President Donald Trump has moved to cut U.S. fentanyl-related tariffs on Chinese goods in half, following last month’s in-person meeting with China’s leader Xi Jinping in South Korea.

Under a new executive order issued on Tuesday, the tariff will drop from 20 percent to 10 percent beginning November 10.

In the order, Trump stated:

“The PRC [People’s Republic of China] has committed to take significant measures to end the flow of fentanyl to the United States, including stopping the shipment of certain designated chemicals to North America and strictly controlling exports of certain other chemicals to all destinations in the world.”

Trump and Xi met on October 30 on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Busan, South Korea.

After the meeting, Trump said he believed Beijing would take “strong action” to stem the supply of precursor chemicals used to manufacture fentanyl.

President Donald Trump’s administration has revoked around 80,000 non-immigrant visas since its inauguration on January 20 for offenses ranging from driving under the influence to assault and theft, a senior State Department official said on Wednesday.

The extent of the revocations, first reported by Washington Examiner, reflects a broad immigration crackdown initiated when Trump came into office, deporting an unprecedented number of migrants including some who held valid visas.

The administration has also adopted a stricter policy on granting visas, with tightened social media vetting and expanded screening.

Around 16,000 of the visa revocations were tied to cases of driving under the influence, while about 12,000 were for assault and another 8,000 for theft.

PUTIN ORDERS ‘POSSIBLE FIRST STEPS’ FOR NUKE TESTS: At a meeting of his security council at the Kremlin on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin quizzed his ministers about what to make of President Donald Trump’s recent pronouncement that the U.S. would resume testing of nuclear weapons after a three-decade moratorium.

“I would like to note that Russia has always strictly adhered to its obligations under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, and we do not plan to abandon these obligations,” Putin said, according to the official Kremlin transcript of the meeting. “At the same time, indeed, in my 2023 Address to the Federal Assembly, I said that if the United States or any other state party to the Treaty was to conduct such tests, Russia would be under obligation to take reciprocal measures.”

Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said Russian analysts have scrutinized the public statements of Trump, Vice President JD Vance, War Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Energy Secretary Chris Wright, and they still can’t figure out what the U.S. actually plans to do. “We analyzed these statements, but we are not entirely clear about the United States’ future plans and steps regarding nuclear weapons testing.”

Concerns are brewing among Trumpworld insiders about an escalating feud between two of the president’s top law enforcement officers.

Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel have found themselves the focus of increased scrutiny in recent months, from both the media and President Donald Trump’s base, on a host of issues ranging from the Jeffrey Epstein files to law enforcement’s handling of the Charlie Kirk assassination.

And following Patel’s latest string of negative headlines, which involved taking an FBI jet to Pennsylvania to watch his girlfriend sing at a wrestling match and jumping the gun on announcing FBI actions to foil an alleged terrorism plot on Halloween, two other senior Trump administration officials told the Washington Examiner that they have heard “rumors” that Bondi is exploring ways to replace Patel atop FBI.

The U.S. Supreme Court appeared fairly skeptical of President Trump’s implementation of numerous “emergency” tariffs in a pair of key cases before the bench on Wednesday.

The nation’s highest court held oral arguments in Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump and Trump v. V.O.S. Selections, Inc. The cases center around the legality of Trump’s implementation of tariffs using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), which grants presidents the power to “deal with any unusual and extraordinary threat, which has its source in whole or substantial part outside the United States, to the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States, if the President declares a national emergency with respect to such threat.”

As The Federalist previously described, the president “did so in response to existing ‘unfair trade practices’ that lead to trade deficits, as well as to punish countries like China for failing to ‘blunt the sustained influx of synthetic opioids, including fentanyl, flowing from the [People’s Republic of China] to the United States.’” Invoking language contained in IEEPA, Trump reasoned that these problems represent an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to the country.

On Tuesday, in several elections where they were already expected to win, the Democrats bragged that they beat the GOP on “affordability.”

