”

On social media there’s no shortage of Republicans mocking the protests — and with good reason. But however stupid the message of the “No Kings” protests, the left nonetheless managed to mobilize millions of people, including current and future voters.

House Republicans on Friday blasted the Senate’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding deal with Democrats and signaled they will refuse to bring it to the floor, deepening a standoff that is already disrupting airports and federal operations.

The rejection sets up a continued impasse as Washington heads into a two-week recess with no clear resolution in sight.

RedState’s Nick Arama has been reporting Saturday on the bizarrely named “No Kings” protests occurring in cities across the United States. Not surprisingly, things got violent in downtown LA, because they seem to have a way of doing that in the far-left city, and meanwhile, ageing celebrities showed up in Minnesota to rage about almost anything they could think of.

No Kings Day has come around once again, and it is just as cringe as last year. Of course, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone younger than the age of 60 wasting their time away at these things, and they really haven’t done much updating to their schticks as we’re still looking at the Handmaid’s Tale garbage in 2026. Anyway, here is some of the best (or worst) of what we have seen from No Kings 2026.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio told G7 foreign ministers that the US anticipates the conflict to continue for another two to four weeks.

Members of the US Armed Forces in Saudi Arabia were injured on Friday during a missile attack on Prince Sultan airbase. US officials confirmed to CBS News that about a dozen service members were injured.

The attack, reported Jennifer Jacobs, “consisted of Iranian missiles and drones.” Two Americans, she confirmed, were seriously injured while eight others suffered injuries. The total of US service members who have been killed during the conflict in Iran prior to this attack was 13.

The leftists who now control Virginia’s government desperately want you to believe that ripping up a bipartisan congressional map mid-decade for naked political advantage is fair. They insist as much in the language of the absurd referendum question before the commonwealth’s voters next month.

“Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?” the ballot asks.

“There will be no post-presidential peace for Donald Trump,” boomed The New Republic last week.

In a lengthy piece on why the president should not expect to enjoy a restful retirement, Matt Ford laid out Donald Trump’s high crimes and misdemeanors—mostly high crimes—and accused him of having “excited domestic insurrections against us,” in the grave words of the Founding Fathers.

The shuttering of the Kennedy Center may be the least of Trump’s second-term sins. In the first year since returning to power, Trump and his subordinates have pushed the country toward fascism and oligarchy. He has turned Washington into an orgy of corruption and self-dealing beyond even the most cynical observer’s imagination. He has transformed Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol into a lawless paramilitary force that has besieged American cities and killed at least five U.S. citizens and 22 foreign nationals. He has abused Americans and their immigrant neighbors alike simply because he can.

One of the most preposterous claims from liberals is that somehow, conservatives uniquely try to win elections by using “fear,” “hate,” and “division,” especially on race and religion. Democrats never use any divisive, negative tactics when trying to motivate voters. It’s like they’ve never heard Chuck Schumer saying a Republican voter-ID bill is “Jim Crow 2.0.”

On March 24, PBS stations debuted a long negative campaign commercial disguised as a documentary titled White With Fear, on how “America’s conservative political machine uses racial fault lines to gain power.” The 85-minute film starts with Nixon’s campaigns, then goes on a tear against Fox News, Islamophobia after 9/11, birtherism against Obama, the Tea Party, and then into the Trump era.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth called out former president Barack Obama Thursday, accusing him of helping to finance Iran’s military with “pallets of American cash.”

“Many of the Iranian military factories and bases that we’re systematically destroying were paid for by the pallets of American cash that Barack Obama flew into Tehran under the Iran deal,” Hegseth said.

Critics have long condemned Obama for empowering the state sponsor of terrorism in 2016 with a $1.7 billion cash payout.

Officials said the first $100 notes featuring Trump’s signature alongside Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will begin printing in June.

The US Treasury Department said Thursday that new paper currency will carry President Donald Trump’s signature as part of the country’s 250th anniversary, marking a first for a sitting president.

At the same time, the long-standing signature of the Treasurer of the United States will be removed from bills.

Forty-seven Democrats voted against a photo ID amendment on Thursday despite Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer previously claiming that he was supportive of photo ID.

Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) introduced an amendment to the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act that would simply require photo ID to vote. Acceptable forms of ID include an unexpired driver’s license with a photo, a valid passport, a military ID, an unexpired state-ID card, among others.

The measure needed 60 votes to pass but only received 53 “AYE’s.”

What happens with a secure border?

A new report from the U.S. Census Bureau describes a remarkable set of changes happening in the United States. Population growth is slowing or reversing toward decline in many metropolitan areas, and population losses are accelerating in some counties that were already shrinking.

Several things are happening behind those changes, but here’s what the Census Bureau identifies as the biggest cause:

“These shifts were largely due to lower levels of net international migration (NIM), which declined nationwide. Nine out of 10 U.S. counties experienced lower NIM levels between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025, compared to the year prior. The one in 10 counties that did not see a drop in international migration did not see an increase either.”

At least 70 people are dead after Haitian gangs allegedly attacked an agricultural district of the Caribbean nation as international forces prepare to respond.

Gang members marched into the regions of Jean-Denis and Pont-Sondé, located on the west of the country, before shooting civilians and burning residences from Sunday to Monday, CNN reported, citing rights groups. The attacks have left at least 70 people killed and more than 50 homes burned down, and have displaced nearly 6,000 people, according to the rights organization Defenseurs Plus.

In a move that is sure to be immediately challenged in a progressive court, President Trump has announced a plan to end the DHS pay freeze without using congress. He declared, “They are refusing to fund Immigration Enforcement unless the Republicans agree to their Open Border Policies, which will never, ever happen again….

Because the Democrats have recklessly created a true National Crisis, I am using my authorities under the Law to protect our Great Country, as I always will do! Therefore, I am going to sign an Order instructing the Secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin, to immediately pay our TSA Agents in order to address this Emergency Situation, and to quickly stop the Democrat Chaos at the Airports.”

Trump Ends DHS Payment Freeze Without Congress, Issues Immediate Orders to New DHS Sec. Markwayne Mullin – westernjournal.com

In an announcement on Truth Social Thursday evening, President Donald Trump announced that he would be ordering new Department of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin to pay Transportation Security Agency officials who have been working without salary during the DHS shutdown.

It was unclear from the statement how he planned to find the funds, but said the move would be through executive order.

The Associated Press noted that the administration had considered using the declaration of a national emergency to move funding through, although the wire service noted it “would be politically fraught and almost certain to face legal challenges.”

U.S. District Judge Rita Lin has issued a ruling that prevents President Trump from ordering the Pentagon to sever ties with the AI company, Anthropic. The Trump administration has determined Anthropic’s governance standards are not aligned with America’s standards.

The Federal judge has essentially ruled she knows better than Trump if Anthropic is aligned or not aligned with American standards. She said in her ruling, “Defendants’ designation of Anthropic as a ‘supply chain risk’ is likely both contrary to law and arbitrary and capricious.”

Judge Lin Blocks Pentagon AI Decision and Extends Lawfare Pattern – PJ Media

U.S. District Judge Rita Lin has stepped in again, blocking President Donald Trump from forcing the Pentagon and federal agencies to cut ties with Anthropic.

The ruling halts a supply chain designation tied to national security concerns over AI in military use. The designation also said mean things about Anthropic, hurting Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s feelings, so he took the Trump administration to court.

Federal agencies must now continue working with a company the executive branch flagged as a potential risk.

A federal judge in California has blocked the Trump administration from designating Anthropic a supply chain risk to national security and cutting off all work with the AI company.

Anthropic sued the Defense Department and other federal agencies this month after the Pentagon labeled it a “supply-chain risk to national security.” President Donald Trump said he would also ban the use of Anthropic’s products across other federal agencies.

“Defendants’ designation of Anthropic as a ‘supply chain risk’ is likely both contrary to law and arbitrary and capricious,” Judge Rita Lin, a U.S. district judge in California, wrote in her order Thursday night. “The Department of War provides no legitimate basis to infer from Anthropic’s forthright insistence on usage restrictions that it might become a saboteur.”

Lin paused her own order for a week to allow the administration time to appeal.

The lower court order barred the use of chemical or projectile munitions, such as tear gas, pepper balls, flash-bang grenades, rubber bullets, pepper or oleoresin capsicum spray, and other less-lethal weapons.

