Abortion Watch

Forgive them, for they know not what they do.

This admonition came to my mind this week as I was reminded of the devastation caused by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s decision to pull the plug on a decades-old program funding pregnancy care centers in the Keystone State.

Shapiro canceled the contract of Real Alternatives, an award-winning organization which admirably served pregnant women and their children throughout the Commonwealth.

For one pregnancy center that I am aware of, that meant a loss of $100,000.

Can you imagine how many women can be served with that amount of money? It is a significant loss, not only of treasure, but of service to the community.

President Donald Trump’s administration has chosen to defend former President Joe Biden’s policies that allow over-the-counter access to the unborn-child-killer pill, mifepristone. The administration is claiming the suing states have no standing to sue. It should be noted Trump ran on the promise he wouldn’t cut off access to the abortion pill.

The Trump administration is defending federal regulations allowing abortion pills to be available online and by mail, the Justice Department revealed on Monday.

But rather than defending the Food and Drug Administration’s rules for the pills on the merits, the DOJ argued in a filing with a Texas federal court that the three GOP-controlled states suing the agency lack standing and the case should be thrown out.

An activist group out of Missouri is using the state’s recently passed unlimited abortion constitutional amendment to go after the last remaining safeguards for women, girls, and babies on the books, including a law mandating parental notification and consent for a minor seeking an abortion.

Right By You, an organization that prides itself on instructing underage girls in Missouri on how to get birth control and abortions, filed a lawsuit on April 30 alleging that laws requiring a minor to secure a parent’s permission, or endure a “potentially traumatic judicial bypass process,” to end a pregnancy “flagrantly violate” the new amendment to the state constitution.

“The laws bully pregnant young people without parental support into giving birth and threaten legal action against and undermine the core activities of Good Samaritans who seek to help young people effectuate their own decisions about their pregnancies with dignity,” the lawsuit claims.

On Good Friday Operation Rescue received some good news: In response to the complaint we filed earlier this month, the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) has opened an investigation into the death of Lexi Arguello.

Lexi Arguello was 18-years-old and reportedly 22 weeks pregnant when she experienced severe complications during a second trimester abortion committed at Planned Parenthood Fort Collins in Colorado. Reportedly, Lexi developed an amniotic fluid embolism – a life-threatening complication that can occur in second or third trimester abortions as well as during delivery.

Student’s victory leads to policy shift at South Carolina university

Winthrop University student Riley Dill successfully challenged the school administration and Council of Student Leaders for violating her free speech rights after they denied her application to start a Students for Life club.

Dill reached out to Students for Life of America for help, and the national pro-life group issued a demand letter to allow the student to start her club.

Within one week of receiving the letter, the public South Carolina university rescinded the decision and confirmed recognition of Winthrop Students for Life as a new student organization.

Reached for comment, the Council of Student Leaders directed The Fix to Winthrop President Edward Serna’s official statement on the case.

A recent memorial resolution introduced in the Texas House has sparked controversy for honoring Cecile Richards, the former president of Planned Parenthood who died in January. Richards passed away at the age of 67, following a battle with aggressive brain cancer.

The resolution says absolutely nothing about the fact that she oversaw the killing of millions of babies.

Texas House Resolution 236, introduced by Democratic Rep. Ramon Romero and co-sponsored by Rep. Ann Johnson, both of Houston, praises Richards as a Texas native whose “exceptional contributions” left an “unmistakable mark on the world.” The resolution omits any mention of abortion, despite Richards’ leadership of Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business, from 2006 to 2018.

A federal judge has canceled a Joe Biden-era rule that required businesses to promote abortion.

The rule, perpetrated by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under Biden, demanded that employers provide abortion-related leave and other practices that violated the beliefs of a multitude of business operators and owners.

A report in the Washington Stand explained the impact of the ruling from Daniel Traynor, a Trump appointee to the District Court of North Dakota, is that 9,000 Catholic businesses now do not have to grant abortion leave and other practices contrary to their beliefs.