Of the Democrats who will be charged with making America more affordable, now: a socialist mayor-elect in New York City who doesn’t seem to have the slightest idea of how New York City or economics works; a governor-elect in Virginia who doesn’t have the gumption to stand up against a kiddie-assassination fantasist, much less more palatable but still unconscionably free-spending members her own party; and a governor in New Jersey who will likely continue to pursue the same policies that have given the state the eighth-highest cost of living in the nation.

All of these people said they were running against President Donald Trump, who’s been in office for less than a year now.

China will begin easing an export ban on automotive computer chips vital to production of cars across the world as part of a trade deal struck between the US and China, the White House has said.

The White House confirmed details of the deal in a new fact sheet after Xi Jinping and Donald Trump met in South Korea this week.

The nations also reached agreements on US soybean exports, the supply of rare earth minerals, and the materials used in production of the drug fentanyl.

The deal de-escalates a trade war between the world’s two largest economies after Trump hit China with tariffs after he entered office this year, leading to rounds of retaliatory tariffs and global business uncertainty.

The FCC is considering abolishing what has been called the third rail in broadcasting politics, the national ownership cap. This cap is set at 39%, which means station owners cannot own more than 39% of the affiliates of a national broadcaster’s network.

The move is being considered to allow, theoretically, conservative affiliate owners a chance to push back against anti-American broadcasting, with the Jimmy Kimmel kerfuffle being the foil for the theoretical action.

Blurb:

President Donald J. Trump continues to shake Washington to its core, highlighting and reforming issues that have been on the back burner for decades. Trump’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) — led by Brendan Carr, Anna Gomez, and Olivia Trusty — is no exception, publicly raising the specter of abolishing the FCC’s national ownership cap.

For the media establishment, this is like touching the third rail. For generations, from Dan Rather to Jimmy Kimmel, Americans have been force-fed a steady diet of liberalism from the big three television channels.

Ending the ownership cap would allow conservative local broadcasters to compete with the likes of networks ABC and force broadcasts to actually reflect the country’s values.

Conservative commentator and Dilbert cartoon creator Scott Adams made an urgent plea to President Trump to possibly save his life. Adams is fighting Stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. He is hoping to get access to an experimental drug that could potentially save his life. From Kennedy Jr., to Donald Trump, Adams has received responses and assurances the approval process will be expedited in light of his critical health condition.

Several Trump administration officials dedicated part of their weekend to help Scott Adams, creator of the “Dilbert” comic strip, get the medical treatment he needs to fight his stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer.

Early Sunday morning, Adams had made a public appeal to President Trump on X, “to help save my life.”

He explained that he needed expedited access to a new FDA-approved cancer treatment called Pluvicto, claiming his healthcare provider, Kaiser Permanente of Northern California, had delayed scheduling the infusion even as his health was quickly deteriorating.

Adams, a vocal supporter of the president, provided an update on his case during his Rumble livestream, “Real Coffee With Scott Adams,” Monday morning.

President Trump on Tuesday called California’s Proposition 50 a “giant scam” and revealed that the Golden State’s mail-in ballots are under “serious legal and criminal review.”

Governor Gavin Newsom and the Democrat-controlled state Legislature placed the Prop 50 constitutional amendment on California’s 2025 special election ballot in August.

It authorizes a temporary override of California’s independent redistricting process for congressional districts, allowing the Democrat-controlled Legislature to gerrymander new maps starting with the 2026 midterm elections.

“The Unconstitutional Redistricting Vote in California is a GIANT SCAM in that the entire process, in particular the Voting itself, is RIGGED,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “All ‘Mail-In’ Ballots, where the Republicans in that State are ‘Shut Out,’ is under very serious legal and criminal review,” he added. “STAY TUNED.”

This comes as the city of Portland and the state of Oregon recommit to their status as sanctuaries for illegal immigrants in the face of the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal migration.

