Interim U.S. Senator Darline Graham and U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman have advanced to a runoff in South Carolina’s special Republican primary for the U.S. Senate seat previously held by the late Senator Lindsey Graham.

Ahead of Tuesday’s primary, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster appointed Darline Graham, Lindsey Graham’s sister, to serve the remainder of the term, which ends in January 2027. Under state law, a special primary was required to select the Republican nominee for the full six-year term beginning in 2027.

Ten candidates appeared on the Republican primary ballot. Unofficial results with nearly all votes counted showed Darline Graham receiving 109,582 votes, or 32.7 percent, while Norman secured second place with 24.6 percent of the vote.

Significant vote shares also went to additional candidates, as U.S. Rep. Russell Fry finished third with roughly 19.6 percent of the vote. Former Governor Mark Sanford trailed close behind with 14.9 percent, while businessman Mark Lynch, who previously mounted a primary challenge against the late Senator Graham, received a little under six percent. A handful of additional candidates received smaller shares of the vote.

Wisconsin’s Dem establishment is scrambling to stop a democratic socialist Tuesday www.politico.com

EXCERPT:

KENOSHA, Wisconsin — The progressive movement’s midterms march has arrived in Wisconsin, where a democratic socialist is forcing establishment Democrats to mount an all-out, last-ditch effort to stop her.

State Rep. Francesca Hong is the front-runner to become the Democratic gubernatorial nominee, fueled by a populist campaign tapping into voters’ cost of living concerns. David Crowley, the Milwaukee County Executive backed by outgoing Gov. Tony Evers, has emerged as the top candidate trying to cut off Hong’s bid.

Ahead of Tuesday’s primary, electability was top of mind for voters and both candidates as they raced to prove they could build the widest, strongest coalition against presumptive Republican nominee Tom Tiffany.

Crowley and Evers have been barnstorming the swing state over the past week, warning a vote for Hong risks losing the governor’s mansion in November to Tiffany, a hard-right member of the House Freedom Caucus backed by President Donald Trump.

The Supreme Court granted Donald Trump criminal immunity for official acts as president, but that immunity does not extend to everyone involved in potentially corrupt acts with Trump.

Democrats have been laying the groundwork for months for these investigations by looking into companies that are getting government contracts and those who engage in business deals with the president.

Rep. Jamie Raskin, the Ranking Member on the House Judiciary Committee, said on MS NOW’s The Weekend:

So we’re going to continue to assert the rule of law at every turn with our allies in. We’ve been trying to gather as much information as possible about all of the scams, all of the corrupt rip-offs.

We’ll be able to pursue those investigations with the power of the subpoena.

Raskin said that House Democrats are not afraid to impeach Trump again, but will only be done if it helps them make progress for the country:

Abdul El-Sayed Lists Anti-Trump Investigations As Top Priority If Dems Take Senate trendingpoliticsnews.com

EXCERPT:

Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan, appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday and outlined plans contingent on Democrats securing a Senate majority after the November elections. In the interview with Jake Tapper, El-Sayed stated that reigniting partisan investigations into the Trump Administration would be a priority if he wins his race and Democrats take control of the chamber.

“We ran this campaign to do three things: get money out of politics, put money in your pocket, past Medicare for all. When I’m elected to the U.S. Senate, the first thing we need to do is start holding the Trump administration accountable,” the DSA-backed nominee told Tapper.

He continued by specifying the mechanism for such actions. “You know, when we win, God willing, I will take my seat as a member of a Senate majority. That gives us subpoena power to be able to investigate all of the ways that this administration has used their power for their gain and enrichment and against ours,” he said.

Fishback claims DOJ is investigating Donalds for sex trafficking www.washingtonexaminer.com

EXCERPT:

James Fishback, a Republican candidate for Florida governor, claimed the Department of Justice is investigating his primary opponent, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), for alleged sex trafficking claims.

