Both GOP and Democratic student leaders tell The College Fix young people across the spectrum concerned about making a living in today’s economy

Students and young voters across party lines agree that economic concerns take priority over social issues, according to a new Young America’s Foundation poll.

Nearly half of the 1,600 young people surveyed — 48 percent of high school students and 44 percent of college students — named the economy as a top concern.

Angst over the economy outpaced the results for any other topic, such as health care, school safety, the environment and race relations among those surveyed, one in three of whom identified themselves as moderate. The rest ran the gamut, from conservative to liberal.

Among college students polled, only 14 percent named race relations among their top three concerns, and only 15 percent listed LGBTQ-rights as a priority.

Back in 2020, Joe Biden made it a point to pick a black woman to be his running mate. In 2024, now that Vice President Kamala Harris is running for president in her own right, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell declared it “clearly racist” on Tuesday for Republicans to point this out.

Addressing former RNC chairman Michael Steele, Mitchell whined, “It took only a day for the Republicans to attack Vice President Harris in clearly racist terms. Republican Congressman Tim Burchett of Tennessee says the vice president is a diversity hire. I mean, here’s a former senator, attorney general of California, our largest state. Take a listen.”

Vice President Kamala Harris was rated as the second most liberal senator in the 116th Congress, behind only Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, according to GovTrack.

The analysis aims to rank how partisan different senators are based on “whether they sponsor and cosponsor overlapping sets of bills and resolutions with other Members of Congress,” said GovTrack — a non-partisan organization that tracks lawmakers and their voting records. Based on this method, Harris was ranked the second most liberal member of the 116th Congress, which ran from January 3, 2019 to January 3, 2021.

One metric, which compared how many bipartisan bills each senator co-sponsored relative to how many bills they co-sponsored overall, found just 14.4% of the bills she co-sponsored were bipartisan, putting her at 97th out of all 100 senators. Moreover, during the 116th Congress, Harris had just one legislative bill she proposed be enacted into law, making her tied for 87th in that category.

Harris’ GovTrack rating runs counter to reporting that characterizes her as a middle of the road politician, with The New York Times once describing her as a “pragmatic moderate” in August 2020.

Democrat mega-donor Alex Soros was quick to throw his weight behind Vice President Kamala Harris after Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race.

Soros, who took the helm of the Open Society Foundations (OSF) last year from his father, 93-year-old Hungarian billionaire activist George Soros, immediately signalled on Sunday that his family’s vast fortune will be firmly behind Kamala Harris as the potential Democrat nominee against former President Donald Trump in November.

Taking to X, Soros wrote: “It’s time for us all to unite around Kamala Harris and beat Donald Trump. She is the best and most qualified candidate we have. Long live the American Dream! #Harris2024”

The endorsement from the mega-donor came in the wake of President Joe Biden announcing his withdrawal from the 2024 race after facing pressure from within the Democrat Party, the grass roots, and the donor class to step aside as his support continued to slide after a disastrous debate with President Trump last month.

Vice President Kamala Harris has been coasting toward the Democrat Party nomination in the wake of President Joe Biden dropping from the race, earning enough delegates to shore up support.

Biden exited the race on Sunday and immediately endorsed Harris, which prompted waves of support and endorsements from top Democrat officials and fundraisers. According to an Associated Press (AP) survey, several delegations met late on Monday to “confirm their support for Harris, including Texas and her home state of California.”

“By Monday night, Harris had the support of at least 2,471 delegates, according to the AP tally of delegates, more than the 1,976 delegates she’ll need to win on a first ballot. No other candidate was named by a delegate contacted by the AP,” noted the outlet.

Harris told campaign staff in Delaware on Monday that she has confidence her new team will perform well, adding that it is her “intention to go out and earn this nomination and to win,” promising to “unite our Democratic Party, to unite our nation, and to win this election.”

A new poll from the Associated Press shows that a staggering majority of Democratic voters want Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 election in favor of a younger, more mentally competent candidate.

As reported by Axios, the AP-NORC poll, released on Wednesday, saw 65% of Democratic respondents support the notion that Biden should withdraw ahead of the November election. Among overall respondents, 70% supported a Biden withdrawal, while just 57% believe President Donald Trump should withdraw.

But along party lines, President Trump has much stronger and more unified support among his base, with 73% of Republicans supporting his candidacy while a mere 26% want him to drop out. By contrast, only 35% of Democrats want Biden to stay in.

A similar poll from ABC News saw 67% of voters in favor of Biden dropping out, due in large part to most voters no longer viewing Biden as a “mentally sharp” candidate.

Six Democratic advisors and operatives who work with major donors told Politico that the money is beginning to dry up as the trickle of donors calling for Biden to step aside has become a wave.

“This is a massive, massive problem,” one of the operatives who work with major donors said. “Right now, we should be scaling up, doubling, and tripling our goals as we head into the fall. But we’re cratering.”

Some fundraisers have been canceled. Some donors have “threatened to withhold donations until the president drops out,” according to Politico’s sources, who were granted anonymity to discuss the issue.

A deep red state governor is backtracking on his pledge to support former President Donald Trump’s reelection bid, a shocking change of mind after announcing his support during the Republican primary season.