Several illegal aliens involved with the Tren de Aragua terror group were apprehended in Portland, Oregon, during a high-risk operation involving the illicit sales of drugs, firearms, and ammunition. The suspects, who were originally residing in Chicago, are believed to have moved to Portland just over a month ago in response to immigration enforcement operations increasing in the Windy City, federal investigators say.

US Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) breached a Portland apartment unit the group was suspected of using as a “stash house” on October 24, taking the ringleader into custody, along with seven other accomplices, all of whom are illegally present in the United States and have suspected ties to Tren de Aragua, according to authorities.

Five states and Washington, D.C., funneled more than $1.35 billion in federal taxpayer Medicaid funding to illegals, according to a preliminary audit of the program completed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

CMS Administrator Dr. Mehemet Oz posted the results of the preliminary audit on social media showing California, D.C., Illinois, Washington, Colorado, and Oregon spent millions each on illegals, with California spending the bulk, topping over $1.3 billion alone.

That money, according to Oz, was spent “just in the last few months.”

Tonight was essentially a blue bloodbath, with Democrats sweeping multiple state elections.

Here’s a quick rundown of the results so far:

Democrats score several election victories tonight, including:

• Zohran Mamdani (Mayor of New York City)
• Aftab Pureval (Mayor of Cincinnati)
• Abigail Spanberger (Governor of Virginia)
• Mikie Sherrill (Governor of New Jersey)
• Ghazala Hashmi (Lieutenant Governor of Virginia)
• Jay Jones (Attorney General of Virginia)
• Alicia Johnson (Public Service Commissioner of Georgia)
• Peter Hubbard (Public Service Commissioner of Georgia)
• Pennsylvania Supreme Court

Many of these victories seemed more than a little fishy.

But, cheating or not, Democrats took it all.

And now, President Trump has issued a response to tonight’s shameful election results.

He posted on Truth Social:

“TRUMP WASN’T ON THE BALLOT, AND SHUTDOWN, WERE THE TWO REASONS THAT REPUBLICANS LOST ELECTIONS TONIGHT,” according to Pollsters.

U.S. Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino faced a court order by U.S. District Judge Sara L. Ellis that would require him to report to her daily. The ruling was quickly struck down by the 7th district appeals court, diverting a potential flashpoint between the Progmerican DNC judiciary and the American Trump Administration.

The ruling by the Progmerican Judge is seen by intelligence experts as being an intentional effort to sabotage the central management bandwidth of Border Patrol’s leader rather than any judgment that fits within the parameters of her constitutional powers, either in the ruling in principle or in the decision to assume jurisdiction she flat-out doesn’t have.

Every day a new “opportunity” arises for the Trump administration to have to decide between submitting to an openly unconstitutional, seditious ruling or taking an action that perhaps half the “country” (Progmerica) would find treasonous as well. Fortunately, the Appeals Court saved us again, for now, but when will the DOJ prosecute these clearly rogue, Progmerican judges?

Blurb:

A federal appeals court quickly overturned a controversial lower court ruling that would have required U.S. Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino, who is leading the Trump Administration’s immigration enforcement operation in Chicago, to report back to the court on a daily basis.

Bovino has been leading Operation Midway Blitz, the Trump Administration’s expanded immigration enforcement operations in the Chicago area that has resulted in nearly 3,000 apprehensions of illegal aliens. The operation has mostly targeted gang members and illegal aliens with serious criminal histories.

Federal agents have come under constant assault from far-left extremists in the area, particularly outside an ICE detention facility in the community of Broadview. Bovino personally helped to organize a defense of the facility after weeks of consistent rioting and violent assaults on agents, which has been met with a surge in federal resources and the deployment of less-than-lethal crowd control measures such as tear gas, rubber bullets and mass arrests of rioters.

Five GOP Senators have helped pass a resolution by the Senate that would end Trump’s power to declare tariffs against Brazil. The House will need to affirm the resolution, which it cannot do until January. The resolution is expected to ultimately lead to blocking Trump from using tariffs completely.