During a press conference in Tallahassee on Thursday, Fishback based his allegations on information provided by a whistleblower seemingly familiar with the federal investigation. He did not take any questions from reporters after the press conference.

Fishback alleged Donalds and embattled Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) “solicited, procured, and paid women for sexual acts” on two separate occasions in 2024 at MGM National Harbor near Washington, D.C. Both Florida Republicans were sitting congressmen at the time. Fishback said he was “reluctant” to share the news publicly, noting he contacted Donalds before delivering the announcement.

“I specifically gave Congressman Donalds the opportunity to come before the public to share what he knew and to disclose the details of this investigation, and he chose not to,” Fishback said.

The Washington Examiner contacted Donalds and Mills for comment on the allegations.

The DOJ allegedly expanded its investigation of Mills to include Donalds, according to Fishback and the anonymous whistleblower.

Elon Musk issued a stark warning to radical left-wing activists after a report exposed violent rhetoric from a former volunteer videographer for Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s campaign.

“If they come after me, I will come after them and finish the job,” Musk wrote on X.

The warning came after investor Joe Lonsdale shared an investigation by The Free Press into Eric Hovagim, a 28-year-old leftist content creator who previously helped film and edit campaign material for Mamdani during his mayoral run.

Hovagim reportedly described Musk as a “valid military target” after footage appeared to show a downed American drone equipped with Starlink satellite technology.

NYT: Moderate Dems Gear Up for ‘War’ with Democratic Socialists www.breitbart.com

The leader of a moderate Democrat group said members are gearing up for a battle with democratic socialists who may try to capture the presidential nomination in 2028, the New York Times (NYT) reported Thursday.

Some Democrats, including Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), have been warning against the rising influence of socialists and communists in the Democrat Party, Breitbart News reported Wednesday.

Indeed, Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed beat establishment Democrat Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) in Tuesday’s primary in Michigan, where “the radical transformation of the Democratic Party is center stage,” Breitbart News said Wednesday:

El-Sayed, a public health official and former failed candidate for governor in 2018, delivered the most high-profile win to date for the movement increasingly calling the shots in Democrat politics. While he is not a formal member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the ascendant power center of left-wing American politics, elected officials identifying as democratic socialists, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), campaigned hard for him over several months leading up to the August primary.

Democrat Senator John Fetterman appeared on the Sean Hannity show on Wednesday night and was asked why so many Democrats are silent in the face of the radical DSA types taking over their party.

According to Fetterman, it’s because they are afraid to speak out. This tracks.

This is why when people like Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries and other top Democrats are asked about what is happening to their party, they dodge and deflect.

Transcript via Overton News:

Senator John Fetterman says the reason he’s the ONLY Democrat willing to speak out against the socialist takeover of his party because the rest are cowards:

“They’re afraid of them.”

HANNITY: “Why is the silence so deafening among your other Democrats?”

FETTERMAN: “Well, I mean, they’re afraid of them, honestly.”

“I mean, they can say that in politics, you can define what you’re afraid of is if you’re unwilling to criticize them.”

“I think it’s entirely appropriate. I think it’s a responsibility as a Democrat to call this out.”

Too Bonkers for Bernie: Even Sanders Won’t Touch This Socialist Train Wreck – RedState redstate.com

As the midterm primary season keeps rolling along, it’s becoming more and more obvious that socialist candidates are having an electoral moment. Riding high on endorsements from the king of the socialists himself, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), avowed socialists like Donavan McKinney in Michigan’s 13th congressional district and Abdul El-Sayed in the Michigan Senate race have emerged victorious from their primaries.

Getting the Bernie Sanders seal of approval can make or break a budding Marxist politician – and he’s usually more than happy to endorse them all.

All except one.

It turns out that there’s a socialist candidate whose bonkers behavior is too much for even Bernie Sanders.