The US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has temporarily blocked an order prohibiting federal agents from using crowd control munitions on protesters at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Portland, Oregon.

The 2-1 panel decision, issued on Wednesday, intervenes in two separate federal cases, with two Trump-appointed judges, Kenneth Lee and Eric Tung, granting the Trump administration administrative stays. Judge Ana De Alba dissented.

An administrative stay is intended to “minimize harm while an appellate court deliberates” and lasts “no longer than necessary to make an intelligent decision on the motion for stay pending appeal,” as stated in the order.

The decision comes just days before the nationwide “No Kings” protests, a coordinated left-wing event that led to the siege of the ICE facility twice last year: in June and again in October. Riots were declared at both of those events.

White House Warns: Trump Will ‘Unleash Hell’ if Iran ‘Fails to Understand That They Have Been Defeated’ – gellerreport.com

President Donald Trump is “prepared to unleash hell” if Iran refuses to “come to a deal,” the White House warned Wednesday, cautioning that the regime “should not miscalculate again” after suffering devastating battlefield losses, as U.S. forces — including Marines and elements of the 82nd Airborne Division — deploy to the Middle East to support combat operations against Iran.

Speaking at a White House briefing, press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the president remains willing to listen as talks with Tehran continue, but stressed the regime is now being given a final opportunity to accept the reality of its battlefield defeat and come to terms.

“Iran should not miscalculate again,” Leavitt warned, arguing that the regime’s last miscalculation has already cost it “their senior leadership, their navy, their air force, and their air defense system.”

She said the message from the president is clear: If Tehran refuses to accept that reality, the consequences will intensify.

“If they fail to understand that they have been defeated militarily and will continue to be, President Trump will ensure they are hit harder than they have ever been hit before,” Leavitt said, adding that “President Trump does not bluff and he is prepared to unleash hell.”

Former National Security Advisor Michael Flyn won a $1.2 million settlement from the Department of Justice because of the DOJ’s unconstitutional prosecution of him. Flyn was the initial tip of the spear of the Russian collusion hoax.

Under extreme DOJ pressure, including against Flyn’s family members, he pleaded guilty to charges he was in the process of seeking to throw out before President Trump pardoned him in November 2020. This came after the DOJ itself reversed course on the Flyn case, admitting it had no proper basis to interview Flyn in the first places, nor were his statements material to a valid investigation, let alone charges.

DOJ Agrees to $1.2M Flynn Settlement After Russia Probe Case Unravels – RedState

The Justice Department has agreed to pay former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn about $1.2 million to settle his lawsuit over the Russia-gate prosecution that followed him out of office, closing out a case that went from guilty plea to dismissal, pardon, and now a federal payout.

The settlement resolves a lawsuit Flynn filed in 2023 seeking at least $50 million in damages. The agreement closes that case without a trial, years after the criminal charges against him were dropped and later pardoned.

The underlying case dates back to early 2017, when Flynn was interviewed by the FBI about his contacts with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition. Prosecutors later charged him with making false statements during that interview, and Flynn pleaded guilty in federal court as part of the Russia investigation.

In 2020, the Justice Department reversed course and moved to dismiss the case.

“The department said the FBI had no proper basis to interview Flynn and that his statements were not material to a valid investigation, undercutting the charge it had previously brought.”

An attempt by the city of Louisville, KY to force Christians to bake gay wedding cakes has cost the city $800K. Christian Photographer Wins $800K From Louisville After Fighting Same-Sex Wedding Mandate – legalinsurrection.com

Louisville taxpayers will fork over $800,000 to end a long-running federal lawsuit between a Christian photographer and the city.

Chelsey Nelson has been battling the city since 2019 over an ordinance that would require her to take photos and write about same-sex weddings, despite her Christian beliefs. She also could not explain her religious beliefs and objections to same-sex unions on her website.

The law in question “threaten[ed] Nelson with unspecified damages, compliance reports, and court orders” if she did not praise LGBT “wedding ceremonies” in the same way she does heterosexual weddings, according to Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF).

The Christian legal group announced on Tuesday that Nelson has won attorney fees in addition to the nominal damages a court had already awarded her. Federal courts have barred city officials from enforcing the law since 2020.