The five votes came from Susan Collins of Main, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, and finally Mitch McConnell. The most disconcerting vote is Rand Paul, who, like Thomas Massie, has failed to realize we are in the middle of a civil war. Paul chose economic autistic “principles” lead him to empower a party hellbent on destroying the republic. Tariffs are NOT being used for economic reasons, they are being used geopolitically.

Blurb:

Few things from President Donald Trump’s second term have been as polarizing as his use of tariffs in trade negotiations.

And despite the best efforts of Vice President J.D. Vance to keep that tariff train rolling, just five Republican defections in the Senate appear to have been enough to derail at least one major tariff target.

According to Fox News, those five lawmakers have thrown a wrench into the president’s trade strategy by joining Senate Democrats.

Democrats were looking to end Trump’s use of emergency powers to implement 50 percent tariffs on Brazil…

Xi had been escalating the trade war with the U.S. by attempting to use its rare earth monopoly to separate market allies from the U.S. Trump’s response of a 100% rise in tariffs raised the cost of China’s potential response significantly. After the fourth plenum, Xi is now ready to formalize a ceasefire with Trump at the APEC Summit. The seeming pullback from the brink is seen by some experts as a sign that Xi’s bellicose policy towards the U.S. has been checked by a weakness from within after the fourth plenum. It would seem the Generals may have been replaced BECAUSE of their loyalty to Xi, not their failure to protect him.

Blurb:

The Trump-Xi trade truce on rare earth stability represents a pivotal moment in rare earth diplomacy, but understanding its true significance requires examining China’s entrenched position across critical minerals supply chains. Beyond the headlines of temporary détente lies a complex web of processing dominance that extends far deeper than raw material extraction.

China’s market control spans multiple critical stages of rare earth production. The nation processes approximately 92% of global rare earth elements, while maintaining 87% of permanent magnet manufacturing capacity. This processing monopoly creates bottlenecks that no diplomatic agreement can immediately resolve, as Western manufacturers have discovered during recent supply chain disruptions.

The lithium sector reveals similar patterns of concentration. Chinese companies control 65% of global lithium processing capacity, with facilities in Chile, Australia, and domestic operations handling the majority of battery-grade lithium carbonate production. Furthermore, this innovative lithium extraction processing dominance means that even lithium extracted in Western nations often requires Chinese refining before reaching battery manufacturers.

Industry Reality: Processing infrastructure represents the true chokepoint in critical minerals supply chains, not raw material access.

Cobalt refining demonstrates another dimension of Chinese market control. The nation handles 72% of cobalt refining operations, processing material primarily sourced from Democratic Republic of Congo mines. Consequently, this global cobalt mining vertical integration strategy allows Chinese companies to control pricing and allocation across multiple battery metals simultaneously.

Market Dynamics Beyond Raw Materials

The rare earth sector’s complexity extends beyond simple mining statistics. China’s strategic advantage lies in its integrated supply chains that span from ore processing to finished magnet production. Neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) permanent magnets, essential for electric vehicles and wind turbines, require specialised metallurgical expertise that takes decades to develop.

Chinese processing facilities benefit from economies of scale that Western competitors struggle to match. The Baotou region alone processes over 100,000 tonnes of rare earth concentrates annually, more than the combined capacity of all non-Chinese facilities worldwide. This scale advantage translates into cost efficiencies of 30-40% compared to alternative suppliers.

Separation technology represents another critical barrier to market diversification. The chemical processes required to separate individual rare earth elements from mixed concentrates involve proprietary technologies developed over decades. China’s solvent extraction capabilities can achieve purities exceeding 99.99%, while many Western facilities struggle to reach 99.5% purity levels consistently.