Before the big revelation, keep in mind that Sanders has previously endorsed Democrats like Jamaal Bowman, the infamous Capitol fire alarm puller who has dabbled in 9/11 conspiracy theories, and Cori Bush, the former Squad member who thought she could heal the sick.

The socialist candidate who has fallen short of Bernie’s approval is none other than Francesa Hong. Sanders revealed on the far-left Pod Save America show – hosted by two former Barack Obama staffers who apparently are the pinnacle of Democrat bro-dom – that he’s just not that into Hong.

Under the guise of focusing on House and Senate races, Sanders told the podcasters he’s staying out of Hong’s race to become Wisconsin governor.

Sanders noted he met Hong “a couple of years ago” and called her “very, very nice.” But the Vermont progressive added he is “not that familiar” with the race to succeed term-limited Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D).

“We have not gotten involved in many governors races. … My major concern right now is seeing that we have a Senate and a House that is going to stand up to [President] Trump,” the senator said.

If you want to understand just how racist Republican voters are, look no further than Tuesday night’s result in Michigan’s 8th Congressional District primary.

Both President Donald Trump and the National Republican Congressional Committee had endorsed veteran Amir Hassan to face off against Democratic Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet in this seat that Trump carried by 2 points in 2024.

“Amir Hassan is a Flint native, Navy veteran, and former federal law enforcement officer who fought for nation and will fight for Michigan in Congress. Hassan is set to secure victory in November and deliver real representation for hardworking Michiganders,” NRCC spokesman Zach Bannon wrote in a July 15 post that added Hassan to the committee’s “MAGA Majority” program for candidates national Republicans deem as top-tier recruits.

And Trump posted a lengthy endorsement of Hassan on July 28, writing in a Truth Social post: “From bravely fighting for our incredible U.S. Navy, to protecting his Community as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer, Amir has served our Nation with distinction, and will bring that same Fighting Spirit to the U.S. Congress.”

Ohio Senator Jon Husted Calls On Max Miller To Resign From Congress dailycaller.com

Republican Ohio Sen. Jon Husted called on Republican Ohio Rep. Max Miller to resign from Congress in a Thursday statement.

Miller has been embroiled in controversy since his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, accused him of physically abusing herself and their two-year-old daughter. Husted said Miller dropping out and resigning would be “in the best interest of his daughter.”

“Anyone who commits domestic violence is not fit to serve in Congress. The House Ethics Committee should thoroughly investigate any credible allegations, and any member found to have committed domestic violence should resign from Congress immediately,” Husted said. “I know both Max Miller and Emily Moreno, as well as their families. I am deeply saddened that their personal lives have become such a public matter, especially as it relates to their daughter, Ruthie.”

“One thing they both seem to agree on is that Ruthie’s best interests should come first,” Husted continued. “Those interests will not be served by litigating these matters in public, but by addressing them privately. Given everything they are facing, I do not see how a campaign for Congress benefits any of them. I believe Max would be making the right decision to step aside as a candidate and resign from Congress to focus on what is in the best interest of his daughter.”

Axelrod says Francesca Hong loss benefits ‘serious’ Abdul el Sayed www.washingtonexaminer.com
News Source
EXCERPT:

Former Obama adviser David Axelrod believes Wisconsin Democratic gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong losing her primary would be good for Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul el Sayed, denying Republicans an opportunity to tie the two progressive candidates together.

“It would be good for @AbdulElSayed if Francesca Hong loses her bid to become the Democratic nominee in Wisconsin next week,” Axelrod wrote in a post on X. “He is a serious person. She is a font of zany liberal, faculty lounge exotica.”

Axelrod argued that if Hong captures the Democratic nomination, Republicans would attempt to paint el Sayed and the Wisconsin Democrat as ideological allies while seeking to shift attention away from President Donald Trump.

“But the Rs, hoping to deflect attention from an unpopular @POTUS who hangs from them like an anchor, would surely try and link Abdul and Hong as philosophical kin,” he added.