“Thank you detectives at the 28th precinct NYC!,” Antao, a journalist with Live Action, wrote on Instagram.

As previously reported by LifeSiteNews:

“You don’t understand the magnitude of having a child,” the abortion supporter told Craven Antao in video footage published by Live Action.

“I’m not the one who admitted they would be okay with killing babies in foster care and killing children that had been abused,” Craven Antao responded.

“That’s not my point,” the women replied before lunging at Craven Antao and punching her repeatedly in the face, knocking her to the ground.

The Senate confirmed Harmeet Dhillon, a prominent pro-life attorney, as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice on Thursday

The vote marks a significant shift in the agency’s approach to civil rights enforcement under the Trump administration. The vote, which followed party lines with Republicans approving and Democrats voting no, ended with a 52-45 tally, with three senators absent.

Dhillon, nominated by President Donald Trump in December 2024, pledged during her Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing in February to end what she described as the targeting of pro-life Christians by the DOJ. Her appointment replaces Kristen Clarke, a pro-abortion Biden-era official criticized by conservative groups for aggressively prosecuting pro-life activists under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act.

“We have no right to kill another person just because they upset us, are unpleasant to us, or could seriously harm our lives. We do not kill innocent people – I believe this is very important,” he said.

The Colorado state legislature is currently considering legislation that would require the state Medicaid program to cover elective abortions. This would make Colorado the 20th state whose Medicaid program covers elective abortion.

In other states, supporters of publicly funded abortions typically argue that it is a necessary step to ensure that low-income women have access to abortion. However, Colorado Democrats have trotted out a new, more perverse argument. They claim that publicly funded abortions would save state taxpayers money.

Indeed, last week Colorado’s Legislative Council Staff released a fiscal note analyzing SB 25-183, the bill requiring that Colorado’s Medicaid program and Child Health Plan Plus program to cover elective abortions. The analysis found that this would increase the number of taxpayer-funded abortions.

However, since the state Medicaid program would be paying for fewer births, there would be an overall cost savings. Democratic state legislators have eagerly cited this analysis.

Nearly two dozen states sue Trump administration over decision to rescind billions in health funding

A group of Democratic-led states have sued the Trump administration over its decision to cut $11bn in federal funds that they were allocated during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the lawsuit, attorneys general and governors from 23 states and the District of Columbia argue that Department of Health and Human Services lacks the authority to unilaterally claw back funding the states had already built health programs around.

The “sudden and reckless cuts violate federal law, jeopardize public health, and will have devastating consequences for communities nationwide,” the lawsuit writes.

Susan Crawford beats Brad Schimel: Why Wisconsin Supreme Court loss was personal for Elon Musk | World News– timesofindia.indiatimes.com

In a closely watched and historically expensive election, liberal Judge Susan Crawford defeated conservative Brad Schimel to secure a 10-year term on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, preserving the court’s narrow liberal majority. This outcome not only represents a significant victory for Democrats but also a deeply personal and strategic defeat for billionaire Elon Musk, who invested millions into the race in an attempt to sway its outcome.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court race shattered records as the most expensive judicial election in US history, with Musk pouring over $21 million into Schimel’s campaign. Much of this funding came through Musk’s America PAC, a political action committee he established to support former President Donald Trump. Musk’s contributions included direct financial backing for Schimel and controversial cash incentives for voters—offering $100 for signing petitions and $1 million checks to select individuals. Despite these efforts, Crawford emerged victorious, securing the liberal majority on the court with national implications for issues such as abortion rights, labour laws, and electoral redistricting.

What would have normally been a sleepy nonpartisan judicial race turned into an expensive battle between Crawford, a Dane County judge, and Waukesha County Judge Brad Schimel, who was endorsed by the Republican Party. The campaigns and their supporters have spent more than $81 million, attracting endorsements and campaign appearances from Elon Musk, Vermont Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders and other national political figures.

With 91% of the vote in, Crawford led Schimel by 54% to 45%, a margin of about 184,000 votes.