The Trump administration is managing a growing friction between Border Patrol and ICE over illegal alien deportation targeting, which it has settled by making it clear which side it’s own. ICE was pushing to continue to focus on deporting the worst offenders while Border Control has been pushing to expand the targeting to almost everyone. Apparently, Border Patrol has won.

They signaled their siding with Border Patrol with a wholesale overhaul of ICE in multiple offices nationwide. Many of these ICE officials might be replaced with Border Patrol officials. According to Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin reported “up to 12 ICE field office chiefs being removed… a handful of the ICE Chiefs will likely be replaced by Border Patrol & CBP officials, some of whom will be hand-picked by aggressive & controversial Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino.”

Blurb:

There was a massive overhaul across numerous offices at Immigration and Customs Enforcement. It was explained in a lengthy Twitter post by Fox News’ Bill Melugin. The Trump administration is no longer tolerating what some within the president’s inner orbit would consider lethargic progress toward mass deporting the hordes of criminal illegal aliens we have living among us. Sorry, if you’ve crossed into this country illegally and are caught, you’re going back. Period.

That’s the mindset, and the Trump team is looking for ICE officials who can accomplish that goal. And yes, reportedly, some people at the Department of Homeland Security are not pleased with this move. Scores of ICE officials were removed from their posts, with their replacements likely coming from the Border Patrol:

Lobbying in Washington is booming to record-high levels, and companies are rushing to hire Trump-allied firms in their efforts to influence the policy pronouncements spilling out of the White House. Overall, federal lobbying spending is up by 21% compared with last year, according to the Washington Post’s tally of expenditures through the third quarter of 2025. In the surge, the firm of Trump campaign fundraiser Brian Ballard has become the highest-paid lobbying shop, and other Trump-aligned firms are seeing an influx of clients as trade and tariff policies churn.

The pharmaceutical industry has juiced its lobbying spending: heavyweight PhRMA is certain to blow past its record high in lobbying spending set last year. The nearly $29.7 million the drugmakers’ group has spent through Q3 approaches the amount that it spent in all of 2024. Health industry lobbyists are weighing in on moves by the Trump administration and the GOP-led Congress to cut Medicaid funding and fire staffers in the overhaul of the Robert F. Kennedy Jr.-led Department of Health and Human Services.

In a stunning act of political miscalculation, Canada aired a deceptive tariff ad featuring President Reagan to taunt Donald Trump — prompting Trump to retaliate by raising tariffs on Canadian goods. To call it “stupid” is far too generous; it was a reckless act of self-sabotage.

The person responsible for this misleading ad is Doug Ford; the premier of the province of Ontario. Ford thought that this attack ad would scare President Trump into retreating from his tariff policy. Ford was dead wrong. In response to this attack ad, President Trump has suspended trade negotiations with Canada, and has also increased tariff’s on Canada by an additional 10 percent. Doug Ford is a clown.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has adopted new rules to ban illegal alien students from receiving in-state tuition rates.

The move was taken to comply with a court ruling compelling the board to do so.

The Trump administration sued Texas to get the change, saying that parts of its education law conflicted with federal law pertaining to illegal immigrants.

“In direct and express conflict with federal law, Texas education law specifically allows an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States to qualify for in-state tuition based on residence within the state, while explicitly denying resident-based tuition rates to U.S. citizens that do not qualify as Texas residents,” the administration argued.

Recently, in an unprecedented move, Ontario’s provincial government intruded in American politics by trying to divide the Republican Party regarding tariff policy.  They did this knowing that there are two strands of GOP thought on tariffs: a pro-free trade belief, and a pro-tariff belief, which the Canadians hope to exploit in their ongoing trade battles with the U.S.

Which brings me neatly back to the issue of higher tariffs.  Once again, I am analyzing this as a political issue, and not as an economic one.

The historical GOP was a big fan of tariffs.  Abraham Lincoln brought them over from the “American System” of the Whig party, of which he was a prominent proponent.  In 1896, the GOP doubled down on them under William McKinley, whom President Trump has praised.