An attorney for the state argued that Congress “did not use clear rights-creating language in any qualified provider provision” in the Medicaid Act’s any-qualified-provider provision.

The Supreme Court heard arguments on Wednesday in a case out of South Carolina stemming from an executive order signed by Governor Henry McMaster directing the state’s Department of Health and Human Services to remove abortion clinics like Planned Parenthood from the state’s Medicaid provider list.

While federal law prohibits Medicaid funding from going toward paying for abortions, many Medicaid patients in the state seek out the clinic for care such as cancer screenings, pregnancy testing, and contraceptives, per the Associated Press. In South Carolina, there are just two Planned Parenthood clinics.

An attorney for the state argued that Congress “did not use clear rights-creating language in any qualified provider provision” in the Medicaid Act’s any-qualified-provider provision and that it did not use the word “right or its functional equivalent, nor does it use words with a deeply rooted rights-creating pedigree.”

Priscilla Dray, a 35-year-old mother of three, walked into the Pellegrin University Hospital in Bordeaux, France on July 22, 2011, to procure an abortion. Within the week, she developed a serious infection; within a month, she developed necrosis. Before the year was out, both of Dray’s legs, her left hand, and her right forearm were amputated.

This abortion nightmare is at the center of a case that unfolded in France last month, as the two doctors responsible for the abortion and her subsequent maiming faced charges of having caused Dray involuntary injuries “through clumsiness, imprudence, inattention, negligence, or failure, (which) voluntarily or involuntarily caused incapacity for more than three months.”

Dray alleges that she begged one doctor for antibiotics and that she was refused on July 23, the day after her baby was aborted. Another doctor allegedly delayed medical examinations despite what is described as “worrying blood tests.” Dray went to the emergency room but was sent home. By July 24, Dray says her legs felt like “pieces of wood,” and returned to the emergency room. She was given antibiotics after a five-hour wait.

“They didn’t believe me, I had to beg,” Dray told the judges at the Bordeaux Criminal Court. “They took me for a bourgeois who was putting on a show.” That night, Dray ended up in the resuscitation room, and days later intensive care; the infection progressed so swiftly that her limbs became gangrenous and were amputated on August 25, scarcely a month after the abortion. As Dray stated on the M6 programme Zone Interdite: “I trusted (them) and this is the state they put me in. I should have died.”

Roske allegedly threatened to kill Kavanaugh because he was upset that the justice may overturn Roe and allow states to protect unborn babies from abortion

The arrest came shortly after the leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion indicating the court would overturn Roe v. Wade, which allowed abortions up to birth across America.

(LifeSiteNews) — The city of Seattle officially believes that there should be no limits on the prescription of transgender drugs and surgeries to minors, according to recent legislation.

The state of Washington already allows for abortion through all nine months of pregnancy and opposes any limits on transgender drugs and surgeries for minors. The state allows abortion until “viability” but then leaves open the vague “life” or “health” exception as a reason to have an abortion at any time. The state also will take away kids from parents if they are not supportive of them getting permanently damaging drugs and surgeries to look like the opposite sex.

However, this is not enough for the Seattle mayor and city council.

A new resolution, signed Monday on the so-called “Transgender Day of Visibility,” reaffirms the city’s “sanctuary status” for those who identify as “2SLGBTQIA+.” The acronym stands for “Two-Spirit” – a made-up sexual orientation which proponents claim has roots in Native American history – as well as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning (or queer), intersex, asexual, and anything else.

According to the resolution, Seattle “unequivocally supports the rights of individuals to engage in free speech or expression supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ rights, embrace and express their own authentic gender and sexuality, and define their own gender and sex with or without regard to biological sex at birth.”

Very few medical advancements have done more to change hearts and minds on abortion than ultrasound technology. In fact, research has shown that some women are less likely to have an abortion if they see an ultrasound image of their unborn child.

S.B. 450 is a good bill, and it now goes to the entire Arkansas Senate for consideration.
